Chapter 4 - Christmas!

Shortly after, Sans and Frisk appeared back within the living room of their house. Papyrus could be heard humming from within the kitchen, as he was most likely preparing himself some spaghetti. After all, there wasn't a whole lot to do on the surface at the current point in time... But even so, he was still finding some ways to occupy himself during the Christmas break. Toriel liked to have Papyrus, and maybe even Sans, at the school from time to time to help the kids. Sans wasn't always there though, because of his laziness.

After they had appeared, Sans was already making his way across the room, to probably go to his room and sleep, like he usually did. Frisk bit her lip in thought.

"Sans!" She called after him. Stopping in his tracks, he turned to face her with his hands in his pockets.

"what's up?"

Still continuing to frown, Frisk walked right up to him and pouted in thought. Sans gave her a look of confusion as a sweat drop slowly slid it's way down the side of his face."what? why are you lookin' at me all funny?"

Frisk crossed her arms. "Well, I wanted to ask you, are you okay? You know, after you being 'sick' and after that night where you..." Frisk trailed off, thinking back to the night when Sans attacked her. She wasn't mad at him for it, but she felt like it was a little more than him just being "sick". He rose his eyebrows.

"o-oh... yeah i'm fine why do you ask?"

"Well, you always like to seem to make sure I'm okay. I just want to return the favor, as we're friends and we're there for each other. It's just sort of been at the back of my mind since that night, and I wanted to make sure you were okay."

"o-oh" Sans managed a small smirk. Raising his hand, he ruffled Frisk's hair. "well thanks a lot kiddo. but i'm fine. there's no need to worry."

Frisk grinned. "Well, then good."

"HUMAN! SANS! HAVE YOU COME BACK?" Suddenly walking out through the archway in the wall to the kitchen, Papyrus stood in a cooking apron. Frisk and Sans were about to reply to him, when none other than Mettaton appeared from the kitchen behind him.

"Darling~! Welcome home!" Mettaton's voice boomed. Frisk managed a small smile.

"U-Uh... Hey Mettaton. How are you?"

"Oh~! I am just fabulous~! I just wanted to drop by to see my sweet Papyrus here, and you two of 'course. With Christmas coming up and all."

"oh? are you not gonna be here on christmas mettaton?" Sans wondered. Mettaton shook his head, placing his hands on his hips. He looked almost heart broken by this fact.

"No, afraid not. I know you darlings will miss me, but I won't be gone for too long. I just have to do some touring to various different places. After all, the people love me."

"Haha, you got that right!" Frisk complimented him, giving him the thumbs up. Sans elbowed her slightly, giving her a small look of disapproval, almost as if to say not to try and boost his ego. But Frisk ignored him. "Be sure to get me an autograph when you get back." Frisk giggled. Mettaton's eyes lit up in happiness.

"Oh yes~! I'll be sure to do that. I know that you'll be longing to see me again."
Mettaton replied. He grinned. "Anyway, I suppose I better take my leave now. It was nice seeing you Paps, Sans and Frisk. I will see you again soon."

"INDEED!" Papyrus agreed. "HAVE FUN WITH YOUR TOURING. YOU SHOULD TELL US ABOUT IT WHEN YOU COME BACK."

"oh whyyyyy?" Sans cringed. The last thing he wanted to hear was Mettaton rambling on about how he was the most fabulous person in some diner in some place like Japan for two straight hours. It's those two hours that would go to waste, when he could have spent that time sleeping, or drinking ketchup at Grillby's. Frisk clapped in delight.

"Yeah! Sounds good to me!" Frisk agreed. Mettaton beamed the widest smile that Sans had ever seen, which just made him cringe even more. Finally, Mettaton seemed like he was going to leave, and gave Papyrus and Frisk a hug goodbye. Sans just gave him a friendly smile and a wave goodbye. It wasn't that he hated Mettaton, but he just didn't get what his little brother saw in the guy. He was so egotistical it was unbelievable.

When Mettaton finally left, Sans let out a small sigh. "anyway if anyone needs me i'll be in my room... sleeping."

"WHY HAVE YOU ALWAYS GOT TO BE SUCH A LAZYBONES, SANS? YOU SHOULD GET OUT MORE AND DO STUFF WITH THE HUMAN, RATHER THAN SPENDING ALL YOUR TIME COOPED UP IN HERE!"

"eh... so you want me to stick around?" Sans questioned.

Papyrus nodded enthusiastically. "YES."

"y'know if you were a dog i'd say that might be paws-ible." Sans chuckled.

Freezing on the spot, Papyrus stood, as his eyebrow started to twitch in frustration. Slowly, he backed out of the room and back into the kitchen, leaving both Frisk and Sans laughing like always. Sans let out a small sigh.

"anyway i'm gonna nap. what about you kid?"

"Me? Oh, I might... Just read in my room or something. I don't know." Frisk shrugged, shoving her hands in her coat pockets. Sans slowly nodded, and turned once again to start going back to his room. A frown slowly started to make it's way across Frisk's face, when she could feel something cold and metal in her right pocket.

Taking a grasp of whatever was inside, she pulled it out to reveal a golden, heart shaped necklace which hung on a golden chain, which she didn't even remember owning. She kept turning it over, looking at it in confusion. At that moment, Papyrus came back into the room, seeming all excited again, which made her jump. Quickly, she shoved the necklace back into her pocket.

"SO, HUMAN! DO YOU WANT TO SIT AND WATCH TELEVISION WITH ME OR SOMETHING? WE COULD WATCH REALLY COOL CARTOONS!"

"Uhm..." Frisk thought for a moment. With a smile, she nodded. "Sure! I'd like that."

"FRISK! HUMAN! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP!" Papyrus' voice could be heard. Scrunching up her eyes and blinking, Frisk found Papyrus standing at the end of her bed, looking all excited. She managed a small smile and sat up, as her hair stuck up all around her head. Rubbing her eyes sleepily, she yawned.

"Morning Papyrus... Merry Christmas..." She quietly said.

"MERRY CHRISTMAS YOUNG HUMAN! YOU SHOULD GET UP! I'M SURE EVERYONE WILL BE HERE SOON!"

"What about Sans? Is he awake?"

Papyrus crossed his arms in annoyance. "THAT LAZYBONES? HE'S STILL IN BED OF COURSE! BUT I'M SURE HE'LL WAKE UP WHEN EVERYONE STARTS TO GET HERE! HE ALWAYS WAKES UP LATE ON CHRISTMAS. THAT'S MY BROTHER FOR YOU. NOW COME ON! UP YOU GET! I, THE GREAT PAPYRUS, SHALL PREPARE YOUR BREAKFAST! NYEH HEH HEH HEH HEH!" And with that, he left the room to let Frisk get ready. Once again stretching in bed, she let out another yawn.

When she finally climbed out of bed, she pulled on her black leggings and her old Christmas jumper. Looking over to her jacket, she fished her hand into the right pocket, and took out the gold necklace again. She eyed it carefully, before she just shrugged and decided to go over to her mirror to put it on.

When she had, she stared back at her reflection and gave herself a winning smile. Though, for a second, she could have sworn she saw someone else standing in the place of her reflection... But she felt like it was just her mind playing tricks on her... She was pretty tired after all.

Shrugging off the slight feeling of unease, she spun around on her heel to head to the kitchen to greet Papyrus and eat her breakfast. She was quite surprised to see that for once it wasn't Papyrus standing there in front of the counters in some ugly cooking apron. Surprisingly, it was Undyne! Frisk wouldn't have expected her to be such an early bird. Even on Christmas.

"F-Frisk! Y-You're awake! M-Merry Christmas!" She heard Alphys' voice from just over her shoulder and jumped. She had no idea that Alphys was there too.

"U-Uh, Merry Christmas you guys!" Frisk smiled, turning around to face Alphys. She rose her eyebrows behind her round glasses.

"H-Hey! T-That's a n-nice necklace you h-have, Frisk. W-Who got th-that for you?" She wondered innocently. All Frisk could do was shrug.

"I don't really know. I didn't even know I owned a necklace like this... Well, I feel like I've seen it before... I think I might have got it a few years back and I just don't remember ever getting given it."

"O-Oh. I s-see. That's cool..."

"Hey punk! Took you long enough to wake up! I'm just making you some pancakes to eat for breakfast!" Undyne's voice boomed, as her back was still turned to them. Frisk could hear Undyne's fists pounding into the kitchen counter, which made her slightly shudder. Undyne really was tough, even when it came to just cooking. She found it pretty unbelievable that she had managed to befriend such a strong monster like her. She was pretty exhausting to bypass after all. Especially when Frisk would refuse to fight with her when they met.

As they were conversing in the kitchen, a knock could be heard at the door and Papyrus' voice was heard from the living room. "I'LL GET IT!" He happily called. His voice could still be heard shortly after, greeting the guests that stood at the door.

"AH! TORIEL, ASGORE! HOW NICE TO SEE YOU TWO!"
