"A flower cannot blossom without sunshine, and man cannot live without love." ~ Max Muller

Valentine's Day is a day when it's traditional to send a card or gift to someone you're romantically involved in or attracted to.
I personally don't have anything against this day like Rani except for the fact that it's pretty pointless.
I mean, why does there have to be one single day where you decide to something really nice for the one you love? Shouldn't you be showing that supposed love all the time in different ways?
Nevertheless, Valentine's Day at my school is pretty big now. It wasn't always like that but something happened and all of a sudden, flowers and decorations are all over the place and people try and shoot their shot with their crushes. They're sadly let down a lot of the time but it doesn't stop them.
As I walk through the hallway to head to lunch, arms wrap around my waist and a chaste kiss is placed on my cheek, "Happy Valentine's Day baby." Abel Says to me.
I turn around in his arms and wrap my arms around his neck, "You literally called me this morning to tell me that already." I say with a laugh.
"Yeah, but that wasn't in person so I had to do it again. And you have to say it back."
I roll my eyes, "Happy Valentine's Day Abel."
He detangles us and takes my bag off my back to hold it himself just like the gentleman he is.
"You know, you really don't have to carry my bag for me." I say while looking up at him.
He grabs my hand and starts swinging our arms, "I know Brown Eyes but I want too."
I just shrug my shoulders instead of arguing because I know I won't get anywhere. Abel is really stubborn when it comes to things like this. Maybe it's a masculinity thing.
We walk into the common room where everyone else already is and proceed to take our usual seats. But instead of me simply just sitting next to Abel like I normally do, he yanks me down onto his lap making me look at him in shock.
"What?" He asks innocently. "I just want to hold you."
Instead of questioning him, I lean my head on his shoulder and place a kiss in the space above his collarbone making him sigh happily. I love this boy so much. It's hard to explain how happy he really makes me.
"Aw you guys are too cute!" Exclaims Rani. "I wish I had a relationship like yours." She leans her head on her hand and looks to the side as if thinking about something.
"What happened with you and Jaden?" Ana asks.
Rani pulls a face and scoffs, "He got way too clingy. I'm pretty sure he was about to ask me to be his girlfriend the other day." She shakes her head as if that's the most ridiculous thing you could ever say.
"Um Rani, that's the whole point in pursuing something with someone. To end up in a relationship. And you just said you wished you had a relationship like Keziah and Abel's." Ana points out.
"Well I don't want that and he should respect it and I changed my mind." She flips her long straight hair over her shoulder before taking out a small mirror to check her appearance.
"Why do you even go after so many guys if you're not actually interested in them then?" Raphael tilts his head to the side and studies Rani.
"Because they're a good distraction." She Says nonchalantly.
"A distraction from what?" Questions Israel.
"My parents." She says tensely.
"What do you me-"
Ana nudges Raphael before he can finish his sentence and shakes her head at him. Raphael understands and keeps quiet.
Ranis home life is always a stressful topic. Her parents are constantly doing something to anger or upset her and I still don't know if it's on purpose or not. Either way, a conversation about them will lead to an endless rant and Rani going to find someone to help release the tension she's feeling.
I don't think it's a good way to deal with her issues but I can't exactly force her to listen to me.
I sigh loudly, feeling bad for Rani and extremely lucky and grateful for the family that I have. A lot of people take that for granted and I have to admit that sometimes I do too but I will never not be happy for the family I have.
I lean my head back to look up at Abel who looks down at me at my movement.
"What is it?" He whispers to me.
"Nothing. I'm just lucky to have you."
"Not as lucky as I am Brown Eyes."
He cradles the back of my neck and cups my lips with his before sucking gently. I love it when it he does that just like he loves when I nibble at his.
I moan softly which causes him to laugh into my mouth for some reason.
"Careful there baby, don't want to give everyone a show."
I look towards the rest of the table and find them laughing in amusement.
I pick up a handful of chips and throw them, "Stop laughing at me!" I yell.
Rolo turns around with his back to us and wraps his arms around his torso before speaking in a high falsetto voice, "Oh my goodness Abel, you're such a good kisser. I love it when you make me moan!"
"Shut up Rolo!" I start to get up from Abel's lap and pick up an empty tray to whack him with.
Rolo spins at the sound of Anas gasp and proceeds to run away shrieking like a girl.
I huff in exasperation and plant myself on Abel's lap while he chuckles at me, "You're so feisty. And by the way, I love the sounds you make. But I like them better when I'm the only one who hears them."
I try and shove him away but he keeps holding on tightly, "Then don't kiss me in public you possessive boy."
"What?! That's not what I meant."
"That's what it sounded like."
Abel groans at me, "Don't be difficult Brown Eyes."
"I'm not being difficult. You just said you want to be the only one that hears them. That literally translates into no kissing in public."
"You're taking it out of context here. Don't be sensitive about it."
"I'm not, oh my goodness."
"Wait." Abel looks me up and down, "You're not on your period again are you?"
I give him a dry look, "Are you kidding me?"
I stand up from his lap and walk round the table to sit next to Rani who's watching us with a bag of crisps in her hands.
"What did I honestly do now?" Questions Abel with a confused laugh.
"Girls hate it when you bring our period into everything dumbass." States Evelyn with an eye roll.
I don't even know how we got to this point. It's not even an argument, it's just a silly tiff.
"Okay Brown Eyes. I'm sorry. Now come back here."
"You don't sound sincere." I state with narrowed eyes.
Abel grabs onto his hair and tugs it slightly showing his increasing frustration.
"Baby come on. It's Valentine's Day, you're supposed to be all over me."
"Oh am i now?"
Obviously having enough of my attitude, Abel gets up from his seat and walks over to me before picking me up and placing me in his lap once again.
"You drive me crazy with that attitude of yours." He says huskily.
How we went from arguing one minute to cuddling another is beyond me. But Abel is quite an affectionate person so I'm not surprised it ended up like this.
"Watching the both of you is like my own free ticket to one of those soppy romantic comedies that Evelyn likes to watch." States Israel.
"Anastasia forces me to watch those too man." Adds Raphael with an eye roll.
"Don't act like you don't like them Raph. You're a secret romantic at heart." Ana smiles up at Raphael who immediately leans down to kiss her.
"And so are you Israel. You even cried at the last one." Scoffs Evelyn.
"You promised you wouldn't tell anyone!" Israel exclaims with a reddened face.
We all bust into arguments about movies and what ones we like and don't like and before we know it, lunch has flew by.
