Chapter 18

Peter's POV

 I'm about to leave the conference room when Fury puts a hand on my shoulder to stop me. Tony glares at him a bit but Fury looks at him with an expression that says "I won't hurt him in any way." That causes Tony to relax and he leaves me to talk privately with Fury. I take a deep breath and shallow the lump in my throat. Fury is one of the few people that truly intimidates me. "Do you need something Fury?" He rolls his eyes. "Yes I do actually, why else would I have gestured for you to stay behind for a few minutes in here?" 

    I shrug my shoulders. "Maybe you wanted to smoke a blunt. You're a mysterious man after all. The possibilities are endless when it comes to Nick Fury." He sighs. "Listen, I just want to ask you a simple question. Are you and Tony Stark actually an item?" I nod. "We are." A moment of silence passes before he asks his next question. "Is that what you want as well as him or did he manipulate you into dating him?" Frustration builds up a bit with that question. "I'm twenty years old. I'm an adult and I consented to enter a relationship with him. No one manipulated me into it, especially not Tony." 

    "I see. I apologize if I caused any offense with that question. I just wanted to make sure that Tony had your best interests at heart. His ego has been known to get in the way of him caring for others properly in the past. You're a kind young man and a wonderful asset to the Avengers. I don't want a romance with Iron Man to change that in any way." I give him a shy smile. "Aw Fury is being soft for once. I'm just teasing you, I appreciate the concern but everything is fine. I'm happy with Tony. He makes me incredibly happy. Him and Pepper had a peaceful annulment process and are still close with one another, co-parenting Morgan without any awkwardness." 

    Fury nods, taking all of that information in. "Well as long as this new relationship doesn't interfere with your work performance in Stark Industries and on the Avengers, then it's fine with me. I'm all for it. Congratulations Peter Parker aka Spiderman. Take care." I extend a hand from him to shake and he does, quite hard because he's Fury. His grip is enough to nearly cause me to stumble onto the table. He smirks before leaving the conference room. I stay behind for a couple more minutes to admire the view of the city from in here before meeting up with Tony. He looks at me with concern. "Is everything okay?" I nod. "Everything is fine. Fury was playing the role of an overprotective father is all."

    He chuckles and wraps his arms around me, pulling me in for a gentle peck on the lips. "How sweet of Fury to care about my baby boy." Everyone stares at us with mixed reactions but I tune them out. I still blush like a tomato though because Tony has that effect on me so easily. Curse that man for being so damn attractive. That sexy, sexy man... GAH. We spend the rest of the evening going over lab reports together before making out in the lab afterwards. A few test tubes may or may not have shattered on the floor in the process. *wink wink*

I hope that you guys liked this chapter! I'll be away for the weekend come tomorrow morning so I may not update much if not at all for the next few days. I just wanted to give you a heads up. :) -Mary
