-Chapter Five-

Frisk glanced at her new...friends? She didn't know what to call them. She sped up to Chara, who was in the front.

     "We have to tell them."

"I know. Just, how?'Hey guys. Um, I know that I offered my house for you to sleep, but it's actually not ours. It belongs to our mother, who isn't human. We live with two skeletons, two goat-people and a genocidal buttercup. Still wanna stay?'"

Frisk pushed Chara,"Hey! We can't say that. Still, you invited them, you can explain."

     "Ha! Love you too Frisk."

Chara dropped back and began talking to them. Frisk couldn't hear what she was saying, so she slowed down.

"Um, you should know who we are. Who we really are."she added,"I'm Chara Dreemurr and that's Frisk Dreemurr, who um well, that doesn't really matter, I suppose. We live with Toriel and Asgore Dreemurr. Asgore is, well he's, um, he's, uh, he's the, um, kingofmonsterkindsoheisnotahumanneitherareourparentssoyeahwelivewithmonsters."

The couple stopped, trying to comprehend what Chara had just said.  Justin looked up, the spark of realization lighting in his eyes.

"I knew I heard the name Frisk somewhere! You're the ambassador! Gee, it's an honor. We think that it'd be really cool to stay with monsters."

Chara blushed and Frisk smiled, she wasn't expecting that enthusiastic of a response. Alexia shifted the baby in her arms and they continued through the woods.

                                              ---

     "So, could they stay?"

Frisk had been telling Toriel what had happened. She looked at the new humans curiously.

     "Oh yes! A new audience!"

     Chara winced, Mettaton was here.

     "Come on in!" Toriel said.

There was a sharp intake of breath as they stepped into the monster's house. Everyone was there. Alphys and Undyne had brought an anime, and the two skeleton brothers were watching with them. Well, Sans was mostly covering Papyrus' eyes.

Undyne was the first to notice the newcomers, and she paused the show, causing everyone to look where she was looking. Right at the humans. For a split second, silence pierced the house. The silence was broken by a furious scream from upstairs. Flowey.

Alexia looked alarmed,"What was that?"

Frisk smiled, heading upstairs,"That was Flowey."

He was sitting on Toriel's computer, playing Slime Rancher.

"The slime ate all my chickens! Aaaaaarggg! What do you want Frisk?"

"We have guests. You need to come downstairs."

"Hmmmm. Okay. Catch!" He lunged forward and tipped his pot off the stool. Frisk lunged to catch him, nearly falling. Holding him high above her head, which he hated, she carried him downstairs.

The new humans had begun a conversation with the monsters, asking about how life was underground. Chara was talking, rather angrily, it seemed, to Alphys, waving around a notebook. Frisk narrowed her eyes, set down Flowey, and walked over, joining them. Alphys was blushing and looking extremely flustered as Chara hissed at her. Seeing Frisk, she shoved the notebook in her hands.

"Look at this! She saw us, that afternoon in the tree!"

Frisk flipped through the notebook, feeling heat rise to her face as she read the title, Twin Souls, One Feeling. She felt unusual anger flare up within her. The whole book was a fanfic!   //#fanficseption//

     She gritted her teeth,"Say nothing."

Alphys emitted a frightened squeak and scampered off. Frisk stared at where Alphys had been standing, thoughts swirling furiously in her head. Suddenly, Chara began to laugh. She looked up at Frisk, eyes sparkling and the ever-present blush a shade darker.

"Sorry, but it's kinda funny, ya know? I mean, when she saw us she could have told everyone, but she just wrote about it! Tells you who Alphys really is, I guess."

Frisk smiled, but the smile was only a mask. Anger once again dominated all other emotions.

"How could she? Our lives are not toys."

Chara's bright, happy gaze clouded,"I guess you should both learn."

With that, she turned and joined the group of humans and monsters. Frisk stood, speechless. What had just happened? Chara's words rang in her head. Had she just quoted someone? Frisk could've sworn she had heard that before, and was suddenly confronted by a memory. A yellow hall, flashes of blue. Silent tears streamed down her face and she sank down to her knees.

Concerned faces swam before her, but one was missing. The one person she needed most. Stumbling up the stairs, she pushed open her door. Falling onto the bed, she wrapped up in the large blanket and refused to answer anyone's questions. Eventually Toriel shuffled everyone out, claiming that Frisk was sick. The last thing she saw before the world faded away was a flash of green and yellow in the hallway.

                                                   ---

Chara sat at the table, rubbing her knee softly. Toriel, of course, had washed and bandaged up the cut, but various shades of purple were emerging from the wrappings. Asgore cleared his throat.

"Howdy, my friends, new and old. Chara, you may be wondering why everyone is here today. Well, Alphys and Undyne are leaving for some convention over Christmas, so we decided to have the Christmas dinner tonight instead. To our guests, do not think you are intruding our lives. Every meeting was meant to happen, and we open our home to you, for however long. Hopefully Frisk feels better soon, because Toriel has prepared quite the feast."

They began eating. Chara picked at her ham, not feeling hungry. She was beginning to regret what she had said to Frisk, however true it was.    She tried to think of something else, so she cast her eyes around, landing on Flowey. Flowey. One of the few things that she could endlessly think about. She knew how impossible it would be to get Asriel back. But, as she watched Flowey's annoyed glare soften the tiniest bit when he looked at Maylaia, she could sense his nature.

Maybe, if she concentrated hard enough, the potted flower on the chair would be replaced by a smaller version of Asgore and Toriel. She tried to imagine how he'd look at age sixteen. He probably would have horns. His fur might have gotten new markings on it. She changed her vision of her brother from a small little kid to a nearly full grown Prince.

A pang of sorrow gripped her soul as the vision dissolved and Flowey was still there. It seemed so terrible that her brother, her kind, sweet, eleven year old Azzi was trapped inside a flower. Perhaps that was why her soul had persisted for so long. She was too determined to let her brother go without a fight.

So, I wrote this while my wifi was down. Please let it come back soon. ;-;  um, hope you enjoyed. Major plot twist in the next chapter. Just thought I'd warn ya🤗
