World Came Crashing Down [17]

No way. This had to be a stupid nightmare. There was just no way that Sans had heard Ajax say what he thought he had said. But evident by the looks on everyone's faces, the dead silence, and the boiling anger that Sans felt within, it was obvious that none of this was just a load of made up crap. Sans was PISSED.

"that... that fucking prick!" Sans snapped angrily, his magic eye flaring up in rage as he clenched his own fists upon his thighs. "who the HELL does he think he is?! i'm gonna... i'm gonna kill him!" He growled furiously, standing up from where he was sitting, but Frisk put her arms around him, wanting to restrain him as she just burst into tears and hugged him close. Sans glanced towards her, his two white pupils returning whilst his face slowly relaxed and he frowned.

"How could he do this...?" Undyne questioned, slowly shaking her head in disbelief as she was still staring at the television, despite the speech being over, and it was just adverts playing now.

"T-That's so cruel of h-h-him to do. W-W-Why would he want to stop humans a-a-and monsters from b-being together? That's h-horrid." Alphys stuttered sadly, earning a nod from everyone else.

"Isn't it clear? It's because he hates us." Flowey pointed out. "Why else would he want to keep humans separated from monsters? It's just so that no one goes and breeds, mixing the two kinds together. That's something he must want to avoid."

Sans exhaled, glumly hugging Frisk back as he went to kiss her on the forehead while she wept. "This can't be happening..." Frisk whimpered into Sans' shoulder as he held her within his arms. "I knew he'd probably do something stupid, but I didn't think he'd go this far."

"isn't it obvious?" Sans spoke, getting her to look at him with big sad watery eyes. "he wanted to separate me from you. he didn't approve of our relationship when he found out about it. and he went and asked questions about it, tryin' to find out the flaws about our past. it's clear that he hated us bein' together from the beginning, because i'm a monster and you're a human..." He sighed.

Go figure that this had to go and happen on his birthday. See, there was nothing ever good about this day. All it was ever filled with was misery, as he continued to stroll on doing meaningless things. Now the only thing that kept him motivated and kept him going was purposely being separated from him, right when he was thinking of how to ask her to marry him. This had to happen. Of course this had to happen.

But he wasn't going to let Ajax get away with it. No way in hell.

"don't worry, frisk. things aren't going to stay like this. i won't let them stay like this." He grumbled as he went to pull up his hood, his pupils disappearing once more, being replaced by that bright, glowing blue eye of his. Frisk stared back at him, wondering what he was up to.

"What are you going to do?" Frisk wondered.

"DON'T GO AND DO SOMETHING DUMB, SANS." Papyrus spoke, earning a nod from Toriel in agreement. Sans exhaled, keeping his fists clenched as he stared back at them.

"sorry guys, but i can't just stand by and allow for this guy to make this damn rule. he clearly did it mostly to get to me. to hurt me. i could see a small smirk on his face god dammit, as if he knew i'd be watching. well, i'm not standing for this shit, and i'm going to fix it in the only way i can." He seethed, his tone dark and threatening as he was obviously unhappy. Before anyone was going to go to try and stop him, Sans began to teleport away in an instant, in a blue flash of light. The last thing he saw in that room was everyone's alarmed faces, looking like they were going to tell him to stop, with Frisk trying to reach out for him to not allow him to go. But he had to do this. He could never forgive himself if he just stood by and watched. Especially when he wanted Frisk to be his future wife, he wasn't going to allow some dickhead to separate him from her.

Being transported from one room to another, Sans found himself exactly where he wanted to be, finding exactly the person he wanted to find. He narrowed his eyes, seeing Ajax with his back turned to him as he was staring out of a window. He cleared his throat, but Ajax didn't turn around. Instead he just smiled knowingly.

"Oh, Sans. Of course. I knew you'd come." Ajax chuckled, only causing Sans to growl from more anger built upon his shoulders. That's when Ajax slowly turned to face him, that same ignorant smirk spread across his lips. "Did you enjoy watching me on TV? I looked pretty good if I say so myself."

"shut the fuck up you sick twisted fuck!" Sans snapped at him, going to grab hold of his soul, highlighting it in a shade of dark blue as he slammed Ajax against a wall. Ajax yelped in shock, feeling momentarily winded, until he began to laugh, but Sans ignored his sounds of amusement. "you better take back that damn thing you said on tv! what the hell were you even thinking?! you can't go and do something like that!

"I believe I can, Sans. It's not like there is exactly anyone that can stop me. And when enough people hate you disgusting freaks just as much as I do, it's pretty easy to get what you want." He grinned smugly. "And what are you going to do about it? Are you going to kill me? Because if you are, then please do go ahead." He said, earning a surprised look from the skeleton whose eye was still flaring furiously with fury. "Then you'll only show everyone the true colours of what it is like to be a monster. People will clearly support you then." He laughed. "Or will people only want you to crawl back in the holes you came from? You should be grateful I didn't try to get you sent back underground. Unless you want me to do that? It wouldn't take that much effort to get a rule like that to follow through."

The skeleton stared back at him, his eye flitting from Ajax's left eye to his right, not staying fixated in one specific place. Was he bluffing? Then again he had already gone pretty far, with pushing the whole rule about monsters not being allowed to have relationships with humans. It's not like it would be entirely impossible to have them put back underground, trapping them once again, for however long. This time it could mean that they'd never escape again, leaving them stuck and stranded in a restricted space for the rest of time.

If he wanted to, he could do it. Right now, Sans had power over this guy's life. In a single attack, he could go and take that away from him, for trying to ruin his. However, he knew Ajax was right. Killing him right now would solve... What? Doing that would only make monsters look worse than they already did, once he'd be found dead. If Sans laid a hand on him and murdered him, it could only mean trouble for everyone else.

Sighing in defeat, Sans took his magic away from Ajax's soul, allowing him to fall over to his hands and knees, that same grin upon his damn face. "Glad you could see it my way." He spoke, standing upright and readjusting his blazer. "Don't look so glum, Sans. At least now, no longer being able to be with Frisk, you can focus on being with someone of your own disgusting kind, rather than trying to mix with ours. Now get the hell out of my office."

Not being able to argue, Sans used his magic to transport him back to Alphys' house. But instead of going back inside straight away, Sans just sat down upon the doorstep, a dark shadow looming over his two eyesockets as he stared down at the ground. Reaching to put his hands in his pockets, his bone-y fingers brushed against a small box within his left pocket. Pulling it out and glancing at it, he opened it once again, that same ring that he had brought for Frisk still sitting inside.

Within a single day it was just like everything had been taken from him. He felt so lost, so hopeless, that he closed the box and almost thought of tossing it, until he hesitated and decided against it, just allowing it to sit within his hands as tears began to spill down his cheekbones. Why did this have to happen? He never asked for this.

"S-Sans?" Alphys' voice spoke from behind him. But he didn't answer, he just remained silent, and before he knew it, she had closed the front door and went to join him on the front step, going to sit next to him. "H-Hey... How did it go...?" She wondered. She sighed when he still didn't answer, and her eyes slowly trailed to the item in his hands. "W-W-What's that? Is that a box?"

Without saying anything, Sans just shrugged his shoulders. Alphys asked if she could see it, and Sans just lazily held it out to her, proceeding to say: "sure, knock yourself out." in a depressed tone. So, with permission, Alphys took the box from Sans' hand, glanced to him one more time, then went to open the box and she gasped, seeing the ring inside.

"I-I-Is this what I t-t-think it is...?" She wondered, and Sans just slowly nodded. "Y-You were... You were going to a-a-ask Frisk to m-marry you?" She asked and he just nodded once more, still not meeting her eyes with his. "S-Sans... I'm... I'm so sorry." She spoke sadly, clearly feeling true and complete sympathy for him. "B-But who knows... Maybe things w-will get better."

"heh. trust me alphys, things are going to stay this fucking terrible for as long as that guy is in power." Sans replied miserably. "and now i can't even be with the one girl i love, the one girl who means everything to me, gives me hope, gives me a reason to live... because of him, i can't even ask her to..." He trailed off, his voice beginning to shake as he put his hand over his eyes and began to sob. Alphys decided to instantly react, going to carefully put the box back in his hoodie pocket, then she put an arm around his shoulders, hugging him close, being there for him as a good friend should.

"We're all here for you, Sans. B-Both for you and Frisk. Somehow... W-W-We'll fix this. And you'll be able to ask her. Y-You'll be able to p-propose to her..." She murmured, pausing before she spoke again. "D-Don't worry. I'll keep t-the ring a s-s-secret, I promise." She said. There was a long, long pause before Sans could even find the strength to answer again.

"thanks..." He quietly answered.

It was like his whole world had just come tumbling down upon him, with no way of stopping it. And he had no idea what to do or how to fix it.

He was hopeless.
