In the chaos that had engulfed their lives, Soobin and Taehyun found themselves leaning on each other more than ever. The nights were long, filled with plans and heated arguments about how to undo the mess Beomgyu had created. But in the quiet moments in between, they discovered a connection that neither of them had anticipated.
One night, while Beomgyu was out visiting Yeonjun in the hospital, Soobin and Taehyun sat in the living room, a map of the city sprawled across the coffee table. The glow of the desk lamp softened the sharp angles of their faces as they talked strategy.
"Beomgyu's putting us all at risk," Soobin muttered, rubbing his temples. "I don't know how to get through to him."
Taehyun leaned back in his chair, his arms crossed. "He's hurting. We all are. But you can't carry this alone, Soobin. You've been trying to protect everyone, and it's tearing you apart."
Soobin let out a bitter laugh, his voice tinged with frustration. "That's what I'm supposed to do, isn't it? Protect my family? Make the right decisions?"
Taehyun's gaze softened, and he reached out to place a hand on Soobin's shoulder. "You don't have to do it alone. You have me."
Soobin froze, the weight of those words sinking in. He looked at Taehyun, really looked at him, and saw the unwavering support in his eyes.
"Why do you stick around?" Soobin asked quietly. "This isn't your fight."
Taehyun smiled faintly, his thumb brushing against Soobin's shoulder. "Because I care about you, Soobin. More than you realize."

In the days that followed, something shifted between them. The tension that had always simmered beneath the surface turned into something warmer, something unspoken but deeply felt.
One evening, after a particularly draining meeting with their informants, they found themselves alone on the apartment balcony. The city lights glittered below them, and the cool night air was a welcome relief from the stifling heat of their stress-filled lives.
Taehyun leaned against the railing, his gaze distant. "Do you ever wonder if we'll come out of this intact? All of us?"
Soobin stood beside him, his hands gripping the railing. "I don't know. But I have to believe we will. It's the only thing keeping me going."
Taehyun glanced at him, his lips twitching into a small smile. "You're stronger than you give yourself credit for, you know."
Soobin chuckled softly, shaking his head. "I don't feel strong. Half the time, I feel like I'm barely holding it together."
Without thinking, Taehyun reached out and brushed his fingers against Soobin's. The touch was fleeting, almost hesitant, but it sent a jolt through both of them.
"Soobin," Taehyun said quietly, his voice barely audible over the hum of the city. "You don't have to be perfect. You just have to be you. And that's enough."

As the days turned into weeks, the small touches and lingering glances became more frequent. Neither of them spoke about it directly, but the air between them crackled with an unspoken tension.
One night, after Beomgyu had fallen asleep and the apartment was cloaked in silence, Soobin knocked on Taehyun's door.
"Can I come in?" he asked, his voice soft.
Taehyun nodded, stepping aside to let him in. They sat on the edge of the bed, the weight of the day pressing down on them.
"I don't know how to do this," Soobin admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. "Any of it. Leading this fight, keeping Beomgyu together, figuring out what's happening between us."
Taehyun's breath hitched, but he didn't look away. "We don't have to figure it all out right now. One step at a time, Soobin. We'll get through this. Together."
Soobin hesitated for a moment before leaning into Taehyun, resting his head against his shoulder. Taehyun's arm came up to wrap around him, holding him close.
For the first time in weeks, Soobin felt a sense of peace. It was fleeting, but it was enough.

The next morning, as they stood in the kitchen making coffee, Beomgyu shuffled in, rubbing his eyes. He looked between the two of them and smirked faintly.
"Did I miss something?" he asked, his tone teasing but laced with genuine curiosity.
Soobin flushed, quickly looking away, while Taehyun just shrugged, a small smile playing on his lips.
"Just planning," Taehyun said smoothly, though the glint in his eyes betrayed him.
Beomgyu raised an eyebrow but didn't press further. As he grabbed a mug, he muttered, "Whatever it is, just don't let it distract you. We've got work to do."
Soobin and Taehyun exchanged a look, a silent understanding passing between them. this new found feeling could make or break their plans
