"Life's too short to not say what's on your mind."

Since being sat next to each other for about four hours, Abel and I have been talking to each other like we've been friends for years. Once I got over the initial awkwardness of it all, conversation flowed so easily that we spoke about topic after topic. For some reason though, he is only now asking me why I'm on this plane.
"So, what brings you on this extravagant plane ride Keziah?" Abel questions.
"I'm going back home from the Barbados. Not on my own of course, but with my family obviously. As if my mother would even let me travel without her. Honestly, she really just needs to relax and breathe." I ranted at him.
Abel begins to laugh loudly for some unknown reason while I stare at him in concern.
"Um are you alright? Should I call someone? You seem like you're in need of desperate help."
While laughing Abel says "N-no, I don't need help. Its j-just that you w-wouldn't stop talking! You think your mum needs to breathe but if I'm being honest so do you." Abel teases.
I give him a blank stare and look away. It's not unusual for people to call me out on my constant talking but it's not like it's even my fault. Blame my parents; I am a product of their creation, genetics and all.
"Keziah, wait look at me. I didn't mean it like that don't be mad."
Pff as if I'm angry at him, it takes a lot more for me to become frustrated.
However, I'll let him believe it for a while.
"Keziah I'm sorry. If it makes you feel any better, I actually found your rambling adorable." Abel cheekily says.
I finally turn back to face him and smile. "You're lucky I'm such an easy-going person."
"Or maybe it's my charm and ridiculously good looks that stopped you from resisting me." He smirks.
"Ha. Ha. Ha. You're so funny, it's makes me wonder how I'm not falling at your feet."
Abel chuckles at me and stares. "You have gorgeous eyes Keziah."
"Really? I've always thought they were quite boring. Plain, dark brown is truly nothing special trust me."
Abel gently grabs my face and moves it towards him.
"Well, you know what I see when I look in your eyes? Humour, kindness and passion; it's a reflection of who you are. After all, they do say eyes are windows to the soul. Not to mention they are like the colour of espresso; rich with golden flecks." Abel states seriously yet softly at the same time.
"Wow Abel, you're pretty deep for a teenaged boy. By the way, how old are you?"
"I think it's more along the lines of me being honest rather than deep and I'm 17 what about you?"
"I'm 16 years old but I am turning 17 in the next few months so yeah."
"Nice."
Taking out my phone to check any previous messages, I feel Abel look over my shoulder.
"Cool background. Boyfriend I presume?" Abel wonders in an almost harsh tone. I have no idea what the reason is for such a change in attitude.
"Boyfriend? Yeah right, this is just my idiot best friend Rolando." I see Abel's shoulders relax and his face smooth out from its slightly pinched expression at this statement.
"We've known each other basically since birth. I mean I love him and all but he can be so unbelievably annoying almost as much as-"
"HEY KEZIAH CHECK THIS OUT! YOU WONT' BELIEVE WHAT JUST HAPPENED!" My brother yells excitedly.
Oh. My. Goodness. You have got to be kidding me. How is it possible that one person is capable of embarrassing me so much?! If he could only leave me alone...
"KEZIAH IM TALKING TO YOU LOOK OVER HERE!" Marcel exclaims loudly. Like really loudly.
"Um Keziah, I think that boy is calling out for you. Do you know him?" asks Abel.
"Him? Pff noooo. He's just a random guy, I don't even know how he knows my name to be honest." I say whilst sliding down my seat.
"Well if you say so but I want to let you know that he's making his way to our seat. And fast."
"What! Ugh hide me now please I'm literally begging you."
Before Abel can respond, my brother arrives right next to me.
"Kez, I've been calling your name for the last five minutes, you really need to get your ears checked if you couldn't hear me."
"Ummm, I don't know you, why are you talking to me."
Marcel rolls his eyes and scoffs loudly. "Yeah right Kez. Who's this next to you? Ohhhh that's why your acting like you don't know me."
Marcel addresses Abel, "I'm Marcel, the worlds greatest brother to this loser."
I give Marcel an 'are you kidding me look' and turn to face Abel.
"Just ignore him and hopefully he'll go away. I mean I've been trying this for a long long longggg time and it actually hasn't worked yet but you should still give it a go."
Abel chuckles and says to me "It's alright Keziah, I do have siblings as well. Hi, I'm Abel nice to meet you." He says to marcel while shaking his hand.
"Ermm okay then, I know when I'm not wanted so I'll see you later Kez."
Turning slowly back to Abel with my head down I shyly say, "Sorry about that. My brother can be a bit much. He's actually the reason I moved seats."
"It's alright Brown Eyes if siblings don't purposefully embarrass you then are they really family? And if I'm being honest, I'm glad you moved seats because I got to meet you."
Nervously, I look up at him through my lashes and stutter, "Oh! U-um thanks, I guess. And brown eyes?" I question him.
"It's my pleasure and yeah Brown Eyes."
"Why are you calling me by the colour of my eyes? That's sounds like the cliché nickname the boy gives the girl before they fall in love and ride on out into the sunset." I exclaim dramatically.
"Maybe I want to be the guy that you ride out with."
"You're joking right? You barely know me."
"I know enough to understand who you are."
"You really are quite cocky Abel."
"Confident, not cocky Brown Eyes." Abel smiles cheekily.
"Attention passengers, we will begin descent shortly. Please make sure you are strapped in safely and stay seated until we reach the ground. Thank you." Says a feminine voice through the speakers.
Strapping myself back in properly, I get comfortable for the rest of the journey.
Surprisingly, Abel grabs my small hand and holds it in his big ones, "The descent and lift off are my least favourite parts of the journey Brown Eyes."
"Soooo, what you're saying is, you're terrified." I smirk happily.
"Basically yeah."
I burst out laughing purely from shock. "You're scared of planes?! But look at you!"
"What do you mean 'look at me'? Am I supposed to be offended? Because I have no idea how I should be feeling right now so enlighten me."
"It's just that you're quite a big guy with a pretty intimidating face so you being scared of a tiny bit of turbulence is actually pretty amusing." I state while laughing.
"Ha, ha, ha. Laugh at the big guy with a fear of planes, you're way too kind to me." Abel says sarcastically.
I chuckle loudly at him before reaching a comfortable silence.
That's when I realise his hand is still holding mine. Wait, not only are we physically touching, but his thumb is also stroking small circles on the back of my hand and its surprisingly such a nice feeling. Staring down at our intertwined hands, I notice how his are rough compared to my soft ones.
Daring to look back up at him, I find that he's already staring at me before smiling in an almost affectionate manor.
"Your hands are insanely huge you realise that, right?" I ask Abel.
"Maybe your hands are just insanely small." He says, repeating my words.
"I know for a fact that's not the case. I mean look at them! You could compete with the Hulk at this point."
"You are being incredibly dramatic Brown Eyes." Abel says while rolling his eyes at me.
"You wouldn't be the first person to tell me that."
Just as we begin the descent, Abel squeezes my hands tightly before taking deep breaths. Being the considerate person that I am, I lean my head on his shoulder for extra comfort and support, you know? I feel him stiffen slightly before relaxing and shifting closer to me.
"Thank you, Keziah." Abel says softly while looking deeply into my eyes.

Grabbing my luggage, I begin to make my way back to my family to leave the plane.
Meeting up with my brothers and parents, we go down the stairs and walk back out into the real world.
Breathing in heavily, I inhale the scent of the polluted air in the London airport.
Oh yeah, I live in Bath, a large city in Somerset and west of London. I've lived there all my life and I have to say; it is a pretty wonderful place to be. But I could be biased considering it is my hometown and all.
Just as I was about to walk forwards and out of the airport a hand swiftly grabs my arm.
"What, you didn't plan on saying goodbye Keziah? I'm hurt, I thought what we had was special." Abel exclaims playfully.
"Ha! You wish pretty boy and anyway, I don't see the point in saying goodbye since I most likely won't be seeing you again. It was nice while it lasted though, I must admit. You're quite different from a typical boy. That was a compliment by the way, just in case you didn't catch on to that. I know you can be pretty slow sometimes Abel." I tease to him.
"Oh Keziah, you wound my heart with your constant insults. I've never felt more loved."
I chuckle at him happily.
"Anyway, I just wanted to say goodbye. For now, of course. I have a feeling I'll be seeing more of you at some point. Bye for now Brown Eyes, it's been an absolute pleasure." Abel says.
"Goodbye Abel. Have a nice life!"
He turns around at starts to walk away but he stops abruptly and turns to face me. Suddenly he shouts, "And by the way, I'm not afraid of planes, I just wanted to hold your hand!" Abel laughs enthusiastically before finally jogging away.
I stand there and stare in both surprise and amusement before realising that I've been seriously played.
I feel a presence next to me before my mum speaks. "Who was that Keziah?"
"No one mother. No one at all."
