Chapter 8: Raining Tunes
As Anya was watching the little raindrops smack onto the window, it was actually quite soothing.
Max was at her house. He was playing a toy piano he brought, so that way they could work on more songs. He was thinking about trying to help Anya remember some of the songs she loved to sing over and over again.
Most times she was just super repetitive because she couldn't remember all of the lyrics.
"Ever wonder about the water?" Anya randomly blurted.
"What?" Max said, looking towards her, "Oh, the rain?"
She pointed to the rain sliding on the glass. Max just laughed and sat next to her. After a while of listening to the pelting of rain, Max answered her question.
"Sometimes I wonder what it's like to be a raindrop," he said, "You go through the same cycle over and over again with no stop. You change who you are, and then you come down as something that you weren't born as. Not only that but you just fly in the air as something else different. It's so crazy for what a drop of water goes through."
Anya got a notebook and started writing something. Max glanced over at what she was trying to say, and once she handed over what she wrote, he already knew.
"I remember that you used to sing this one song called Coming Home. You only sang the chorus because you didn't remember most of the song. You just kept singing 'I'm coming home. I'm coming home. Tell the world I'm coming home. Let the rain wash away all the pain of yesterday. I know my kingdom awaits cause they've forgiven my mistakes'."
Anya handed him her other question.
Can I try to sing it?
"If you can, then sure," he replied, going back to his piano.
Anya closed her eyes as Max played the tune to the song. She then got this faded memory of a girl singing the song, and someone else playing a piano. It was in an area Anya didn't recognize, but it was empty aside from them.
Anya just kept on singing the same part over and over again, and soon she opened her eyes. Although she couldn't recognize why she couldn't sing most of the song, she didn't mind. All Anya cared about right now was what she was thinking.
What was that place? She thought, Did I know that area? Where was it?
Anya looked up, and she saw that Max was smiling at her. She smiled while singing on. Once the song was over, Anya walked up to Max and sat next to him. She wrote more in her notebook and handed the slip to him.
"How do I play?" he said, looking to her, "I've learned since I was four. It was pretty hard, at first, but I got the hang of it. Why are you asking?"
She wrote her answer down.
"Just curious," he read, "That's just like you, Anya."
Anya glanced over to him, and he met her eyes. Something about Max made Anya feel safe. Not in a love way, just....
Safe.
K.C.T: OOWAY! So, I'm typing this a bit slow because my fingers got smashed by my locker closing. My friend and I have this game where we close each other's lockers, and his other friend slammed the door on my finger joints. OW! <3
