To celebrate the beginning of summer, Abel has decided-no demanded to take me out on a date.
We've gone out together several times so I'm not sure how this makes a difference but who am I to let him down?
And that is why I'm currently pulling on a green playsuit with an exposed back and long ribbon with a cropped white short sleeved top on the inside.
I'm debating between some black wedges or my trusty converse when my mum walks in.
"Time for your date is it?" She asks as she sits on my bed.
"Yup. Wedges or converse?" I reply.
Of course, knowing my mum, she'll choose the wedges since she says that I always wear trainers and nothing nice.
"Wedges Keziah." Told you.
I pull them on and move over to my chest drawers where my jewellery is.
"How is everything with you and Abel?" She Asks me.
I smile at this question, instantly thinking about our relationship.
"It's amazing mum. He makes me so happy."
"That smile makes it obvious how much you like him. You know, it's rare to find a love like yours so young. Cherish it." She replies insightfully.
"I will." As if I could do anything else but cherish it.
At that moment, my dad walks in. "Who are we cherishing?" He takes a seat next to my mum and grabs her hand to hold.
"Who else?" She responds in an obvious tone.
"Abel of course." Marcel says as he walks in.
How did he even hear us?
Just after Marcel walks in, Nolan comes running with Omari hot on his tail.
Nolan jumps onto my bed and hides behind my parents who are giving Omari a stern look.
"Omari, stop chasing your brother." My mum shakes her head at him.
"What? He's the one who- oh never mind." He huffs louldy and drops to sit cross legged on the floor.
And all of a sudden, my whole family has gathered into my room.
"Why are you guys in my room? I didn't call for a mother's meeting!" I exclaim.
"Stop being dramatic Kez." My dad scoffs.
I roll my eyes and head for my door, "Well, Abel is here now so I'm going."
They all yell a goodbye to me whilst still staying and talking in my room. It's weird.
I skip down the stairs and out the front door to where Abel is waiting for me. He's leaning on his car with his arms and legs crossed looking every bit like the model I think he is.
Since it's such a sunny day, he's dressed in some dark blue denim shorts along with a large white shirt and trainers. His face is slightly hidden with the dark shades covering his eyes but it adds to his already gorgeous look. How did I get so lucky?
"Hey babe." He says when I'm close enough. "You ready for our start of the summer date?" His mouth curves into a smile as he stares at me.
"That's what you're calling it?" I look at him in disbelief.
Abel wraps his arms around my waist and pulls me in, "What would you name this spectacular day then?" He Asks in amusement.
"Hmm." I say as I make my way to the other side of the car. "How about Abel and Keziahs adventure. Oh! We should document this whole summer together!" I clap my hands together eagerly.
"Whatever you want Brown Eyes."
"Yay! By the way, where are you taking me?"
He glances over at me, "I found this field the other day that I thought would be nice." He replies.
"You really like finding new places don't you?" I say referring to the cliff that overlooks our town.
Abel chuckles, "I found it while I was out driving. You know, to clear my head." He takes on a deep and thoughtful look that makes my brows scrunch in concern.
"Is everything okay Abel?" I ask tentatively.
He snaps out of it and throws me a clearly faked smile, "Of course. We're here."
I drop the topic since it seems like he doesn't want to talk but I can't help but feel worried. He's been acting so strange lately and I'm starting to think he's hiding something.
Since Abel has already stepped out of the car, I follow suit and immediately realise where we are.
"You took me to the Rose Field?"
"You know it?" He starts grabbing the picnic basket and some blankets out of his car.
"Yeah it's where all the couples go too. Obviously I've never been." I shrug my shoulders.
"First time for everything Brown Eyes."
I try and take the blankets from him to help but he swiftly moves them out of my grasp to place them on top of the basket before grabbing my hand.
I look up at him blankly while he smirks, "Really?" I ask.
"I don't know why you even bother anymore. Especially knowing that I won't make you hold anything while I'm here."
"Why? Does it ruin your whole macho vibe?" I look at him slyly.
"I'm way too masculine for that to happen." He puffs out his chest inducing an eye roll from me. "I just like to take care of you Brown Eyes."
I smile softly and place a kiss on our joint hands before quickly grabbing the blankets and jogging away from him.
While giggling, I turn around to look at his surprised face. "Too bad I can take care of myself."
I lay the blanket down as Abel walks the short distance to me. He places the picnic basket on the ground and pulls me towards him by my waist, "Oh believe me baby, I know. But I love you, I'll always want to look after you." H pecks me briefly on the lips before sitting down.
I finally take in our surroundings and the bright flowers blooming all around us. Several couples are dotted around the field with their chatter and laughter flowing in the air. They all look like they're in their own little bubble and it's a beautiful sight. Love is beautiful.
I glance back at Abel to find him removing different food items from the basket while humming to himself. A smile works it's way onto my face softly, "Abel?" I call out.
He looks up at me with raised eyebrows as if telling me to continue.
"I love you." I finally say.
Abel's smile shows his perfectly straight and white teeth and his eyes. Gosh his eyes. They're shining so brightly in the sun that I can almost feel the happiness radiating from them.
"I love you more Brown Eyes."
Abel suddenly reaches in the basket and brings out a bouquet of red dahlias, exactly like he did for our first date.
"More flowers?" I ask.
"Yeah, I know they're your favourite." He responds happily.
"So you got me flowers in a field of more flowers?" I ask with a slight giggle.
Abel looks around us before replying, "Oh."
I burst into laughter at his cuteness.
Abel rolls his eyes before shoving a sandwich in my face, "Turkey or chicken?"
"Chicken."
"Thought you would go for that." He laughs.
"You know me so well babe."
After eating our sandwiches, we share a tub of Pringles while asking each other random questions.
"Would you rather be able to read people's minds at anytime or be invisible?" I place a crisp in my mouth and watch Abel as he thinks about the answer.
"That's pretty tough." He starts. "But i'd choose reading people's minds. Imagine everything you'd find out." He responds.
"What do you think you'd find if you read my mind?" I tilt my head slightly at him and half smile.
Abel taps his chin with his finger, "Hmm. Probably how much you love me." He grins cheekily in a way that makes him look so adorable.
"Bold of you to assume you're the only thing on my mind." I reply with snark.
Abel throws his head back and laughs loudly drawing the attention of some of the other couples. I can't help but smile at his actions and happy he is. Especially since he's been acting a bit weird the last few weeks.
"Oh baby, I know I'm the only thing on your mind."
I shake my head at him in response and Abel rubs his hands together in a creepy manor.
I give him a strange look but he ignores it and continues on.
"My turn to ask a question. Alright, if you could travel to three places, where would you go?"
"That's easy. Hawaii, Jamaica and New York. Even though Rolos Jamaican, I've never actually gone on holiday with him sadly."
"I'll definitely keep that in mind."
We both keep ourselves occupied by tossing grapes into each other mouths when a thought hits me.
"Abel, I'm waiting till marriage for sex." I blurt out.
He freezes his tosses and stares at me with his mouth hanging open slightly. His eyes immediately widen before he catches himself and returns to a normal expression.
"Wow." He responds in shock. "How come?"
I tug on my ear nervously and look up at him through my lashes tentatively. "I think being intimate with someone in that way is such a big and important part of a relationship and it shouldn't be rushed. Yes I know marriage is a long time to wait but if it's for the right person, then it'll be worth it. Plus, I think it'll make the experience more beautiful." I end with a whisper.
Abel's quiet for a moment before he responds. "I respect that. I'll wait for you."
"You're not mad?"
"Not at all baby. I can see where you're coming from and if it means that much to you, then I'm with you all the way. Plus, it's kind of hot knowing I'm going to be the only one who touches you like that." He leans in close to press his forehead against mine.
"You're such a caveman." I laugh lightly and gently push away his head from mine.
Abel dramatically flops onto the blanket but not before pulling me down with him. I squeal at the sudden movement but lay down on top of Abel's chest.
"What makes you so sure that we'll be together for that long?" I wonder.
"Because nothing compares to the way I feel when I'm with you."

A/N:
The whole picnic in a flower field in summer sounds so nice except for the fact that I'd probably feel like dying from my hay fever allergies. Surely such an irrelevant problem should be eradicated by now?
Also, what are your thoughts on the whole waiting till marriage for sex? It's very traditional.
