-Chapter Twenty-One-
A week had passed since the fight, which the family had begun to refer to as the 'earthquake', which certainly defined it well. Everything seemed to be destroyed, and everyone walked carefully around the ruins. The ruins, of course, meant Frisk and Chara.
Frisk was distraught. She knew that she was wrong, and that all this truly was her fault. She desperately wanted Chara back, but was afraid that she wouldn't be forgiven. Frisk felt she didn't deserve forgiveness, after what she did.
No words were shared between the two except the polite greetings in the morning and requests to pass the salt. The tension that surrounded them was so thick you could see it.
But, for the first time since the earthquake, they were at the house alone. The goat family was at the store, while the skeletons were, well, Frisk didn't know exactly where they were. Papyrus was probably 'guarding' them, while Sans joked his way out of every awkward situation.
Frisk put in her earbuds and scrolled through the Undernet, taking a deep breath and opening Chara's PM. Tears pricked in her eyes as she read her messages from the week, and her Favorites playlist began to play.

Things we lost to the flames.
You: Chara.
You: I'm sorry.
Things we'll never see again.
You: Hello?
You: Please Chara...
All that we have amassed.
You: I didn't mean it.
You: I'm sorry. Please answer.
Sits before us, shattered into ash.
You: Hello?
You: Okay.
You: I'll wait for you.
These are the things, the things we lost.
You: However long it takes.
With shaky fingers, she typed a new message.
You: Chara?
The things we lost in the fire fire fire.
Chara: ...yes?
You: I miss you.
Chara is typing.
Frisk exhaled, clutching her phone. What would Chara say? She jumped as her phone gave a little ding. But it was just an update from Asriel.
Asriel- Nuuuuuuuuuuu! Mama why?! Why must we go to the flower section?! I thought you loved me! ;~; >~< #triggered #wakemeupinside #thisistherootofmyproblems #loveyoutoomother
These are the things, the things we lost.
Despite her mood, she giggled. Until her phone dinged once more.
Chara: I know. I miss you too... But,
The things we lost in the fire fire fire.
You: What?
Chara: ...
Frisk's ears rung as Chara typed, blocking out the music and all of her thoughts. She nervously tied the earbud string in a knot, chewing on her lip. Her heart skipped a beat as her phone alerted her to a new message.
Chara: I want to forgive you. I really do. But the things you said really hurt.
I was the match and you were the rock. Maybe we started this fire.
You: Guess I really fucked things up.
Chara: Sorry.
We sat apart and watched all we had burned on the pyre.
You: There's nothing to be sorry for.
Chara: I've been ignoring you.
You said we were born with nothing. And we sure as hell have nothing now.
You: I suppose I don't deserve it. I really didn't expect you to answer
me.
You said we were born with nothing. And we sure as hell have nothing now!
Chara: heh. As much as what you said hurt me, it hurt more to try and ignore you.
These are the things, the things we lost.
You: I'm sorry.
The things we lost in the fire fire fire.
You: I love you.
Do you understand that we will never be the same again?
Chara: I... I can't do this, Frisk.
Do you understand that we will never be the same again?
You: Chara, please...
The future's in our hands and we will never be the same again.
Chara: Not now. I need time. I don't feel well.
The future's in our hands and we will never be the same again!
You: Please don't leave!
These are the things, the things we lost.
Chara has logged off...
The things we lost in the fire fire fire.
You: Chara!
These are the things, the things we lost.
You: Are you okay?
The things we lost in the fire fire fire!
Frisk ripped her headphones out, listening closely. Something, no, nothing. She heard nothing. And that wasn't right. She stood up, slowly walking up the stairs. She pushed open the door of Chara's room, but. it was empty. She went through all the rooms, but no one came. Frisk listened again, and this time a faint sound entered her ears. A whimper, coming from back downstairs. She followed it, ending up at the door to the bathroom.
Her heart hammered in her chest as she opened the door. Chara was standing in the bathtub, her fist clenched. Her eyes were wide and haunted, while tear stains shone on her cheeks. As Frisk slowly approached her, she began to speak.
"I'm sorry," she whispered,"I can't. I can't do it."
"What's the matter?"
Chara shook her head frantically,"I'm sorry."
Frisk took Chara's hand and pried her fingers open.
The first thing she noticed was the blood.
Then the razor blade that had fallen into her hand.
"Chara!"
"I'm sorry!" she sobbed,"I didn't mean it!"
Frisk pulled her out the bathtub and turned on the sink, putting Chara's hand under the warm water.
"Wash it." she ordered, turning to the closet. She dug through the random stuff, setting aside baby powder and mouthwash and grabbing bandages and disinfectant spray. She set them on the counter and examined the cut. It wasn't large, but it was deep and still oozing blood.
"This is going to hurt."
She sprayed the stuff on her hand, and Chara gasped, trying to pull her hand away. Frisk kept her grip, and tightly wrapped the bandages around her palm. She held Chara's hand for a moment longer before letting go. Chara looked down, drawing her hand to her chest. Frisk sighed, placing the back of her fingers on Chara's forehead.
"You're burning up. Come on, bed."
She led Chara to her room, despite her weak protests.
"Fuh-risk! You're not my mom."
"No, but I am your g-" she cleared her throat,"sister. You're my sister and you're sick."
They both went quiet as they entered the room. Frisk sat on the edge of the bed while Chara climbed under the covers.
"I'm not going to ask why, Chara. I...I can guess the reason. I'm going to ask, no. I'm going to beg you not to ever do it again. Please."
"I-I'm sorry. I don't know what came over me."
"Shh. It's okay... Chara, look. What we're doing is so stupid. It's stupid and childish and I'm done. This is just wasting time, and I'm sick of it. We either have to make up or break up."
Chara responded by sitting up, smiling widely, and pressing her lips against Frisk's.
Guys, if you ever, ever think of cutting, please don't. Talk to me, to anyone. I'm always here, for anyone.
Anyway, the song is called Things We Lost In The Fire by Bastille. I just heard that song yesterday and it fits perfectly and I love it. If you find the pun I hid in this chapter tell me. Almost 5k O.o
