-Chapter Eight-

Chara felt every cell in her body explode. The pain was unbearable. Her chest was the worst, like someone hacking out her heart with a blunt spear, then sewing it back in with a tree branch and barb wire.  (?) Then the pain changed.

Pressure. Like someone began stacking boulders on her chest, constricting her breath. Her vision was tinged with darkness when suddenly, there was a sharp pulling, and all pain disappeared.

She tried to push herself off the ground, but failed and fell, panting, onto the floor. She looked at Frisk, who was out cold, paler than she'd ever been before. For the first time, she cast her eyes upward.

Four half-hearts shimmered in the glass containers. Both Flowey and the doctor wore identical expressions of shock and wonder.

     "I-it worked? I didn't think..."

Chara caught her breath and pulled herself up, sitting on the desk. Dr. Harris handed her a coke.

"Drink it all, the sugar will help. Oh, reach into that drawer and get the smelling salts for your friend."

She rummaged through the drawer with one hand, holding the coke with the other. The drink had jolted her awake, pushing feeling into her limbs. She pulled out a round container of salts.

Chara held them under Frisk's nose. She didn't stir. Chara began to panic, would she never wake up? Frisk shook slightly and her eyelids fluttered. She moaned, fully opening her eyes.

"Holy fuck. That hurt."

"Frisk!"

"Heh heh. Sorry. Don't tell mom?"

Chara giggled and lifted her up, handing her a coke. She accepted it and popped the lid, gazing at the souls.

"Well, better get on with it, I suppose. A-are you ready Flowey?"

"I g-guess."

Dr. Harris attached the wires to two of the half souls. As the souls merged, Chara noticed that her and Frisk's souls were slightly different shades of red. Frisk's was a lighter, brighter red, and her half pulsed rhythmically. Chara's was a bit darker, and it shook irregularly. The new soul certainly was unstable.

Chara carefully dug Flowey out of his pot and set him on the floor. Frisk dug some clothes out her bag, one of Chara's sweaters and a pair of jeans, hopefully they would fit Asriel. They weren't sure what age he would end up. The wires were attached to Flowey's stem and face.

Instantly a red glow filled the room. Flowey gasped, quivering with anticipation. His form blurred, enveloped in a white glow. Chara squinted her eyes.

The red light grew unbearably bright, then it was gone. Chara fell a pinch in her soul, and Frisk felt the same. There was a bang and the white light spread across the room then dissipated. She felt a warmth fill her body as the light crossed her legs. She looked at the ground.

Asriel laid where Flowey was a moment before.

Chara choked, tears spilling down her face. Frisk let out a sob and dropped to her knees. Chara flung the flower pot and it shattered. She collapsed around him, pulling him up.

     "ASRIEL!"

     He groaned and blinked slowly.

     "Cha-ra? What ha-happened?"

"Oh Azzi! I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to get you killed! It's all my fault!"

He looked around blearily, noticing Frisk. She handed him the clothes, silent tears of relief streaming down her face, and he fumbled with them, struggling to put them on. Chara gently tugged the sweater over his head. She pulled him into a hug.

"I've missed you so much."

Those five words seemed to trigger something in Asriel. He began to sob, clutching Chara's shirt. They sat like that for a while, then Asriel pulled back, a smile crossing his tear-stained face. He stood up, wobbling slightly, and embraced Frisk.

"Thank you so much."

Frisk staggered and nearly fell, her face was very pale. The smile faded from Asriel's face. He brought up his soul, a mismatched red heart with a smaller white heart inside it. He frowned.

"This might not end well. We shoul-"

Frisk swayed,"Umm, maybe try to catch me Chara? Please?"

Then she fainted. Chara lunged forward and caught her, eyes widening in panic.

"Frisk!"

---

Chara stroked Frisk's hair. She was sleeping in the hotel bed, breathing steadily. Asriel examined her half soul floating above her. Chara studied him, noticing the changes from last time she had seen him.

He had grown a lot taller, he was now taller than both Chara and Frisk. He had horns, about six inches long. He also had black markings under his eyes, similar to his 'God of Hyperdeath' form, but softer, not as angry. His bright green eyes shone with life and emotion.

Suddenly the hotel door burst open and Jojo ran in, looking excited and tired at the same time. Chara groaned inwardly, this was such a good day, then she came in. Asriel quickly replaced Frisk's soul.

"Why are you here?"she spat,"You're not supposed to come for two more days."

"I know, but I had to change my flight to get here sooner. Toriel told me to- wait, who is he?"

     "It doesn't matte-"

She was interrupted by Asriel, who stood up and waved,"Howdy! I'm Asriel! Pleased to meet you!"

Jojo took a step back, clearly surprised by his enthusiasm,"Um, I'm Jojo. And, uh, same."

"Oh, I know who you are! Remember whe-"Chara punched him in the arm, hopefully he would get the message not to reveal that he was Flowey!"Ow, I mean, Chara has told me about you. You seem...nice?"

"Really? Chara called me nice? Wow. Didn't expect that to happen. Hmm, I swear I've heard the name Asriel somewhere. Let me think."

Asriel and Chara shared a panicked look. One thought passed between them, should we tell her? Chara shook her head slightly, indicating that they should just let her figure it out.

"I remember! Asriel was the name of the King and Queen's child! Are you named after him? Wait, you look exactly like them... But you can't be! Y-you died!"

"And so did I,"Chara added blandly,"but I'm right here."

"But...how?"she noticed Frisk's slightly green face,"No, you didn't... Bring up your souls! Both of you!"

They reluctantly brought up their souls, the same sheepish mask on their faces. Jojo gasped and ran to Chara.

"What have you done? Toriel is going to kill you! That's why Frisk is sick! Come on, we're going to the airport. Now."

She lifted Frisk up with surprising ease and stormed out the room. Char grabbed their suitcases, thankfully they hadn't unpacked yet. They followed Jojo, nearly having to run. They caught up in the elevator.

"Don't we need plane tickets or something?"

Jojo's eyes lit up,"We already fixed that! Well, we'll have to get one more, but I forgot tell you why I was here today! Toriel had twins!"

WhaaaaaaAaAaaAaAaaAAaaaaat? Twins? Bet you didn't see that one coming! Woo! Azzi's back! Woo! Again, Jojo belongs to FluffyJojo! Follow her!
