Chapter Two: Obscured
Obscured - keep from being seen, concealed, difficult to understand
A/N: Heyo!
Now, I tried my best to make this not as confusing as it may be. So, if it is confusing, please let me know so I can go back and fix it.
Please enjoy? 😢
When she opened her eyes again, she found it hard to open as she was slightly tired.. After couple of attempts, Lucy was able to open her eyes, and she observed that she was surrounded by black space of nothingness.
She couldn't tell if she was laying down on her back, or standing up on her feet. Her orientation is a bit messed up right now as she tried to get her bearings right.
Lucy turned her head to the side and tried to find something that was not black, and tried to find anything that would catch her eye. But to no avail, everything was pitched black and dark.
She moved her hands and waved it in front of her face, hoping to see them. But she couldn't see them, but she knew it was there. The senstation of moving her hands was real.
The young blonde tried taking a step forward, but her legs was not responding, her legs remained still and unresponsive.
With a small sigh, Lucy closed her eyes and tried to think of another way to escape. When she opened her eyes again, there was a transparent scene in front of her.
She saw two young girls holding each other as they laid on the couch, snuggling with each other, occasionally locking lips and giving intimate touches here and there.
One girl sported a long scarlet hair, and the other sported a medium long blonde hair. And both girls seems to be lost as they kissed and looked at each other in the eyes.
As Lucy stared at this scene, she wondered why she was looking at this. Why was this so important to look at? She couldn't recognize them.
As she watched, she could see the raw emotion of their love as they shared intimacy with each other.
Then the scene began to fade away, leaving Lucy in the dark again. In the corner of her eyes, a new scene was becoming transparent and visible.
Lucy turned her head and looked at the new scene. She saw that same blonde girl yelling at some old guy with scraggly beard, and the blonde seemed really angry. The old man looker remorse and remained quiet as the blonde yelled at him. And she spotted the same redheaded girl, hiding behind a corner, as if she was not supposed to see this.
Lucy wondered what kind of drama befell these three.
Then the scene faded away once again, leaving Lucy in the dark again.
Then a new scene appeared before her. It was the same blonde, and she only held a phone in her hands as she laid in bed in the dark. Lucy watched the scene as a smile was present on the blonde as she texted on her phone.
Lucy wondered who she was texting, so she tried to move and look at the texts, hoping that her legs would be responsive. Surprisingly and thankfully, her legs was at her full control and she made her way toward the scene and tried to see the text messages.
When Lucy got close to the scene, the blonde moved in a way where she revealed her screen as she was slightly blushing.
Lucy quickly looked at the screen and saw that it was read as: "Wanna get together and perhaps smash? I'm bored and lonely."
Lucy stepped back and looked at the blonde, who was still blushing. Before she could think of any other thoughts for the matter, the scene disappeared.
Lucy stepped back and looked around, trying to find any other scenes. But it was quiet and her surroundings remained dark and cold.
Then after a few moments of quietness, a new scene arose and it was the blonde again, walking through a sidewalk. And she looked irritated and looked as if the blonde was running away, with the suitcase that she pulling behind her. Lucy wondered to what degree of situation would make this young blonde run away.
Then the scene of the angry blonde walking slowly faded away, and a new scene soon emerged.
And the same old guy was there...only more appropriate and well groomed. He was looking at the blonde is digust and anger and yelled inaudible words, to which Lucy does not understand.
And Lucy was becoming more confused. And she wondered on why she was seeing these things. It didn't concern her...does it?
She don't even know the redheaded woman or the blonde...or the old man. All she knows is...what does she know?
As Lucy thought on the fact that she doesn't know who these people are, she failed to register a new scene appearing.
As she was lost within her pang of thoughts, she was brought back to reality by a voice that she recognized.
"When will mommy come home?"
Lucy turned her head and sees herself as a little girl, crying as she stood next to her father. Her father sported the look of hatred and anger...as well as sadness.
Lucy recognized this scene...she recognized the anger in her father's eyes...was it anger? She couldn't remember. But right now, her father was really angry. Lucy didn't remember father being this angry...
"Why are we burying her?" Little Lucy cried as she continued to wiped the tears away.
"Shut up, brat." The man spat back as he trembled.
Lucy then got a feeling and turned her head and saw a familiar coffin. The familiar patterns and carvings... Something she could never forget.
"But mommy is in there!" Little Lucy continued to cry, not even registering how angry her father was.
Lucy walked toward the coffin and let her hand rest rest on the surface. However, her hand only went past it, as if everything around her were ghosts that could never be touched.
Lucy stepped back and looked at the coffin again, finding herself trembling slightly.
"Mommy is there! I don't want to leave her!" Little Lucy continued to cry as she shed some tears.
Her father only stood more rigid and angry,
Lucy watched the little girl as she cried, and the stiff man who looked like he was about to explode.
A faint roarimg engine was heard, alerting the blonde. Lucy started to looking around for the source of the engine, but she couldnt figure where its coming from.
She turned back to look back at the little girl and the man, only to see that the man's back is facing her, and the little girl is on her knees, still crying over the death of her mother.
Lucy stared at the man before turning her gaze to the small girl, and studied the details on the two characters that she remembers.
Then the sound of an engine became more apparent. And the blonde started to look around again.
Not another second, a car suddenly appeared from the corner of her eyes, and the blonde watched as it crashed into the coffin.
"Mother!" Lucy tried running toward the remains of the coffin, but her legs weren't working anymore, and all she could do was watch. "No..."
A sniffling sound caused Lucy to turn around and saw the little girl still crying. But her figure was fading away, flames slowly turning her to ashes. Lucy watched as the little girl disappeared into nothing as flames devoured her. Then her eyes traveled to the man, whose back as still facing her, and saw cracks forming. The cracks became bigger and bigger until it caused the man to crumble into tiny little pieces of dust.
Soon, imaginary wind blew it away, away from Lucy.
Lucy stood in the silence as she stared at where the man and the little girl occupied, trying to figure out why they disappeared like that. With a small sigh, the blonde turned back at the accident.
But inside of seeing the remains of the coffin underneath the damaged car, she saw two badly damaged car that is on fire.
Being confused would be an understatement. Lucy has no idea what was going on. Why was she seeing these things? Was it important? Important to her? Was she missing anything? She feels like she is missing something important.
"Open your eyes, Lucy."
Lucy snapped her head toward the source and saw a familiar figure. The blonde hair, those brown eyes, that smile... Lucy had almost forgotten what she looked like.
"Mother..." Lucy murmured before attempting to run into her mother's arms. But to her dismay, her legs were still unresponsive, and did not allow her to move.
With a small whimper, she looked at her mother. "Mother...I..."
Her mother only smiled before interrupting. "It was a close call. But it is not your time yet. Not so soon."
"Huh?" Lucy tilted her head in confusion as she looked at her mother. "What are you talking about?"
Her mother turned her head toward the two cars and spoke. "An unfortunate accident at the wrong place, and the wrong time."
While Lucy was still confused, she kept her glaze toward her mother.
The older woman turned back to Lucy with a sad smile. "It is time to wake up, Lucy."
"I-I am awake...I think..." Lucy frowned, thinking if she was awake or not.
Her mother walked toward Lucy and ghost kissed her on the forehead before looking at her in the eyes. "Close your eyes, and the next time we meet is when you are older...and I would love to hear your stories." She smiled as she cupped the younger girl's cheek.
Lucy tried wrapping her arms around her mother, but they only went past her. She pulled back, tears slowly falling down her cheeks. "M-Mother..."
"Shh..." The mother cooed before attempting on wipping the tears away, but nothing happened, and the tears fell to the ground. She paid no attention and focused on Lucy's eyes. "Close your eyes, Lucy."
"B-But..."
"Lucy...I love you very much...and I want to spend more time with you...but...now is not the time. Spend your time with the others, and grow old with them. We'll have the opportunity to have some girl talk later on."
Lucy looked at her mother, trying to commit her looks and her smile to memory.
"Close your eyes, Lucy." Her mother repeated again before raising her hands and covered the blonde's eyes.
Reflectively, Lucy closed her eyes for a moment.
After couple of moments, pain soon shot up toward Lucy's left leg and arm, cause her to flinch painfully. And her head felt like it had been hit by a train. Why does it hurt so much?
She opened her eyes again and was met with a boring ceiling. She blinked couple of times before taking a deep breath and moved her head to the right, and saw a big window with the view of a pretty landscape. Lucy looked out and admired the view for a moment before curiosity clouding her judgment.
She turned her head to the left, and noted a big brace on her left leg and arm. She tried moving them, but hissed in pain the moment she tried. After couple seconds later, she tried again, and hissed louder and groaned in pain and gave up on moving.
Lucy's eyes traveled further and saw machines around her. She registered a beeping sound and looked at the machine that emmited the sounds. She watched as the lines traveled up and down with the rhythm of the sound.
Lucy took a deep breath and looked around again. Where was she? She wasn't familiar with this environment. She wasn't familiar with this at all. Where is her father? Her mother? Where are they?
Lucy looked around again in panic. She tried moving her arms again, ignoring the pain as best as she could. She opened her mouth and tried to speak, hoping that there is someone nearby. But she soon frowned as she heard a tiny squeak escaping her mouth. She tried again, her voice becoming more silent as she tried to talk.
Being unable to speak, Lucy grows restless and anxious and she continues to look around. Her surroundings slowly started to shift as her breathing became uneven and fast. She contemplated on removing the needles that she saw was embedded in her skin that was on her right arm.
She would go and remove it, but her left arm is currently rendering unusable as it laid in a hard cast, with an addition to the pain she receives when she would move it.
Lucy let out a ragged breath and looked around more, seeing that her surroundings were becoming more blurry. As the room started to shift, the young blonde girl found herself to be hyperventilating as she looked around in panic.
Lucy started to let out ragged breath and started to squirm in pain and in panic, whimpering as she moved around.
Then she felt a slight pain in her arm and turned her head to her arm and sees a needle pricked into her and sees a nurse looming over.
Lucy's surroundings start to fade away her eyes traveled to the nurse's face. The last thing she saw was an old woman with pink hair.
...
Erza sat in the living room of her shared apartment with Lucy, still in her funeral outfit. Going to the funeral for the death of Levy and was emotionally heartbreaking, and with Gajeel going missing from the scene. She couldn't stop thinking on how Lucy would take it to find out that her best friend had past away.
She wanted to see her girlfriend's smile, her eyes...she wanted to hear her voice so she knows that she is still okay. Still alive. She wanted the reassurance that she'll be okay. The doctor that is watching over her is not the best person to seek assurance that Lucy will be okay.
Then she heard her phone ringing. Erza turned her eyes from the floor to her phone that rested on the table.
After couple more seconds, she sighed before reaching forward and grabbed her phone and answered it without looking at the caller ID. "This is Erza Scarlet, how may I help you?"
A/N: This is a wrap for this chapter! It was kinda challenging to be honest. But I would like to thank Dark_Bachelor for helping with Lucy's panic as she woke up.
