Nightmare [UF!Papyrisk]
Frisk dodged several red bones flying at them, then jumped over blue bones and ducked under white ones. Evening training with Papyrus was one hell of a workout, alright. What frustrated the skeleton the most was that the human child always refused to fight back even a little bit, scared that they would "hurt him". He always told them that was the point of training, to hurt the opponent in a friendly competition way so they get stronger, but Frisk just wasn't a fighter. He seemed to notice them getting tired, so he snapped his fingers, and all of the bones that had previously been zooming around in the air and snow disappeared.
Frisk fell on their hands and knees, panting but with a determined look on their face. Papyrus was proud. "NICE WORK, HUMAN! YOU GET FASTER EVERY DAY. I JUST WISH YOU WOULD BUILD UP YOUR ATTACK..." Frisk got up, brushed the snow off their clothes, and walked over to him. "I dunno, Papy. I guess I'm just a Pacifrisk," they said with a wink. Papyrus facepalmed and laughed a little. "HUMAN, NO!! BUT, I HAVE TO ADMIT, THAT ONE WAS CLEVER." Frisk smiled brightly, then yawned. "I think it's time to hit the sack," they said drowsily. Knowing they were tired from intense training, Papyrus picked them up and carried them back to the house, and set them to bed before checking on his brother and going to sleep himself.
He was awoken at about midnight by someone shaking his shoulder. "Mm...?" he mumbled, tired and quiet. "Who is it...?" He opened his eyesockets to see Frisk standing in front of his bed, holding their cream-coloured stuffed rabbit and don in their usual red polka-dot pajamas. He sat up. "Oh, human... what are you doing up so late...?" he said, yawning. Frisk rubbed their eyes. "I had a nightmare, and I didn't want to wake Flowey... he hasn't slept well lately..." they said quietly. They shared a room with their friend, a sentient, talking flower named Flowey.
Papyrus patted a place next to him on the bed. "Do you want to talk about it...?" he asked, talking quietly as not to wake Sans a few rooms over. Frisk nodded and sat down next to him, and Papyrus put his hands in his lap to show that he was listening. "W-well... you were there... and Flowey, and Sans and Undyne and Alphys... you and Sans were arguing with Undyne and Alphys, and Undyne looked really mad... so she stepped forward and just punched you in the jaw, and she knocked you right over..."
They started sniffling a bit. "Sans ran over to help, and I wanted to see if you were okay but Flowey wouldn't let me go near Undyne and Alphys turned to me with a knife and... and you got up with Sans' help, and you started yelling at her to get the knife away from me before you made her regret it... you were cursing a lot, and Sans was too, and then I woke up..." Papyrus sighed and wrapped his arms around the small human. "First of all, I am never, ever letting Undyne or Alphys lay a finger on any of us. You three are my family, and I love you all to the end of the world. Even the flower."
"Second of all, I would never fight with someone like that in front of you, especially if it made you so scared. I promise you, human, I would never make you have to see something like that." Frisk sniffled. "T...that makes me feel better... thanks, Papy..." they said before hugging him tightly, clutching their stuffed bunny in one arm. He smiled and hugged them back. "It's no problem, Frisk."
They looked up at him, a small red blush crossing their face. "H-hey... I'm a bit scared to go back to my room... c-can I sleep in here with you tonight, Pap...?" Papyrus smiled sweetly. "Of course you can. Do you want me to read you a story?" The human smiled. "That would be nice... just to take my mind off my dream..."
Papyrus let Frisk pick the book — they picked a story about a little girl who met cute creatures from space who took her under their wing after her mother died. Frisk had always thought that they could relate to that particular story on a personal level — they were an orphan, their parents were probably dead, they were young and alone, and three odd but kindhearted monsters had taken them in as their own.
After the skeleton finished the story, Frisk was almost asleep, leaning on his shoulder, since the two were leaning their heads on the back of the bed. Papyrus smiled, put the book on the desk, turned off his eye-light, adjusted Frisk's sleeping position so they had their head on the pillow, and rolled over to go to sleep. What surprised him was when he heard Frisk shift and wrap their arms around him. He rolled over again to face them. They looked very tired, but still happy.
"Love you, Papyrus.." they said sleepily. He was about to respond when Frisk moved up to kiss him on the teeth. The skeleton flushed red. "Mm..??" So that's what they meant. They pulled away after a few seconds, still hugging his waist, and lied down like nothing had happened. Papyrus smiled, pulled the covers up, hugged them back, and kissed Frisk's forehead, making them smile and blush. "I love you too, human. Sweet dreams." They both fell asleep, feeling safe in each other's arms.
