-Chapter Fourteen-

//Hey, please read all the way to the end. I'm putting a pretty important a/n at the end that I really want you to read. Thanks! ^^//

Chara yawned, blinking in the bright sunlight streaming through a gap in the curtains. She groaned and sat up, pulling the blanket off her legs. Frisk was gone, and she had set out clothes for her. Chara inspected them, slightly confused.

There was a light green, knee length dress with a circle of little yellow flowers going around the short right sleeve. Toriel had bought this dress for Chara's birthday, and she had never expected to wear it. There was also a simple gold chain with a heart on it and a pair of black boots.

Chara put on the clothes, all the while questioning what Frisk had planned. Looking into the mirror, she suppressed a small gasp of shock. Small red splotches decorated her shoulder and neck. She tugged the collar of the dress up, a strange feeling surging beneath her skin.

She walked downstairs and into the kitchen, greeted by Frisk sitting at the table. She jumped up, smiling widely.

"Beautiful! You really should wear dresses more!"

Chara blushed,"T-thanks. You look nice too. Um, what's the occasion?"

Frisk was wearing a solid dark blue dress with the same boots and necklace as Chara. She grinned, bouncing.

"We're going to, uh, somewhere. It's a surprise! Come on, I warmed up some pie for you, mom made tons last night."

Chara dug into a piece of apple pie, face burning as she thought of last night. Toriel had probably been unable to sleep after walking in on them. She finished the pie and placed the plate in the sink. She went into the living room where Frisk and Toriel were talking.

"Good, you're ready, let's get to the car."

They walked to the car, Chara sitting in the back seat next to Frisk. Toriel backed out of the drive way, glancing back at them.

"Frisk, do you want to tell Chara where we're going?"

"No, I'll give hints and she can guess. Okay, we met three new friends from here."

"Um, I don't know."

"Okay, we haven't been here for over a year."

"No clue."

"Fine, you leave me to resort to desperate measures. If you don't get it after this, I will end you. This is where you asked me to be your girlfriend."

Chara smiled as memories from nearly two years ago flooded in her mind.

     "Chara! Come see this!"

Chara slowly walked over to the tank Frisk was pointing at. Her heart fluttered in her chest as she neared her. She had nursed a desperate crush on Frisk for almost a year, constantly yearning for her touch. She had been overjoyed when Frisk agreed to go on a date with her a month ago, and two more dates had followed that one. But Chara needed finality, she needed to be assured that Frisk was hers and hers only.

And today she would either get shut down or lifted higher up than she had ever been.

Frisk grabbed Chara's arm, sending waves of energy flowing up her arm, and pointed at a orange and black fish.

     She giggled,"Found him!"

Chara smiled, then swallowed nervously,"Um, Frisk. I, I wanted to ask you something."

     "Okay, shoot."

"Would you, um, will you be my girlfriend?"

Frisk went silent, face blank. Chara's eyes widened,"I-I mean, if y-you w-w-want to."

Frisk smiled,"Of course! Sorry for making you 'flounder' for an answer."

     "Really."

     "Sorry not sorry."

     "Teralor!"

---

"Oh my gosh you two haven't changed a bit!"

     "Heh heh, thanks, Mrs. Alexia."

"Nonsense! Call me Alexia. And what's this I heard about you two being together? Keeping secrets, are we?"

"Sorry, you left three days to early."

"Of course. And Toriel, twins? It didn't seem like that long ago we were at your house. Come on in, Justin's at work, Malayia's in her room."

"Thank you, but the girls won't be staying long. They've got places to go."

"Oh, to be young again. Well, I won't keep you. Have a cup of tea before you go though!"

Chara sat at the table, sipping the tea. It tasted good, different from the Golden Flower tea they usually had. Alexia said the tea was called Silver Rain. Frisk sat on one side of her, and baby Malayia was on the other side gnawing on a rubber spatula. Frisk's empty cup clinked on the table at she set it down, wiping her mouth with a mountain.

"Thanks for the tea, but Chara and I have to leave."

"It's no trouble!"

"Be good children! Text me when you're on your way back."

"Okay mom. Come on Chara, onward!"

Frisk skipped down the three flights of stairs and out the apartment complex. Chara hurried next to her, and they kept a steady pace deeper into the city.

"So, what are we doing? I have no clue where you're taking me."

"I have a big day planned. We're going to a bunch of stores, because I know you just adore shopping. Then we'll go to lunch, my treat. After lunch we'll go watch Independence Day: Resurgence. The first movie was so good. Then we can go get ice cream or something. That's all I have planned, but who know what will happen."

"Wow. How long have you been planning this?"

"Oh, about a week. Toriel suggested that we meet Alexia and them. Also, I know you might not like this, but we have to meet Jojo at 4:30 in Sweet Boutique."

Chara breathed deeply. This was fine. She wouldn't let Jojo ruin this wonderful day.

"Is this after the movie?"

"Yes. We can pick her up on our was back."

"Good. Now, you know where we're going, right?"

Frisk nodded, and they walked in comfortable silence for about five minutes. Teralor wasn't that big of a city, but it was bigger than Ebbot View. Chara was slightly breathless by the time they made it to the shopping center.

Frisk pulled Chara into a store called Hoppy Shopping. The whole stores theme was rabbits for some strange reason. Chara found it revolting and weird, but Frisk insisted that it had the best clothes.

Chara eventually picked out a white and blue sundress and a black skirt with a purple shirt to please Frisk. They walked to the fitting rooms, and because the store was so busy, they had to go in the same one. Chara felt a stab of embarrassment as she changed clothes, but it was quickly diminished by a surge of confidence. So what if Frisk saw her half naked? They were girlfriends, after all.

Chara was broken out of her trance as Frisk giggled. Chara had been slowly twirling, unaware that she was moving at all. She gasped inwardly as she looked at Frisk.

She was wearing a stunning white dress with a floral pattern in gold glitter. It was a simple dress, but it complimented every curve in Frisk's body. Chara took her hand, still speechless.

They kissed, both having to restrain themselves from letting it escalate any farther, seeing as it was in public. Eternities seemed to pass, and nothing mattered but the other. Sparks flew beneath Chara's eyelids, and a new passion struck her with such force she nearly fell over.

They broke apart, breathing heavily.

"We should go... Pay for the stuff."

They paid and left, window shopping until it was time for lunch. They were almost to the restaurant when they passed a candy store. Chara was drawn inside by the smells.

The colorful store was filled with buckets of candy in every color imaginable. Hardly knowing what she was doing, she grabbed a small bag and began browsing the rows. Frisk ran to her, still looking around.

Chara squealed,"It's like a candy buffet!"

"You're such a little kid."

"I know!"

After nearly twenty minutes in the store, Frisk had to drag Chara out. They sat in the restaurant, eating fried pickles. Chara purposely kept taking the one Frisk was reaching for. After the tenth time, Frisk playfully swatted her hand and Chara pouted in mock sadness. Their food finally arrived, a medium pizza, half pepperoni and half bacon.

Chara reached for a slice, fully expecting Frisk to take the one she was aiming for. But it didn't happen. Frisk was staring at her empty plate, a frown crossing her face. It faded as she shook her head, a smile reappearing.

Silence descended on them as they ate, playing a small game of footsies under the table. Frisk giggled, throwing a pepperoni at Chara. She pretended to not notice it, hoping to not draw attention to them.

---

"That movie was awesome!"

"I know! With the giant aliens! So cool."

They headed to Sweet Boutique, swinging their bags of stuff. Chara pulled out her bag of candy, offering a candy corn to Frisk. Besides chocolate, candy corn was Chara's favorite candy, but it was so hard to find beyond October. She glanced at her watch, 3:40. Still almost an hour before Jojo was due to arrive.

So they explored the store. Chara found several cute hair clips, and the most adorable little bow. She put a glittery silver butterfly clip in her hair and went behind Frisk, who was inspecting the bracelets.

     "Do you like it?"

Frisk spun around, smiling quickly,"I love it!"

But Chara had seen the sadness in her eyes.

Chara couldn't help but be worried. Frisk seemed to be falling into depression, going deeper every day. She couldn't understand why, Frisk seemed to be over what had happened to her, but what else could it be? Frisk had been very unenthusiastic about almost everything, and she was quick to smile or laugh when someone looked or talked to her. She looked at the ground, putting the hair clip back. She forced the grim thoughts out of her head as Jojo walked into the store, if Frisk didn't want to tell her what was going on, Chara wouldn't push for information.

"Hey girls! Ready to go home?"

Chara nodded, watching Frisk through the corner of her vision. As Frisk wiped her eyes, Chara's fears were confirmed.

Something was wrong with Frisk.

---

Jojo chatted on as they walked, unaware that no one was really listening. Or perhaps she knew no body cared, and was just trying to fill the silence. They were on the street just before the apartment complex, which looked like a dead end but actually turned right and into the street the complex's was on.

They were about to turn when they were cornered by a group of about seven men, looking from about nineteen to twenty-three. Chara felt fear shoot through her, and Frisk began shaking behind her. Jojo said nothing, just pushed them behind her, eyes glimmering dangerously.

"Well, well, well. Look at what we have here. All alone, ladies?"

Jojo scowled,"Leave us alone. Or you'll regret it. And that's a promise."

"Oh, what are you going to do? Talk us to death?" He noticed Jojo's twitching ears,"Hey, looks like we got a monster. Let's see if the other two are human. And dispose of the monster, she's no use."

Jojo growled, causing the advancing humans to pause, still wary of her. Her eyes flashed a harsh purple.

"Back off. This is your final warning."

"Ha! As if we're scared of you."

The humans charged, brandishing pocket knives and bits of pipes. Chara's little hope that they would let them go vanished as they yanked her away from Frisk. She struggled, thrashing about.

     "Frisk! No, stop!"

She froze as she felt a cold blade being pressed against her throat.

"Now, now, pretty. No noise, no struggles. Maybe we'll be nice."

Chara nearly cried as they forced Jojo to her knees. She could hardly believe that Jojo, who always had such a fiery personality, was taken down without a fight. The one Chara suspected to be the leader paced inside the small circle that had been formed.

"Now, which one do we hurt first?" He walked passed Jojo then Chara, stopping at Frisk,"No, no, ah, you. I recognize you," He sneered,"recognize me? Give me her."

Frisk was thrown into the ring, and shaking violently, she fell onto the ground. Chara felt rage burn through her, and she actually felt her eyes flash black. Jojo caught her eye, and an entire conversation seemed to pass silently between them. Chara nodded, narrowing her eyes.

The leader twirled his knife in his fingers. He kicked Frisk,"Get up!"

She stayed on the ground, crying. He yanked her up by her arm, forcing her to stand. She screeched in pain as he pressed his knife into her left palm. Her scream was silenced by another knife being brought to her throat. Jojo held up three fingers. Three, two, one.

Chara reared back, smashing the back of her head on her captors nose. She winced at she felt it shatter and he dropped to the ground. She grabbed his knife and charged at the leader who was still holding Frisk. She screamed at someone pulled her back by her arm, and she lashed out with the knife. Her eyes widened as she connected with flesh and left a large gash on the guys shoulder. He pushed her to the ground and ran off.

Jojo was unharmed. She was using both blue and regular attacks, completely confusing the humans at they dodged one thing but got hit by another. Chara spotted Frisk still being held by that guy. Cold fury lit inside her as she tackled him, pressing the knife against him. He tried to fight back, but his hatred was nothing compared to the raw anger Chara felt because they had tried to hurt Frisk.

"Stop! Your leader is at my mercy, and the next thing you do will determine his fate! So, choose wisely. Either drop your weapons and leave, or have your leader die to the hands of a girl."

The group growled and glared at her, but they dropped their knives. Jojo kicked them all into the shadows, anger clear in her cold gaze. She looked down at the human below her.

"You call monsters such." She hissed,"But in reality, you are far beneath them. Humans think that they're so great, but they're all filth. Humans are the real monsters here. Now, remember this. Remember me. Because I will never forget you, and if I ever see you again, I will not hesitate to kill you. Now, run. Run until you think you're far enough away. Then realize that you can never get far enough away. You will never be rid of me. I am your fear of shadows, because I am the shadows. I am the irrational fear of new places, because you never know where I will be. You have done what few ever dared to do, and I will never have gotten enough revenge."

He scrambled out from under her and away, chasing after his group. Jojo pulled a first aid kit out of her purse and began bandaging Frisk up. They began walking the last distance to the apartment complex, all panting.

     She hurried up to Jojo.

"Hey, sorry for being mean to you the past few weeks. I hope we can be friends."

     "Of course!"

Chara smiled and returned to Frisk, wrapping her arm around her waist. Frisk shivered, and Chara squeezed slightly, prepared for whatever would happen to them.

Woah super long chapter exactly 2600 words not counting the a/n. Oh and the movie they watched, epic movie. Doesn't matter if you're from the States or not, I recommend you watch the first and second one. Also, if you didn't remember, Alexia, Malayia and Justin were the people from chapter three I think that ran their car down the mountainside. Okay okay, all silliness aside, the real a/n.

As you may know, I'm leaving for a vacation tomorrow. That in mind, I will most likely be wifi-less and overall far too busy to really write any. So this chapter would have normally been two different chapters, but I made one really long one to make up for my coming absence. I hope you enjoyed the chapter, and hopefully see you soon!

Question- What do you think is wrong with Frisk?

Also, chapter fourteen already?! Geez, this has more chapters than I have years!
