Five Wishes
Dream was, for lack of better term, absolutely exhausted. He, Ink, and Blue have been fighting way too much, which meant he got little sleep or rest, which in turn meant he was less wanting to do anything BUT sleep. However, as the living embodiment of positivity feelings and emotions, the skeleton made it clear he was ok. No matter the growing dark circles under his eyes, his weakening state, him being more agitated instead of tolerant. All around, bad for everyone.
His girlfriend, though, was becoming fairly worried about him. She knew his work was important, but his health was moreso. He needed to take care of himself, even if she forced him.
So, first thing was first, she needed to find and convince his two friends to help her that they needed to convince Dream that his health was important. That meant following him when he left, even though he expressly told her it was a dangerous and terrible idea, and made her promise each time to stay at their home until he got back whenever he was called out.
Yeah, she felt terrible for doing this, but it needed to be done. She wasn't going to let him waste away. Dream deserved so much better. While he was busy doing things, she snuck off, finding and greeting his companions.
She filled them in on the situation, though she was certain they'd seen it too. She also explained how it was starting to bother her that he just didn't care enough about himself. She wished for him to be happy.
So, with them agreeing, quite easily mind you, they all started to concoct a plan for him to go back to his old self. While, yes, she loved him as he was, the part of him that existed at that moment was far too stressed, too scared, too angry to be the happy ray of sunshine she had grown to love so much. With the plan made and the two promising her that they will carry out their parts, she sneakily made her way back home, secure in the fact that he will be able to enjoy this.
The afternoon went as normal as she'd been accustomed to. Him coming back late, her comforting him, then them both going to an early bed. However, she stayed awake, but not just to watch him sleep. She made her way out of the bed, then the bedroom, while also making sure he didn't wake up. Dream was a heavy sleeper, so she wasn't even certain why she snuck around.
She worked for a few hours, took a break, then finished in another couple. Once it was in place for him to find in the morning, she returned to laying in bed with him, satisfied enough to fall asleep herself.
Come sunrise, he was already awake and trying to figure out what happened. The house was the same, yet something was off, staring at him dead in the eye. He knew what it was, he knew exactly who did it, but outright claiming it wouldn't do anything. He needed proof. And, unfortunately, Dream had no way of getting such things.
Oh well. He'd do something about it later. Right now was time for him to work and help people. And the first person who needed helping was right in his house. She was still asleep, having gotten barely any the night before, though he didn't know that. He lay in bed with her, staring at her with a soft smile, and simply relishing in the little bit of relaxation he got. She'd possibly never know, but he just adored how beautiful and serene her entire being was. His hand gripped hers for a moment, a rare, opportune moment, that was immediately cut off by Ink sending a message to him. One that basically said they were needed ASAP in an au.
Taken from his happiness, Dream sighed, gave a kiss to her head, then headed off.
Little did he know that she was awake the whole time. And couldn't help but blush a little to herself. She just expected him to be home sooner, but no, he laid in bed with her and did nothing but hold her hand and kiss her head. Rather odd, but she wouldn't be mad, as the plan was already out into action. Again, she followed, keeping her distance away from the three Star Sanses in front of her.
Around them was a gorgeous field of flowers, trees, short grass with an alluring smell, cloudless sky and a bright sun in the middle. Plus, right at the peak of the field stood a large oak tree, covered in lush green leaves, bits of artistry stars (courtesy of Ink), and with Blue's help, lots and lots of memorabilia to remind Dream of all the people that cared for him, that stood by his side, and that wanted the best for him.
Ink, having noticed her, quickly teleported her to the side of the tree that none of them could see. He then convinced Dream to go to it, saying there was something even better on it. Not the one to turn down something so sweet, he obliged and went to the tree, smiling as he did. There was so much on the tree to remember. Pieces of art, things they got from winning games, but none of it compared to what he saw almost glinting in the light from the other side.
Curious, he peeked over, seeing her. At first, he was visibly upset, wondering why she was here and not at home, as this could be dangerous and cause her to be hurt. She was prepared for this and put a finger to his lips before he even opened them. That told him a little bit of what happened. He calmed down, then sat down on the grass to think to himself. It was very confusing. She joined him while holding the object from before for him to see.
His calm demeanor changed to one of sadness. Not a word was spoken between them, but she knew what he was feeling. Dream didn't cry, though. He just turned to look at her. His overactive mind string together words so he could speak, and no amount of her persuading otherwise would work.
"I understand."
"I. . .completely understand what you were trying to do now. I'm. . . .so sorry I haven't been as good to you lately. I will try to do better, I promise."
She gave him a smile of reassurance. Then nuzzled him in a hug, glancing down at what he now held in his hands. It may be worn down, but he knew it was unmistakable, since he never really knew his brother to keep things like this.
"Thank you for. . .finding his crown, too. It means a lot."
That night, in the same field, they made wishes underneath that same tree. Promises to keep.
A wish for truth.
A wish for peace.
A wish for love.
A wish for joy.
And a wish for happiness.

(Wooo! Honestly, I wanted this to go so many different ways, so I decided to do them all! Or, at least two. Also, a new format only for this story, since it fit. Now sure if it's been done before but meh. I don't care. I'm tired. It's almost 12. And I am going to bed.)
