-Chapter Thirty-Three-
Frisk looked at her baby, her eyes slightly wide with shock. She was still slightly freaked out by what had just happened. Her hair was damp with sweat, and her cheeks were flushed a bright shade of red. Her fingers shook as Chara squeezed her hand.
"He's beautiful."
My child. My son.
"Cory." Frisk whispered, glancing up at Chara,"Cory Dreemurr."
"Cory." Chara repeated,"Cory James Dreemurr."
Frisk's eyes drooped, she was so tired. Chara kissed her forehead softly and picked up Cory. Frisk felt a strange pain when her baby was pulled away from her, and she had the most unexplainable desire to yell at Chara, to jump up and take her child back.
But she was so tired.
"Sleep." Chara whispered, sitting on the bed,"I'll always be here."
---
Frisk blinked her eyes open slowly. The room was dark, and a glance at the clock told her it was early morning, almost six fifteen. Chara was sleeping next to her, and Frisk heard Cory cooing softly from his crib by the bed. Frisk carefully got out the bed and stood by the crib.
"Hey, baby. Hey."
Cory looked up at her, his pale eyes shining. Frisk reached down and picked him up, cradling him to her chest. She hummed softly, and sat in the large chair that used to be Toriel's.
Cory started making noises again, little chirps and squeals. Frisk giggled,"Shh. You're gonna wake up your mommy."
Cory settled down and was soon back asleep. Frisk gazed at him, rocking slightly. He had round, pink cheeks and a fine layer of dark brown hair. His eyes were a strange color, a pale red that almost looked golden in the light.
Frisk felt warm all over when she held him, a feeling of love she didn't expect to ever feel.
"I love you. Not even a day, and I know that already. Before you were born, I didn't know how I felt about you. I was scared, really. B-but, now I know better. I'm not scared anymore. I know that I love you so, so much."
"I didn't know you felt that way." Came a drowsy voice.
Frisk jumped,"Chara! Did I wake you?"
"Nah. But, what you were saying, about not behind afraid, I have to admit something. I don't know if I will ever truly love this child. Please, just listen to me. While you were pregnant, I was so mad. I was so angry because of what you had to go through. And, just looking at him, I can't help but be mad."
"Chara, I am okay. I've accepted what happened, and it can't be changed. I wouldn't want it to change! All I ever wanted was to raise a family with you, and now I can! Maybe it was sooner than anticipated, and different circumstances than we'd want, but it's happening now! Please, stop being angry at someone that we'll never see again."
"Y-you're not even interested in finding them? In giving them what they deserve?"
"No, I'm not. Chara, there's no changing it, no matter what you do. So just forget about it! I have a baby, and I'm sure as hell not going anywhere for a while! So stop living in the past and focus on who is right in front of you! Please!"
Cory started fussing, alerting Frisk that they were getting loud. She rubbed his head slowly, marveling at how soft he was. Chara watched them, her eyes cloudy.
"I never expected to live in peace." Frisk began, not taking her eyes off Cory,"Not when I know how many people were, well, are angry at me for bringing the monsters back up. I knew people would target me and blame me for their problems. I expected nothing more than hatred from all humans. That's all I was ever shown, as a kid."
"Frisk-"
"I want him to grow up knowing he is loved. I don't want him to be afraid to go outside by himself because people hate his mother and might hate him for it. I don't want him to grow up like I did, as a freak..."
"Frisk, no. You're not a freak."
"Ha! Of course I'm not! I'm just a totally normal human who's died more times than I can count and has the power to reset the entire world! You know, that sounds an awful lot like you! I guess you're not a freak either, then!"
Chara took a breath,"Frisk, stop it."
"Sorry. I'm just tired, I guess."
"Okay. I'm gonna try to get a little more sleep. Be good."
Frisk smiled, but she was still unconvinced that she would ever be able to be the mother that Cory deserved.
---
Frisk stared at the birth announcement that Jojo had handed her. In bold orange letters and a crazy font, it read:
It's a boy!
Cory James Dreemurr.
6 lbs, 7 oz, 19 in.
February 4th, 20XX.
"They're, uh, great! So, are you going to send one to everyone?"
"Uh huh!"
"Um, perfect! Just, hold on with those, okay? I wanna do somethings first."
"Okay! But I hope you can do it from your bed. Toriel's not gonna let you go anywhere."
Jojo was right. Frisk was confined to her bed until she recovered. Chara surprisingly enforced the confinement, telling Frisk not to move at all. Frisk sighed,"Welp, could you bring me my computer? I want to see if there's anything new on 'Humanity's Only Hope'."
---
"Sir." The boy ran into the room, breathless,"It's happened. The plan can go into action."
He handed the man a small slip of paper,"I found it in their garbage."
The man read it, a strange, sadistic light in his eyes,"Very well. Gather the others."
A few minutes later, the man's most trusted advisers were gathered in one room.
"I have an announcement! Stage three has been preformed, and stage four will soon follow! In less than three months, we will have won this war!"
Cheers broke the silence for for a few moments. When everyone was quiet, he spoke again.
"Does everyone understand theirs roles and who is to watch which subject at what time?"
Everyone murmured their 'yeses', but one guy, about twenty with golden hair and challenging eyes, stood up,"Why do we have to be so vague? Surely it would be easier to just use their names, right?"
Reigh stared at him and the man gasped, almost immediately coughing up blood. He ran out the room. Satisfied, Reigh cleared his throat,"I have explained time and time again why we cannot use their names. Anyone could be listening. You are the only ones who know what I am talking about, and I'd like to keep it that way." He glared around the room, his icy gray stare sending chills down everyone's back,"Now, Humanity's Only Hope will not fail! We will achieve our goal of purifying our beautiful town from the dirty stain of monsters! We will win!"
Cheers rang out as Reigh gazed at his followers, confidence flaring up in his eyes.
Ahh you can small the angst from a mile away. So, a boy, and know you know what that new POV was. What do you think is their plan? What was on the paper the boy gave Reigh? Who was that boy? And Reigh seems very powerful, don't you think? Why do you think Chara feels as if she cannot love Cory? Lots of questions today lol. :3
