I have three separate headcanon universes, each with a different position for Gaster.
~My main one, Dadster. Because babybones are adorable.
~Gaster being Sans and Papyrus' brother. This mostly goes on in Yanderetale.
~He's not related to them at all (the backstory of the skelebros' parents in this one is totally stolen from TheReturnOfTurtle)

So in that last one, I guess it could work.
