New Years Kiss

"Cross! Do you know what today is?" Dream had woken up a few hours ago, and Cross was groggily get up due to Dream shaking him violently. "What is today, Dream?" Cross had forgotten, only focusing on trying to go back to sleep. "Today's New Year's Eve, silly!" Dream topped his lover, dipping and giving Cross a kiss. "Is it? It feels like my birthday because your spoiling me," Cross replied.
Cross stood up, grabbing Dream by the waist and hauling him into the kitchen. "You want to go buy fireworks for our first New Years together? Everyone else I think bought some already," Dream had suggested as he pulled something out of the refrigerator. "I guess we can get some. What are you making?" Cross asked, confused. "Cinnamon rolls! I pre-heated the oven and I just have to put these little rolls on the cookie sheet and put them in the oven for a bit, you can go get the fireworks for tonight."
Cross swung on his jacket. Smugly smiling, he pecked Dream on his cheekbone and headed out. Everyone had seen their first official kiss a few months before, and they had warmed up to each other and became inseparable for long periods of time. Cross never left Dream's side for a long while, due to his fear of Dream getting hurt.
Dream had always been so fragile, so frail. He's been through so much, and Cross understood that. Cross had been alone most of his life, the feeling of longing for attention and comfort, a hole in his soul that never be filled. But in some way, Dream had found a way to fill that hole with his love, making sure every corner was filled to the brim.
Dream had just finished glazing the cinnamon buns when Cross came through the front door. In his hand was a huge box, filled with all sorts of fireworks. Placing them near the frame of the door, Dream gave Cross a small plate with the Cinnamon bun on it. Dream gave Cross a warm smile as he gave it to Cross.
Dream glanced at the box, and his eyesockets widened. "How much was that box, Cross?" Cross chuckled. "A nice chunk of gold, but it was quite worth it actually." Dream softly laughed, his eyesockets closed and his mouth giving a smile.

"Cross! I got us a seat!" Dream waved off Cross as he sat on a familiar bench. Dream held two cupcakes, one for each of them. On them were two rings, that sparkled in the moonlight and read '2017!'. They had just gave the fireworks to some others who were directing the show.
"Do you remember this spot, Dream?" Cross knew where they were sitting at the moment. Dream seemed confused at the question. Cross sighed, crawling his hand to Dreams and cradling it. "This is where we had our first real kiss, Dream." Dream had remembered, and his skull was heating up. "I remember..."
Dream placed his head against Cross' shoulder blade, snuggling closely to him. Fireworks started to go off, signaling it was two minuets to 2017. Cross took this chance and dipped his head to look at Dream. Dream's pinpricks gave off it's normal faint light as he stared at the flashing colors.
Cross pulled something from his back, a large firework with their names carved on it. Dream gasped at their very own firework. Dream was about to sat something but Cross put his finger to his mouth. A timer on the firework was at thirty seconds, showing the time of which the night of December 31st of 2016 would change to January 1st 2017.
Placing the firework a good distance away, Cross pulled Dream up to his feet. Before Dream could utter a word, the sound of people counting down from three made Cross lose it. As the timer of the firework hit zero and it launched into the dark blue sky and wrote "Happy 2017 Cross and Dream!", Cross kissed Dream with intense passion. It was their first kiss of 2017.
And it was going to last all year long.
