Gaster X Surface!Reader
I shot up in bed, panting, a cold sweat making me shiver. The dream- or rather, nightmare- had felt all too real for me. There seemed to be a strange creature, with a stark white face and hands. The hands had perfect circles on the palms, and there were large cracks coming from what looked like his eyes. He had smiled and waved at me, but it felt threatening, like he was on cloud-nine because he was about to kill me.
After taking some calming breaths, I called up my best friend, Sans. I could always talk to Sans if I needed help. "Hey Sans?"
"It's two in the morning kid. Waddaya want?" He huffed.
"I had a weird dream about a skeleton-guy with cracks in his head. I thought maybe you-"
"HAHAHAHA!" He burst out in laughter, cutting me off.
"What's so funny? It was really scary!" I growled slightly. Sometimes Sans didn't understand the gravity of situations.
My comment sent him into a new fit of laughter. "S-Sorry! It's just- ya know what? How about you just talk to him yourself." There was static on the other end as Sans handed the phone to someone else.
"Hello? Who is this?" A very formal voice reached my ears. Clearly older than Sans. The voice was rich and smooth.
"Uh, hi. This is Y/n, Sans' friend. Who might this be?"
"My name is Dr. Gaster. Sans said I needed to speak with you about a dream you had?"
"Oh. Um, yes. Do you specialize in phycology, then?" I didn't want to tell some random person about my dream if they couldn't help me.
"Actually, I was just- ohhh....." Realization dawned in his voice, but I was still lost. "I think it would be best if we talked in person. How does tomorrow at 2 work for you?"
"Sure. Where should we meet?"
"Just go to the park; I'll find you." And with that, he hung up. Thoroughly confused, I fell asleep, sleeping peacefully once again.
The next morning I got up and showered for a long time, contemplating the strange dream. Finally, it was time to go, and I walked to the nearby park as quickly as I could. I sat waiting for a few minutes, as I arrived a few minutes early in my hurry.
"Excuse me, madam."
My head shot up at the voice. I recognized it as Dr. Gaster. I met his gaze, and gasped sharply, leaning away. He was the strange man from my dream?!
He seemed to notice the fear in my eyes, and grew concerned. "I didn't mean to startle you, my apologies. Is it alright if I sit?"
Too startled to say anything, I just nodded. He sat next to me, and I got a better look at his features. His eyes were like Sans'- deep and full of love. The corners of his mouth turned up in a tense smile. We wore a grey turtleneck under his white lab coat. That was the only difference from the dream- he wore a black coat then, that made his especially intimidating.
"Can you quickly tell me what you saw in the dream?"
Gulping, I spoke. "Uh... Th-There was a skeleton. H-He looked like- like you, but in a black coat. I woke up scared, and called Sans. Then you know the rest." I rubbed my hands together anxiously.
He chucked, surprising me. It was gentle and low. "I'm so sorry. That was indeed me that you saw. I was experimenting with mind-reading devices, and I chose the first contact on Sans' phone to try it out on. After all, the sleeping human mind is especially susceptible. I'm sorry if I startled you. I didn't realize it would affect your conscious mind."
I blinked slowly. "What kind of scientist are you?"
He sat up straighter on the bench, proudly. "I am the Royal Scientist of the king of monsters."
I gasped. I heard that the Royal Scientist was extremely intelligent and didn't like talking to anybody. "How does Sans know someone so famous?" I mainly asked myself, but Gaster answered anyway.
"Has he not told you? That numb skull..." he shook his head, chuckling. "I am Sans' father." That deep voice was hypnotizing. I'd never met someone with a voice that gentle and smooth... I blushed lightly at my thoughts.
"Are you alright?" He waved his hand in front of my face, snapping me out of my trance.
"S-Sorry. It's just- Sans never told me he knew you- or was related to you." It was true, but it wasn't why I zoned out.
"Of course. I apologize deeply for startling you, but the test went stunningly! Now I know how to fix it and make it better!" He beamed, clearly reveling in science. I wasn't super into that stuff, but his excitement riled me up.
"Cool! So, now what?"
"How about we head back to my place and talk a bit more. Sans has told me so much about you." He held out his arm like a gentlemen, and I gently slid my arm into his, blushing. He acted like the best parts of Sans and Papyrus, only more mature. Something about that brought a smile to my face.
Love you, my little stars!
