The Prince's Apology.
Mastueo Castle
22:02 PM
Run! His feet began to move until he stepped on a small box. It was the one she had thrown earlier at him. He picked it up and opened it. Inside was a half of a keychain. It said "Best." Along with it was a small folded letter that seemed to have been folded around a million of times to get to its miniature size. He unfolded it as in neatly readable cursive writing it read:
Congratulations on your marriage, hope this doesn't change anything.
-Hinata
He crumbled the piece of paper and threw it into his jacket. She must have the other half then. He admired the keychain as he placed it into the box once again. He sighed as he started running farther from the castle.
"Teme? Where are you going?" Naruto called out to him but it was no use.
There was no turning back.
Mastueo Village
22:34 PM
The village lit up by the many lanterns that were always surrounding the kingdom. The shops were still lively around this time as many tired people would stop for a late night drink or an emergency grocery run. The first place the prince decided to check was her bakery. As he arrived he was greeted by her parents who were dancing around.
"Oh Sasuke-sama, hello." Hinata's father stopped as his smiled dropped at Sasuke's expression.
"What's wrong?" Hinata's step-mother said for him.
"Nothing, Hinata isn't here?" He asked nervously.
"No, she said she was going to ball. She was so happy." Her mother said to the prince.
"Where's my daughter?" Her father said concerned.
"I can't find her." Sasuke admitted.
"I knew she wouldn't handle today." Her father sighed.
"Why wouldn't she?" Sasuke asked.
"Sit down, please." Her father opened the door that was patched up, hidden in the wall.
Inside the door there was a shrine dedicated to a woman who looked similar to Hinata. There were freshly red roses laid near the picture.
"Who's that?" Sasuke looked down.
"Hinata's mother." Her father said upset.
"What happened to her?"
"Long ago, during the war her mother was killed." His father shook his head.
"Don't tell me." Sasuke said.
"On Hinata's birthday. She was 5 when it happened right before her." Her father said as her mother stood silent also.
"Who would do something like that?" Sasuke said angrily.
"It was a royal guard. One of your people." His father sighed as his wife rubbed his back gently.
Then it all made sense. Her hatred for royalty. Every single word she had spewed at him made sense.
"I really thought you were different!"
"I forgot it was my birthday."
"He doesn't need to know, dad."
All of her words clicked into his mind as if the missing puzzle piece was finally put together. How could've I've been so stupid. He was angry. Not at her. At himself.
"May I pay my respects?" Sasuke asked as her parents looked at each other in shock but agreed.
I know I messed up. But please help me find your daughter.
"Sasuke-sama, if you please. I think it would be best to let Hinata have some time to herself." Her father said.
"Sir, I will not give up. I swear I'll make your daughter the happiest girl in the world." He left running out the bakery shop leaving her parents with blushed and shocked faces.
The wind created a trail of lavender petals as if it were a sign, as if it were calling out to him. He decided to trust his gut enough to follow them. He followed them through the stores, the markets, the crowds of people as it eventually lead him to her place. That place she called home.
Home
23:00 PM
She was sitting on the rocks on top of the waterfall as she was signing a lullaby her mother used to sing to her all the time. It was one of those old rock tunes that her mother was a huge fan of.
"And anytime you feel the pain, hey Jude, refrain. Don't carry the world upon your shoulders.."
My, how the prince was astonished at the sound of her voice that he wished he could listen to it longer but now was not the time.
"So, you do have a girly side?" The prince said which caused her to turn which hateful eyes towards him.
"I thought I told you I don't ever want to see you ever again." She turned around once more.
"Hinata, hear me out." He said as he started climbing the rocks.
"No way, I'm leaving." She said as she started getting ready to jump off into the waterfall.
Suddenly the prince's hand slipped.
"Hinata!" He yelled as she sprung towards him grabbing his hand.
He smiled as he brung her down and held her tight into his embrace as they were falling together towards the water.
"I'm sorry." He whispered in her ear as they splashed into the bottom of the waterfall.
"Oy! That was your plan from the start!" She yelled angrily at him.
"Does it really matter? You were going to jump anyways." He said as she drained the water from her dress as she was about to walk out, he pulled her down.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" She yelled as he cleared her bangs from her face and rubbed the eyeliner from her eyes. He looked down and noticed how her curves were perfectly displayed on her body.
She hid those with baggy clothes?
"What are you looking at?" She said annoyed.
"You know.." He leaned closer to her face.
"W-What?!" She said as her face began to blush a little.
"You look like a raccoon with your eyeliner smudged like that." He said into her ear which caused him to get punched in the shoulder.
"And whose fault do you think is that?" She said angrily.
"Yours."
"Huh?"
"You have no reason to wear makeup." He said as he got up and drained his clothes as he pulled her out of the water.
"What is that supposed to mean?" She said as she drained the water from her dress once again and used the reflection of the water to remove her makeup fully.
"You just don't need too." He said.
She sighed as she stood up only to be greeted by the prince on his knee with his hand out towards her.
"What?" She said.
"I still owe you a dance." He said.
"There's no music." She said.
"That song, you were signing earlier..can you hum it?" He smirked.
"Okay." She said as she began to hum the melody of the song.
She placed her hand into his as he held onto her waist. Their hands intertwined as he twirled her around and began to dip her as for the first time their eyes met. Her eyes were like the moon itself. She looked back up to him as if he had stolen the whole galaxy and hid them in his eyes. Their faces leaned closer but did not touch as they continued dancing.
"Hinata, I'm sorry for everything." He said.
"It's okay." She laid her head onto his chest as even if they were soaking wet there was something there keeping them warm.
They were slow dancing now but stopped once Hinata stopped humming.
"That was the end of the song." She laughed nervously.
Why can't songs last longer?
He took Hinata's hand as he made them sit down on a tree next to the waterfall.
"Hinata." He said to her.
"What is it?" She turned around only for her face to be way too close to his.
"O-Oh..uh.." The prince was flustered for the first time in his life as he dug into his pocket quickly and pulled out the box.
"Do you have the other half?" He pulled out the keychain.
She dug into her purse as she pulled out the other half.
They put them together as the complete words were "Best Douchey Friends."
Once he read it, he laughed which caused her to blush a little.
"By the way, what type of joke is this?" He pulled out her letter.
"Joke?" She said confused.
"I'm not marrying Sakura." He said ripping up the paper into the air as the wind blew it away.
"H-Hey!" She said as she watched it fly away.
"I'm marrying someone else." He winked at her.
"I see." She smiled but deep down it hurt her.
"That person, I told her father I would make her the happiest girl in the world." He smiled.
"That's nice." She smiled once again.
"Baka." He smirked as he took her once again into his embrace and his lips met hers for the first time.
It's you.
