Chapter 11: The Black Lion

Your POV:

"So what exactly are we waiting for?" I asked Allura. The paladins had brought their lions down to where Allura had said the Black Lion was. Shiro was down and among them.

"We're waiting for the Black Lion to respond to the other lions and for it to respond to Shiro and bond with him," Coran explained to me.

"Yes. I hope it will work after ten-thousand years of solitude," Allura said, folding her hands together and moving them in front of her. It looked as if she was praying. Maybe she was. I hoped that this would work, for the sake of the universe.

I had to admit, I did want to pilot one of the lions. Even the thought of flying through space and having a mystical bond with a robot sent excitement through my veins. I had stayed quiet when everyone was getting chosen for their lions. Of course, I was extremely proud of them for getting to help the Universe. But I couldn't deny the feeling of ostracism and jealousy. But of course, I was being me, and I bottled up all of my feelings.

I've dealt with those feelings my whole life. I felt it when dad left me. I felt it when my mom left me for her boyfriend. I felt it when I woke up to an empty house with only a note on the fridge saying that my mother had left with her boyfriend because he told her to. I felt it when my first every adoptive family was abusive. I even felt it when Keith said those things to me. And now, I'm feeling it. But of course, I'm an idiot, and I bottle up my feelings.

"... [Name]? You in there?" Allura's voice interrupted my thoughts.

My head snapped up. "What? Oh, yeah sorry. I guess I just zoned out." I answered quickly. I tend to get lost in my thoughts way more often than I thought. I walked up to the control panel where all of the lions were slowly getting connected.

"What's taking so long?" I asked.

"I don't kn–" Allura was cut off by a roar that could be heard from miles away. It shook the whole castle in a triumphant roar.

     "Yes!" Allura shouted.

"Thank God!" I yelled over-zealously as I punched the air above me.

And then the alarms went off.

Hey Guys! I'm so sorry for the short chapter. I'm thinking about having the love interest come in at about the second or third book...
