Chapter Eighteen

- Yaoyorozu -

Today was the day Todoroki and I were going to the mall. I was so nervous. I probably changed five times before settling on a floral skirt with a black top. I grabbed a trenchcoat because of the chance of rain this afternoon. I went down to meet Todoroki in front of the dormitory.

He was waiting for me when I stepped out of the front door to the building.

"Hello Todoroki!" I greeted, "I hope you weren't waiting too long for me."

"No, I wasn't. Are you ready to go?"

"Yes! Let's get going!"

He nodded and led the way. I had called Mr. Chinen to come pick us up from the school grounds. He was waiting for us by the time we arrived to the front gate.

"Hello Chinen!" I said waving at him. He smiled and waved back at me.

"Nice to see you Miss Yaoyorozu." He replied opening the car door for us. Todoroki and I slid into the car.

"So what are we going to the mall for?" I asked Todoroki.

"I wanted to check if the bookstore has the book I've been wanting." He told me.

"Oh fun! I love bookstores! Maybe I can find a new illustrated encyclopedia!"

"I figured we could go to some other store too while we're there."

"That sounds fun! I'm kinda surprised, you don't seem like a shopping kind of guy."

"Oh yeah? What kind of guy do I seem like?"

"Like a stay at home and read kind of guy? Or like a gym guy? I don't know!" I laughed, "Just something with less people since you're an introvert."

"I guess you're right, but in order to read at home I need to buy books." He pointed out

"Touché!"

He smiled at me as the car came to a stop. I opened up the door and stepped out of the car. I waved goodbye to Chinen as he drive away. Todoroki and I started to walk inside.

We started out by checking out the bookstore. Todoroki wasn't able to find his book, but I did find a beautiful new encyclopedia. I decided not to buy it though. It was a little more than I wanted to pay for it. It wouldn't be too bad to wait for a sale.

Todoroki and I went from store to store just looking at stuff and chatting. I bought a couple things here and there when I saw something cute. We were crossing the center plaza of the mall on our way to the next store we wanted to go to.

"Shoto!" A woman called out. We turned to face the source and I saw a woman with white hair and red streaks in her hair waving and jogging over to us. A young white haired man was right behind her.

"Fuyumi. Natsuo. What are you doing here?" Todoroki asked with a blush. Why was he blushing? Who are these two? Why did she refer to Todoroki by his first name?

"I wanted to get some stuff for my classroom and Natsuo needed a book for his literature class so we decided to go together. " The woman, Fuyumi, explained.

"Ahh." Was Todoroki's only response. I looked at the two strangers carefully and started to pick up on familiar features. Wait a second...

"Are you Todoroki's siblings?" I asked. The two turned to me with a surprised look on their faces.

"Oh! I didn't realize!" Fuyumi exclaimed with a wide smile on her face.

"Fuyumi, no." Todoroki muttered.

"I'm Natsuo Todoroki and this is our sister Fuyumi." The boy introduced with a smile.

"Oh! Nice to meet you two!" I beamed shaking their hands. Todoroki sighed and shook his head.

"Nice to meet you too!" Fuyumi gushed, "I'm surprised our Shoto here mentioned us. I'm sure your boyfriend didn't want you to meet his embarrassing siblings yet!"

"Oh! Wait!" Todoroki exclaimed with a bright red face.

"We're not-" I stuttered, "We're not dating!"

"Yeah, we're just friends!" Todoroki agreed and I couldn't help but feel my heart clench up a little bit. I know we're just hanging out as friends, but I couldn't help but feel hurt by his statement.

"Oh! I'm sorry!" Fuyumi apologized.

"It's alright! It's an honest mistake." I reassured her.

"Well, I guess I'll get Fuyumi out of here before she embarrasses herself even more." Natsuo told us, "It was nice to meet you..."

"Yaoyorozu." I said

"Yaoyorozu. Sorry for interrupting your plans! Have a good day."

The two of them walked away and the tension in the air was thick. Todoroki and I were still blushing from Fuyumi's remark.

"I, uh, I'm sorry about her." Todoroki apologized rubbing the back of his head.

"Oh, it's ok! Really!" I halfway lied. I didn't mind Fuyumi's implication, I just wished there was a truth to her words. Maybe one day Todoroki and I will be together, but I was starting to give up hope.

"Are you hungry?" Todoroki asked

"Huh?"

"Are you hungry?" He repeated.

"Oh, yeah, a little bit." I answered him fiddling with my hands.

"Well come on, let's go get some food." He told me heading to the food court. As we neared the food court, the crowd of people got bigger and more chaotic. It was lunch time and it seemed that we weren't the only ones who were hungry. I felt a cold hand grab ahold of my own. I gasped and looked at the hand. I traced up the arm to find that the owner was Todoroki. I couldn't help but feel my face heat up.

"Todoroki, I-"

"It's busy. I don't want us to get separated." He insisted. I was surprised, but I certainly wasn't going to pass up the opportunity.

We ordered our food and grabbed a table to eat at. Somehow, despite everything that happened, Todoroki and I were back to normal chatting about anything we thought of. From pro heroes to favorite stores to books we liked and more. We stayed at the mall until closing time. We were surprised about how late it had gotten and agreed it was time to head back to the dorms.

We stood in front of the elevators and Todoroki passed me my bags that he had held for me so I could look at things easier. He kept one bag, from the bookstore.

"Did you find the book you were looking for?" I asked him

"Oh, yeah... I did." He told me glancing at the bag.

"Well that's good! I'm glad!" I smiled, "I should probably head up to bed now."

"Yeah, I probably should too. I really enjoyed today Momo, I hope you did too."

"I did. I hope we can do it again sometime" I halfway lied again. I did have a wonderful day with him; but I wish that the next time we go out it would be as a date.

"Good night Momo." He smiles turning to the elevator that led to the boy's dorms.

"Good night Todoroki." I smiled pressing the button on the girls elevator. My heart clenched up as I stepped onto the elevator. I really didn't want to say good night to him. I wanted to stay up and talk to him some more. It would be so much easier if I could say good night and crawl into bed with him. I couldn't wait to see him again, even if it was just in class. This is certainly getting out of hand... I desperately want to date Shoto Todoroki and I need to do something about it.
