A young child walked up to the tree full of fear. The golden apples sparkled in the sun light.

"Hello" the tree spirit looked at the child. In the background two skeletons the same size of the child watched in silence.

The child was full of fear.

The skeleton in a black, dark purple outfit approached the child "is something wrong?" The child blinked back tears "I was told to get an Apple or my family will be killed"

The child started crying. The skeleton in the black, dark purple outfit wiped away the child's tears "don't worry I'll help you" the child smiled "thank you" the skeleton smiled back "I'm Nightmare by the way"

The child  a me back to the tree every day. The child had become great friends with the two skeletons.
But the child was closer friends with
Nightmare.

Sometimes the child would stay by the tree during the night.
The child would rest with Nightmare. Who would hold them close. So the child wouldn't get cold or be taken away from him.

One night the child walked to the tree. Nightmare was waiting for them. The child could tell something was wrong. Nightmare had changed after the tree spirit had died.

He smiled at the child and said a simple "hello" Dream was no where in sight. No apples sparkled from the moon's light. Nightmare smiled at the child "lots of stuff has happened since you were gone" he paused "things have changed" Nightmare walked closer to the child "I want you to awnser honestly"

The child nodded Nightmare smiled in return "no matter what will you always be there with me?" The child nodded "yes"

"I took the apples for myself" the child didn't move as Nightmare continued "will you work beside me?"

"Promise to help each other no matter what?"

Y/N's scarf blew in the wind. The blood red scarf covered in dust. Their matching black outfit. Tight but still easy to move in made the dust stand out.

No emotion cane from the killer.

Calm breathing as they approached the battle silently. The sounds of Gaster Blasters filled the area.

Y/N remain standing. They turned to the lazy skeleton. They summoned their attack.

Black dust shaped like a tentic whipped at Sans.

They prepared for another attack.

Y/N fell down. They struggled to stand. Ink stood by them "you know more about Nightmare than Dream does. We don't need to fight"

INK IS SPARING YOU

Sans remained silent

"No" Y/N tried to stand. They tried to fight.

Their soul appeared in front of them and turned blue. Y/N was lifted off the ground. Bones surrounded them "sorry your too dangerous to be left alive"

Y/N showed no fear

Black tenticals shout out at Ink and Sans. They wrapped around the two skeletons before throwing them away.

Y/N fell into the white snow.

Then the white became black.

Alive.

They sat up.

Confused.

"Your awake" there was slight joy in the voice. Y/N looked at Nightmare "I never expected you to save me"

"Remember our old promise?

Y/N felt something.

Something they hadn't felt in a long time. I tear ran down their cheek. Nightmare hugged them. His tenticals wrapped around them holding them close. "I don't know how b-but my LV has dropped"

Nightmare dropped them "you've got to many positive feelings" he sighed "you're a good actor Y/N but I can see through your lies"

Nightmare disapared a pool of black liquid where he once stood. Y/N stood speechless and heartbroken. They want to pain to end.

They picked up a knife and opened a portal to an AU.

They saw a monster.
