Chapter 2: Thieves
A/N: shorter chapter this time guys, sorry!
Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter.
Draco opened his eyes weakly, feeling quite freezing. The ground underneath him was cold... Like concrete. He realised this was because he was in the shade as he opened his eyes more, seeing the skinny, light grey-skinned form of Harry Potter standing, pressed up against a stone wall in the shade as far as he could get.
His eyes were blood red, and he looked... Scared.
Propping himself up on his elbows, Draco managed to turn his neck to look around, wincing at the pain.
They were on the outskirts of the local town that was about ten kilometres from the manor. It had to be nearly midday, as he could hear voices from the Sunday market that was being held.
"I looked around while it was still dark," Harry spoke up after realising the blond was awake. "There's a train station here. If we can get on a train to London, we can get to the Leaky Cauldron and then Diagon Alley from there."
"And how do you suppose we do that looking like this?" Draco said, thankfully realising that all the blood down his side had dried, but it still wasn't pleasant.
"You can do wandless Magic, right? If you can manage to steal some clothes and money from a shop or something, then we can buy train tickets."
Draco sighed, and took Harry's offer of a hand to pull him to his feet. "Okay."
"Can you try and get a hoodie for me? I only realised when the sun came up that if I stayed in it I'd fry..." Harry trailed off sheepishly, holding out an arm that had what looked like third degree burns on it. "Plus I can't be seen the way I am."
"Okay, okay, do you want a special print on that too? I'll get what I can," Draco sighed, the sarcasm in his voice weak and strained.

Stealing the items was much harder than Draco had originally thought. The market was being held, so that would give him the opportunity to steal the clothes and some food. Stealing wallets of muggle money right out of people's pockets though... Wasn't going to be as easy.
And on top of that, covered in blood with a large bite wound across his mangled shoulder wouldn't be the best way to appear in public, so he had to stay hidden.
He'd managed to grab a black shirt from a stall, the man selling them had turned his back for a brief second. Concentrating as hard as he could, he spoke.
"Accio!"
The shirt flew to awards him and hit him in the face.
With a small disgruntled growl, Draco pulled it over his head. At least he could be seen now.
Still, he found it best to stay hiding as he cast a spell to cause a white hoodie to fly towards him. Right at his face again.
Instinctively, he ducked just in time for it to fly past him and into the metal chain fence behind, creating a loud noise.
Draco froze. Someone would have had to have heard that. Baring his teeth, he snatched up the white hoodie and ran, leaping over a fence. He skidded to a stop behind another wall, listening intently. No one had noticed, it seemed.
Great, now time to get some money.
Most of the people were carrying their wallets in their back pockets. The only problem was trying to find people who didn't have the chain that attached their wallet to their jeans... As that could be quite a strange occurrence if he tried to steal it.
Five wallets and 357 pounds later, Draco hurried back to his vampire companion.
"It's white, so it'll block the heat if anything," the blond said, throwing the hoodie which Harry deftly caught as Draco began going through the wallets, pocketing the cash and throwing away the credit cards.
"How much money is there?"
"Enough to get us to Hogwarts. Put that hoodie on, and try to stay in the shade, I honestly have no idea if that'll save your weird vampiric skin."
Harry's eyes narrowed. "It's not my fault, it's not like I asked for this to happen!"
"I never said you did," Draco hissed. "Now shut the hell up, and let's go catch that bloody train to London!"
