-Chapter Thirty-One-

Frisk dreamt. Not of genocide or the foreboding note. Not of hate, fear, or anger. Frisk dreamt of love.

In her dream, Frisk and Chara were on a beach. The sun was setting, lighting the sky up with multiple beautiful colors. To their left, a young child played in the sand. Frisk was overwhelmed by the rush of happiness she felt in her dream. The happiness was so strong, she woke up with a huge smile on her face.

Chara was propped up on one elbow, watching her, wearing a sleepy smile,"What's making you so happy?"

"You are. I had a nice dream." Frisk nuzzled into Chara's neck.

Chara smiled and wrapped her arms around Frisk. After a few minutes, they both dozed off again. A couple hours later, Frisk woke up and stretched. It was a little after five o'clock, just half an hour before the sun rose. Frisk quietly got unentangled from Chara's arms and the blanket, and got them both clothes. After changing, Frisk watched Chara sleep for a few moments.

Frisk gently poked her cheek, and whispered,"Hey, get up."

Chara groaned,"Mmm. Why? I just wanna cuddle."

"You're gonna want to see this."

"Fine. Just so you know, I'm only getting up 'cause I love ya."

Frisk giggled,"I'm glad."

Chara threw off her blanket, and Frisk blushed when she saw the small shorts that she was wearing. Chara smirked and got dressed as Frisk averted her eyes. When she was done she gave Frisk a quick kiss and stretched.

"So, why'd you want me up?"

"Come outside."

Chara nodded and yawned as they headed to the front yard. Frisk laid back on the yard and told Chara to sit down. They sky was dark, with a few stars glimmering between the many clouds. On the far horizon, where Frisk's gaze was locked, the darkness of the sky slowly faded to a milky blue.

Another minute past as the sky–slowly but surely–lightened. Suddenly, the atmosphere exploded in bright blues, fiery oranges, and rosy pinks.

Chara's eyes widened,"Woah. I might get up early, just to see this."

Frisk smiled, and the two watched for a few more seconds. When the show for two ended, Chara stood up.

Frisk tried to stand up, but was stuck,"Huh! Chara, help me!"

Chara took her hand and heaved her up. Once back inside, Chara escorted Frisk to the couch and sat her down.

"Sit. I'm gonna make breakfast."

Frisk raised an eyebrow,"You? Actually cook something? That'll end well."

Chara just snorted and walked to the kitchen. Frisk giggled and flicked the tv on. After a few minutes, Frisk was surprised that she didn't smell anything burning. After a while past with only three muffled curses from the kitchen, Frisk began to think that maybe Chara could cook something.

One commercial later, Chara emerged from the kitchen balancing two plates in her hands. On the plates, there was a couple barely burnt pancakes drowning in syrup.

"Don't say a word about the amount of syrup."

Frisk giggled,"I wasn't. Now, sit by me. I'm cold."

She rubbed her arms for emphasis, and Chara smirked, sitting down. With only the noise of the tv and everyone else sleeping, the house was unnervingly quiet. After a few bites, a sharp pain in her stomach made Frisk gasp and drop her fork.

     "Frisk? Are you okay?"

"Yeah." Frisk hissed through clenched teeth,"J-just a kick. Ah!"

     "Frisk!"

She leaned back, swallowing between sharp gasps,"I'm... Okay." She managed.

Finally, the pains stopped. Staring at her plate, Frisk pouted.

     "What's wrong?"

"I dropped my fork in the syrup."

"Oh. Well, we'll just have to share my fork."

Chara poked a bite into Frisk's mouth. When the plates were clear, Chara set them aside and threw her arm around Frisk's shoulder. They watched tv for a while, then Chara sighed.

     "What is it, Chara?"

"I just...I worry, Frisk. You're due any day now, tomorrow, actually, and we have no, um, arrangements."

Frisk groaned and snuggled closer into Chara's sweater,"Do we have to?"

"Yes, Frisk. I want you to go to the hospital-"

Frisk shook her head vigorously,"No. I am not going to a hospital."

"Why not? I don't want you to get hurt."

"I'll be fine here with mom! She has healing powers, you know."

"I-I know, but I'd feel better if you were with, um, professionals."

"Chara, I am not arguing with you about this. I having the baby here, and that's final."

Chara shook her head slightly, a small smile crossing her face. Frisk giggled and kissed her cheek. Asriel walked down the stairs. Well, more like nervously ran. He was wearing a hat, which, with his horns, was quite strange.

     "Az? What's up?"

     "I-I'm fine. N-nothing's wrong. I've g-gotta go."

He darted off almost as fast as he came. Chara smirked while Frisk gave a quizzical look to where he ran off to.

"Chara, do you know what's going on with him?"

"Not a clue. Something strange, that's for sure."

A few minutes of amused silence past, then Toriel walked down, yawning.

"Good morning, children. Have you seen Asriel? He wasn't in his room when I got up, and Asgore left a note saying his door was locked."

"Yeah, he ran off a while back, acting weird. Oh, we have some, uh, plans, I guess."

They told Toriel what they wanted to do. When they got to the part about using her healing powers, she had smiled and blushed,"Oh! I'm glad you place so much trust in me."

"Of course we trust you! Neither of us would be alive if it wasn't for you!"

Toriel blushed again,"Well then, I'm glad I found you."

Frisk yawned and snuggled closer, warmth flooding through her. She was loved, and she would never have to be alone.
