"Ms. Shah.." Hemal heard a familiar female voice and looked over her shoulder..
"Nurse Suzie, hey, come inside.." she stood up and greeted her warmly..
"Dhruv, she's nurse Suzie, she works here in peds floor (paediatric ward including NICU and PICU) .. And he's Dhruvika's father, Dhruv Narang.." she introduced them..
"Nice meeting you, Mr. Narang.." she greeted formally..
"You know, she's really good at handling kids and especial handling Angel.. She's her favourite nurse.." Hemal muttered..
"Wow! that's great.. Thank you for taking care of my baby.." he chipped greatfully..
"Don't thank me.. It's my job.. And these tiny humans are adorable creature.. I just do everything I can to make them feel better and send them home all safe and sound as soon as possible..
Anyways, the other nurse told me she was asking for me earlier today.. Actually wasn't here this afternoon, I'm on night shift.." she said..
"She just wanted to say hi to you, that's why she was asking about you.."
"Oh, that's so sweet of her.. By the way I read her charts.. Her vitals are strong, she's stable now.. But we need to start IV drips if she doesn't eat anything.." Suzie informed..
"But she ate this afternoon.." Dhruv prompted..
"Yeah, she did, but only once a day.. And that's not enough for her.. Her body needs more.." she tried to make them understand..
"It's only eight o'clock now.. How about we wake her up and feed her the dinner, do you still need to start the drip then..??" he asked..
"If she eats normally, then I'm fine with it.. But she has to finish everything of her plate.." she said strictly..
"Deal.. I promise you, I'll feed her everything.." Dhruv muttered with confidence..
"Okay then, I'm sending her dinner in ten minutes.. And I, myself will come to check if she eats everything or not.."
"No problem.." he smiled sweetly at her and she left shaking her head..
"Dhruv, you know right, you can't save her from all these painful medical stuffs.. She needs them for her betterment.." Hemal mouthed seriously once Suzie left the room..
"I know.. But at least I can try to keep those stuff away from her until she really needs them..
I'm not a kid, Hemal, if we can't make her eat anything then I won't ask them not to start drips on her..
But for now, we can try to feed her.. It's the least thing we can do for her.." he made his point..
"Yeah, you're right.. Come on, let's wake her up and feed her the dinner..

"Hey, wake up, baby.." Hemal called Dhruvika softly, patting her cheeks..
"It's dinner time, sweetheart, come on, get up.." she chipped again..
"Um..!! Lemme sleep.. I'm not hungry.." Dhruvika mumbled in a sleepy voice..
"You haven't eaten anything since afternoon, baby.. Get up and eat something and then sleep as much as you want.. I promise nobody will disturb you after you have your dinner and even mommy has a surprise for you..
So get up fast if you wanna see the surprise.." she picked her up in her half sleep and made her sit on her bed leaning her back on the headrest..
"What surprise..??" Dhruvika rubbed her eyes like a kitten and yawned..
"Surprise trick never fails.." Hemal whispered in Dhruv's ear..
"Yeah, but do you have a surprise for her?? If not then you shouldn't have waken her up by giving her false hope.. She would feel bad afterwards.." he conveyed his concern..
"But I have a surprise for her, Dhruv.. Don't worry.." she smiled..
"Mommy, what's the surprise.." she was fully awake then and looking at her parents with big hopeful eyes..
"Ah..!! Finally you're up.. I missed your voice all day.." he muttered and caged her lovingly near his chest..
"I missed you too, Dhruv.. I wanted to play with you, but you were busy.." he could feel her pouting on his chest..
"Oh baby, I'm so sorry.. But I'm here now and I'll play with you whenever you want, okay.." he kissed her chubby cheeks and she giggled..
"Okay.. But what's the surprise..?? I want my surprise.." she chipped curiously..
"You already have your surprise, baby.. Dhruv is your surprise.. He's your dadda.. You wanted him to be your dadda, and see, you got your dadda.." Hemal muttered smoothing Dhruvik'a hair..
Hemal's sudden declaration caught Dhruv off guard.. He had no idea that Hemal was going to disclose his relation with Dhruvika like that..
"Really?? Dhruv is my dadda??" she asked with exciting glint in her big eyes..
"Yes, Angel.. Dhruv is your dadda.. He always has been your dadda.." she answered her..
"You knew he was my dadda, then why didn't you told me before.. And why he didn't stay with us before..??" Hemal didn't know how to satisfy her innocent queries.. She just closed her mouth and tried to think something.. And that was when Dhruv came for her rescue..
"Actually, baby, she planned to give you this surprise on your 5th birthday.. She knew how happy you would be when you would get your dadda..
But my baby is a good girl, actually she's the best, that's why she got her birthday gift earlier this year.."
"Wow..!! Awesome..!! I got my birthday gift earlier.." she clapped in excitement and they took a sigh of relief and Hemal thanked Dhruv through her eyes..
"I love you, mommy.. You're the best.." she hugged her remaining in Dhruv's arm..
"I love you too, baby.." she kissed her head..
"And I love you both.." Dhruv hugged those two precious women of his life and promised himself to keep them safe at any cost..

"Noo..!! It's enough.. I won't eat another spoon of this yucky food.." Dhruvika mouthed stubbornly and turned her face away..
Dhruv and Hemal were trying to feed Dhruvika her dinner from past half and hour, but they could only feed her one third of the food so far..
"You need a lot of strength and energy to get better, Angel, and only food can give you that.. So, please eat, baby.." Dhruv tried to make her understand..
"No, I don't want energy.. I won't eat.." she shook her head..
"Okay, fine, don't eat.. I'm asking the nurse to start your IV drips.. It will give you some pain first, but then you don't have to eat anything.." Hemal spoke seriously and got up from her chair..
"Dhruv, I'm going to call the nurse now.. So you don't try to feed her, okay.." she added eyeing him..
"Yeah, okay.. That's actually a good idea.. Let's get her IV drip started, then she won't have to eat this yucky food.." Dhruv too played along..
"Noooo.. I don't want IV drips.. I'll eat my dinner.. I'm a good girl.." she screamed a no and started feeding herself holding the spoon..
Dhruv and Hemal looked at each other and exchanged a victorious smile as their plan to manipulate this tiny human worked successfully..

"Done.. Now no IV drips.." Dhruvika pushed the empty plate aside and chipped with a pout..
"Okay.. No IV drips for now.." Hemal ruffled her soft hair and kissed her cheeks..
"Yay.. And now me and dadda will play.." she was super happy..
"Of course, baby.. But first, let nurse Suzie to come and check that my baby eat everything like a good girl.." Dhruv said proudly..
"Okay.." Dhruvika nodded..
After a few minutes nurse Suzie came in her room and was pleased to see that Dhruvika ate all her dinner..
She talked a little with her and then told her she should sleep then, but she kept requesting her to let her play some more.. Initially she wanted to turn down her request but knowing that she slept through all afternoon and evening, she granted her wish..
"Okay, fine.. You can play a little more and then you have to sleep.. Do you get that..??" she said strictly..
"Yeah..!! I will sleep after playing with dadda.." she gave her the best smile..
"Okay.. I will come and check on you later.. Be a good girl.." she too returned her a smile..
"Press the bell if you need anything.." she said turning to Hemal..
"Yeah, I know.." Hemal said with a smile.. Suzie nodded in response and wished them good night before walking out of the room..
"Dadda, it's playtime.. Come on, let's play.." Dhruvika squealed in happiness making both her parents chuckled..
"Of course, sweetheart.. Tell me what you wanna play..??" Dhruv made her sit on his lap and kissed her cheeks..
"I want to play with building blocks.. Let's make a castle.." she was very excited..
"As you wish.. Hey mommy, will you please get the building blocks for us.." he asked Hemal..
"Of course.." and Hemal fetched the box of building blocks from the bag which Jenna brought in the hospital earlier that day.. The bag had all her favourite toys and her other important stuffs..
Dhruvika took out all the blocks as soon as Hemal handed her the box and started making her castle..
Dhruv and Hemal watched her making the castle and helped her occasionally..
It took her an hour to build her castle and she felt very tired by the time she finished her work and dozed off after sometime..
Her face looked peaceful while she slept through the night..
And on the other hand her mommy and dadda kept glancing at clock all night and hardly closed their eyes..
They were impatiently waiting for the morning to come so they could know if Dhruv was a match for her or not..
It was a long and difficult night for them.. But they were glad that they were together in it..

Finally it was the morning of the following day and Dhruv and Hemal were asked to be in Swayam's cubical to discus about Dhruv's medical reports..
As the duo walked inside the cubical they saw Swayam discussing something with Dhruvika's paediatrician..
"Hey guys, come, sit.. I have a great news.. Dhruv is a potential match for Angel.." Swayam broke the good news to them without any delay..
"Really..?? Oh my God.." Hemal's eyes watered as soon as she heard the news..
"I'm a match to her.. That's mean she will be fine, right..??" Dhruv finally release the breath which he was holding till now..
"Yes, she will be fine if the treatment goes will.." Swayam said professionally..
"Look, I know you guys are happy knowing that Angel got a match but the treatment she has to go through before her transplant is very hard and painful.. It's not an easy procedure..
It can break her and it can break you too.. I know it would be hard but you two have to prepare yourselves to see her in pain, a lot of pain..
We will try our best to keep her as comfortable as possible but it won't make much difference..
I don't mean to scare you, I just want you two to know the truth about the treatment and have some time to prepare yourselves.." he informed them calmly..
Both Dhruv and Hemal shedding silent tears hearing Swayam..
They were terrified knowing that their baby girl has to suffer a lot in order to survive, but they were more terrified thinking about their lives without their baby.. They just wanted their little girl to live at any cost..
"We're ready for everything, Swayam.. You just start the treatment and save her life.." Dhruv muttered taking a long calming breath..
"Yeah, he's right.. Do whatever you need to do to save her.." Hemal wiped her tears off and tried to be strong for her family..
"Okay.. We will do a thorough examination of her body and then we'll start the treatment according to her reports..
I will walk you through every step of the procedure and keep you posted about her conditions and explain all the effects of the radiation and chemotherapy we'll give her.." Swayam muttered..
"Thank you.." Dhruv and Hemal said in unison before taking their leave and went back to Dhruvika's room where she was playing with Vrushikha..
They stood by the door of her room and saw her playing and giggling happily and prayed to the Almighty to keep her safe..
