"SANS? WAKE UP, SANS!"

Papyrus' voice came through the door of the dark room.

"WAKE UP! WE'LL BE LATE TO MEET THE HUMAN!"

Papyrus knocked on the door but no response came back. Papyrus was about to speak once more until he heard Sans' voice behind him down the stairs.

*comin, paps?

Papyrus pouted before running down the stairs and reaching his side.

"DON'T DO THAT AGAIN, BROTHER. HOW LONG WERE YOU STAYING THERE?"

Sans shrugged as they left their house and walked through the snow.

*not that long.

"WELL, NEXT TIME, YOU NEED TO TELL ME BROTHER! WE COULD'VE BEEN LATE TO MEET THE HUMAN! THE GREAT PAPYRUS CANNOT MISS A MEETING WITH THE HUMAN!"

Papyrus smiled as he marched beside Sans who chuckled, but his smile was fake and Papyrus noticed this. But he didn't speak until later on, thinking it was because Sans was lazy and just wanted to go back to sleep. He knew something was off with Sans.

"SANS, WAIT."

Papyrus stopped, causing Sans to stop too and look worriedly to his brother.

*hmm? what is it, paps? i thought you said you didn't want to be late to meet the human?

Sans said as Papyrus looked straight into Sans' eyes, causing him to tilt his head in confusion.

"SANS, I KNOW SOMETHING IS WRONG. WHAT IS IT? YOU HAVEN'T MADE A SINGLE BAD PUN SINCE YOU WOKE UP."

Papyrus frowned worriedly, making Sans look away as he lowered his head.

*.....

"SANS, PLEASE TELL ME WHAT IS WRONG. MEETING THE HUMAN CAN WAIT, I AM WORRIED FOR YOU, BROTHER. IT IS NOT LIKE YOU TO NOT TELL A BAD PUN."

Papyrus said. Sans smiled a bit, his brother knew him so well, and that was dangerous. Sans thought. He didn't want to lie to Papyrus but knew he couldn't tell him anything he knew, it wouldn't be right. He wouldn't be able to process what he would say. Sans just let out a sigh before he smiled more and looked up to his brother.

*it's.....it's just that.....i didn't get a chance to have some of your spaghetti before we left.

Sans said as Papyrus flinched then smiled brightly, puffing his chest out.

"WELL! THAT CAN BE SOLVED EASILY, BROTHER! I, THE GREAT PAPYRUS, WILL JUST MAKE YOU SOME OF MY WORLD FAMOUS SPAGHETTI WHEN WE GET BACK HOME!"

Papyrus said as they continued walking. Sans let out a silent sigh as he followed Papyrus, walking beside him.

*too bad..... we won't be getting home today or any time, paps.....

Sans remembered everything. This had all happened too many times to count now. He saw his brother talking with Frisk. Sans didn't have any expression on his face, he knew he couldn't do anything, it wouldn't matter anyway. Then, a moment later, Papyrus turned to dust. Still, nothing. Sans seemed as if he didn't care, and he didn't honestly. It was like a daily routine, but instead, it was EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Chara would RESET. It was incredibly sad and enraging the first few times, but after going through it so many times with it ending up as Chara killing him then RESETting, he knew he couldn't alter anything no matter how hard he tried. He just gave up. Knowing Chara would never choose a Pacifist Run now, he knew that there was nothing to be done other than just give in and let things happen on its own.

Later....

Sans stood in Judgement Hall, his eyes low as he just gazed blankly at the golden floor. He knew Chara was making their way here, but he didn't bother do anything. Soon, Chara's silhouette could be seen before him. Sans just lifted his gaze the slightest with nothing on his face except for a dead, empty, and hollow expression. Chara smiled before the battle started. Sans did what he always did, dodged the first twenty some attacks, attack them, and then, as they neared the end of the battle, Sans just threw the towel. Sans stopped his attack and as Chara waited for him to attack, he just stood there. Chara chuckled.

"Aww, what's the matter? Trying to pull the 'do nothing' thing again?"

Chara mocked but Sans just shrugged.

*it doesn't matter anymore.

Chara tilted and gave a confused look.

"What do you mean 'it doesn't matter anymore'?"

Sans didn't respond for a bit.

*look, just get on with it and kill me. i'm already tired of your games.

Sans said with a dead look on his face, he wasn't the happy, punny, ketchup-loving skeleton anymore. Chara smirked before giggling.

"Alright, I will then!"

Chara said before striking Sans, landing a direct blow to him.

Sans didn't even bother saying his last words as he just let it happen and soon, disappeared to dust. Sans felt his spirit rise, seeing Chara grin up at him as his sweater, shorts, and slippers lay on the now blood stained, golden tiled floor. Sans just turned away, waiting for Chara to RESET the timeline again. But then, a bright light approached him, it was white colors but hints of blue, gold and orange made Sans squint to try and see what was there or if anything was in the light. Sans hovered closer to the light but then, the light wrapped itself around him, causing him to panic. Sans then felt something grip his arms and he couldn't move. Sans clenched his hands into fists but suddenly, he recognized a voice he longed for.

"DO NOT GIVE UP, DEAR BROTHER!"

Sans recognized Papyrus' voice, as bright as ever as he looked to his left and saw Papyrus hugging him, his arms wrapped around his body.

"We believe in you, Sans."

Sans turned to his right and saw Toriel, tears formed in his eyes as more voices came.

"YEAH! IF YOU GIVE UP NOW, SANS, I'M GOING TO HAVE TO BEAT YOU UP!"

Undyne smiled to Sans. And beside her stood Alphys.

"W-we're always r-right b-behind you, Sans!"

Then came Mettaton and Asgore.

"Keep going, Sans!"

"Stay true to yourself, Sans. Do not lose hope."

Sans cried and sobbed as he put his face to his sleeve, smiling happily. Then, every other monster appeared. Napstablook, Muffet, Grillby, Monster Kid, Froggit, Mad Dummy, Doggo, Lesser Dog, Greater Dog, Temmie, the five Amalgamates, and even the small white dog. Sans gazed across them all, smiling brightly as he felt the others around him remove their arms from him. Then, he saw two figures he thought he'd never see. Sans saw Asriel, he waved awkwardly at Sans with a nice smile. The second figure was one Sans wouldn't have thought would've showed ever again, it was Frisk. Sans clenched his teeth and his left eye flashed light blue and yellow as his right eye disappeared. Frisk flinched but as Sans summoned a Gaster Blaster and as he was about to fire when his eyes widened, a white hand with a hole in the center appeared in front of Frisk. Sans took a step back, another hand came and so did a sleek black figure, his white head bowed down to Frisk before turning to Sans. Sans flinched, his eye returning to normal and his Gaster Blaster disappearing.

*g-gaster?!!

Sans gasped as sweat formed on his head. He had never expected to ever see Gaster again in his entire life. The last time he had seen Gaster, was before the first RESET as a dream. Gaster frowned.

Gaster said as Sans narrowed his eyes at Gaster.

Sans understood Gaster but no one else could, Papyrus asked what Gaster was saying but Sans said that he was saying for him to keep going and to not give up. Sans smiled up to Gaster, he nodded before his white eyes glimmered with anticipation. They were fading, Chara was RESETting. Frisk smiled to Sans before they turned into their DETERMINATION SOUL and Sans held it within his hands. Sans lifted his head up to his disappearing family and friends. He smiled even more as they smiled back. Sans then absorbed the DETERMINATION SOUL.

Sans returned to the real world, he stood in Judgement Hall where he always stood. He smirked as Chara appeared at the end of the hall.

"Let me make it easy for you, Sans."

Chara chuckled as she healed up her knife, her glowing red eyes beaming.

*heh, you don't have to, chara, because, this fight is already too easy.

Sans smirked more, his left light blue and yellow flashing eye glowed brightly. Chara flinched as she clenched her teeth. She smiled before the battle started and the two engaged in an intense fight. Neither side seemed to waver, neither side seemed to want to lose. Sans panted, Chara huffed. The two were exhausted, using their energies on the battle, both held huge amounts of DETERMINATION. But one was greater and that was about to be proven here and now. Sans clenched his teeth as he summoned more bones and Gaster Blasters and sent them after Chara. Chara struggled to dodge them, she slipped at the last attack and was struck with four bones. Chara's HP dropped to 0. Chara only laughed.

"Ha! You spent this much effort into this one battle when I can just RESET and battle you again and again until you tire out! Well, see you—!"

Chara flinched, her RESET powers had disappeared. Sans smiled as he staggered, exhausted. He huffed.

*it worked... you lose, forever, chara..... finally, it can be over.

Sans let out a sigh of relief as Chara screamed out.

"No!!! This can't be! Damn you, Sans!"

Chara tried to reach forward at Sans, she managed to land one last hit on him, slashing him, drawing blood. She grinned before she disappeared, he coughed up blood. Sans knew it was over, finally, he and the others could finally be free. Suddenly, everything started glitching out. Sans looked around, fear struck him as Judgement Hall started to disappear. Sans didn't have enough magic to teleport, so, he pelted out of the room and raced wherever his feet would take him. He basically ran for his life, fleeing from the glitches that chased him like a pack of blood hounds. He staggered here and there while holding a hand to his wound.

*what the hell?!

Sans looked back to see the glitches catching up to him, not seeing what was ahead of him, he tripped and fell over. He hit the ground with a thud and quickly flipped over, he couldn't get back up. Sans was so worried about what was coming at him, he didn't see that some of the glitches came at him from the right. Sans flinched and tried to avoid it but he was too late. The glitches corrupted a portion of his right face but mostly his entire right eye socket. Sans let out a screech of agony. Once the glitches left his face, he slammed his hands to the right side of his face. He then lifted his head up then shut his left eye, fear overwhelming him as he prepared to be engulfed by the glitches. Sans knew he was either going to die from the glitches or his wound. But then, everything stopped, or, that's what Sans thought. Sans opened his left eye to see not the glitching out Judgement Hall, but just black everywhere. Nothing else lingered here. Sans didn't feel any pain from his wounds, he thought he was dead until, he felt the same presence from earlier. Sans turned to see Frisk. They stood there with a worried face, Sans suddenly had flashbacks of Chara and prepared for a battle until, Frisk leaped forward and hugged Sans tightly. Sans flinched, this was not the murderous kid he knew, it was the real Frisk. Sans hesitated before hugging Frisk back, but that was when he noticed that something was off. Sans' left eye widened as he looked back at himself, still in the hug, and saw that his blue sweater had turned pure white. His slippers were no longer pink but also white, but the slash from Chara remained and some blood stains remained on his slippers. Sans flinched as Frisk broke the hug. Sans gazed at himself, then, he lifted his head to see Frisk take a step back, the look of fear on their face. Sans frowned, confused. Then as Frisk pointed to him, he put his hand up and realized that most of his right eye and head was melting. Sans flinched, his white pupils becoming dots in his sockets, he quickly thought of something before he snapped his fingers. The glitches like before that had caused his eye to become this way appeared and covered his eye and the rest of his melting face. Sans smiled as Frisk seemed hesitant but hugged Sans once more, this time, not letting go. Sans wrapped his arms around Frisk, the only thing that remained the same color of him was the red scarf he had from Papyrus. He didn't care if he were stuck here forever, just as long as Chara was gone and so long as he was free from her rain of terror upon him, his family and friends, and the kid. He smiled softly. Then, a distant voice came to his mind, he recognized it but instead, didn't try to make Frisk see him look around for where it came from.

Sans smiled more as soft tears trickled down his half broken face.

Notes: Wow, this one took longer than I thought. Lol. But I had fun with this one! Got lazy at some parts but I liked it! I believe loverofpiggies explained the entire back story to Geno and all, but I figured I wanted to see what I could come up with if I decided to make his past and so on. No, I'm not taking credit for Geno and all but I just wanted to make my own story and see what happened if I came up with the story leading to the point of the current present with Geno and Frisk.
