Prepare yourselves for a long read!

A new day has come and I'm making my way to school. I couldn't stop thinking about last night. I was so annoyed at the fact that Kokoro has put me on the spot like that but part of me was also glad. It was the first time being put on the spot like that and it felt great. For a song that was heavy, The crowd was very pleased with my performance. 

Flashback to last night

After my performance all the girls gave their gratitude to the crowd on stage, Roselia gave their announcement to advertise their self sponsored show along with Poppin Party though I feel like they did that spontaneously or without any thought. After that the girls decided to stay a bit longer to celebrate in the back room. The party went on for a good minute so I ended up missing the last train. Luckily Kokoro was nice enough to give me a ride home. Once I got home I immediately crashed on my bed because I was up for a long time.

Back to reality

Whilst stuck in my own head reflecting back on what happened last night I suddenly felt a very familiar sensation and quickly turned my head behind me only to to find hikawa who looked like she was trying to get my attention

Sayo: Oh L/N- San I didn't think you would notice me! 

she was a little surprised by how fast I reactws and noticed her so quickly. 

Y/N: Trying to sneak up on me now are we? I said with a bit of smug in my voice 

Sayo: n-n-no! that wasn't my intention she said while looking away

Y/N: Sureeeee....anyways what's up Hikawa?

Sayo: Nothing in particular really, I figured I'd walk with you seeing as that we’re both heading same way to the same place anyways

Y/N: ah I see...

Our walk to school was very quiet. We had nothing to say until Sayo broke the ice...

Sayo: ...sooo...Umm...

Y/N: Yes Hikawa...?

Sayo: I never knew you could play guitar like that.. she said 

Ahh... I knew she was gonna bring up something about my musical abilities...

Y/N: Yeah I guess I'm pretty good...

Sayo: You call that pretty good? 

Y/N: yeah...

Sayo: I see...how long have you been playing guitar? 

Y/N: about a year

Sayo: only took you a year? And you're able to produce that kind of sound! 

Y/N: yeah is there something wrong with that...?

Sayo:...it's just that... nevermind 

Y/N: Yeah I was surprised that people enjoyed it despite being so heavy.

Sayo: I will agree, it was a little too heavy. But even so, it sounded very complex

Y/N: yeah I guess you could say that…

Sayo: I see…

It got silent between us again but this time when I Looked at her she seemed somewhat annoyed and a little pissed for some reason. If I had to guess, she must've gotten offended when I said I've only been playing guitar for a year. Based on her reaction I can only assume that this stemmed from the other Hikawa twin I met last night because like Sayo, the other Hikawa was also a guitarist. Could it be that Sayo has an Inferiority Complex? It's just an assumption but ill keep that theory in mind.

After giving it some thought to her reactions I suddenly remembered what happened the other day that I meant to bring up to Hikawa and Shirokane-San 

Y/N: Hey there's something that I've been meaning to tell you. It's about what happened yesterday when I was gathering some supply request forms.

Sayo: what happened?

I explained to her how the kendo team captain was treating her teammates and how she injured one of her own along with the altercation that I had with the kendo team captain and the events that lead to its escalation.

Sayo: I see… We’ll talk about this with the others when we get to the student council office

Timeskip 
Location: student council room

 We Had our usual morning meeting and I brought up what I had discussed with Hikawa-san during our walk to school. Ichigaya was more shocked at the fact that I was brave enough to go head to head against 3 time national kendo champion, While shirokane-san was more horrified at the fact that she went as far as to injure another teammate while threatening her that if she couldn't stand and fight she would get kicked off the team and that she had the audacity to attempt an attack on me after the match was over.

Rinko: I see… I never really knew she would resort to that sort of abuse for the sake of training and progression…I really hope Shimura-san is okay….

Y/N: she’s fine, that Wakamiya girl took her to the infirmary. I’m just glad a teacher came in at the right time otherwise it would have escalated into something far worse….

Arisa: I'm not surprised by this at all… Eve-san would always complain to me about her but still chose to continue with kendo despite the captain's abusive nature because Eve isn't the type of person who gives up so easily on top of that, Most of my interactions with her were always negative so I always tried to avoid her… had I knew you were going to the kendo club first I would have warned you about her Y/N…

Sayo: I think you’re being a little too hard on yourself Ichigaya - San

Arisa: I know but still….Y/N told me he ran into a situation with the kendo club but I didn't know it was this bad…

Y/N: It’s fine Ichigaya, whatever happened, happened I wouldn't go as far as to beat yourself up over this, just be better next time.

Arisa: y-yeah… 

Sayo: Speaking of which, I think you were out of line too L/N. As a member of the student body, you have certain authority over these types of situations. You should've pushed for a more administrative punishment by putting a stop to the kendo club's activities or even reporting this inappropriate behavior to a teacher rather than go ahead and fight back. I think that was inappropriate of you L/N-San

Y/N: As much as I don't want to admit that you are right, But I have to agree with you on this one Hikawa…I'm fully aware of my status as a member of the student body. My original intent at the time was administrative punishment and I even threatened her with that too… 

I had to pause for a second as the memories of how the fight started in the first place flooded back into my head. And all it took was just a small phrase with only a few words….

Y/N:....But the moment she threatened to kill me, that all went out the window…as you know I don't take death threats very lightly…

I said with an ominous undertone. This stunned Ichigaya and Shirokane silent to the point where they didnt know what to say or reply with. They just looked at each other and then back at me.

Sayo: E-ehem…I think we're just about wrapped up for this morning meeting session 

Rinko: Y-yeah… I think so too 

Arisa: Yeah I agree 

Y/N: Yup let's start heading to class 

I said as I switched back to my usual tone of voice. 

Timeskip to lunch 
Location: courtyard

For lunch it was just Me, Kasumi, Tae, Rimi, and saaya. Arisa couldn't make it to lunch as she had stuff to do with Shirokane along with Hikawa. I wasn't needed in the student council room for lunch because they have stuff for me to do after school so they just sent me off to enjoy my lunch break. Since I started school I've been having lunch with Poppin Party and it's starting to become a normal thing for me.Then again they are the only people at this school who I consider friends so far. As usual, we layed out a picnic blanket and had lunch under the tree that's in the middle of the courtyard.

Kasumi: hey! hey! Y/N! Wasn't last night so much fun?!

Y/N: Yeah it was! It was nice seeing you all perform, I enjoyed listening to y’all

Saaya: So which band caught your eye the most?

Y/N: ehhhh? 

I took a moment to think about my answer. I found it a bit hard to answer considering the fact that each band had their own unique sense of style and sound and personally I enjoyed it all but if I have to say, I think….

Y/N: ….it would have to be roselia. It was something about the song they performed last night that captivated me…I dunno but for some reason I felt as if the lyrics were speaking to me directly…that…and that little chuuni drummer girl was sick as fuck! Like goddamn for a kid her size and age she plays drums very fucking good. Lowkey she’s cool as fuck!

Rimi: oh you mean Ako-chan?

Y/N: yeahhhh!

Saaya: Yeah Ako-chan’s pretty talented for her age. I believe she picked up drumming from her sister Tomoe.

Y/N: Yeah her sister told me last night during the performance. She taught Ako well

O-tae: Awee….does this mean you didn't like our performance at all?

Kasumi: WAAAH! IS THAT TRUE?! DID WE NOT DO GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU! 

She said as she got up close to my face with her watery eyed puppy dog face staring at my eyes…sheesh I swear this girl has no sense of personal space where is Arisa when you need her…

Y/N: Ooookayyyyy! Slow down there cowgirl, first of all I never said anything of that sort so I dunno what the fuck you're talking about Tae. second,  

I Then pulled kasumi in for a hug to calm her down

Y/N: I enjoyed your performance. I thought it was very cute and bubbly and it made me feel pretty happy. 

I said while giving her a head pat. Kasumi then buried her face in my chest then wrapped her arms around my waist 

Kasumi: thank you Y/N

She said as her voice sounded all muffled from her face being buried into my chest

Y/N: yeah no problem It's my plea-...GUUUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!

Out of nowhere this girl decides to fucking tighten her grip around me, locking me into a death hug 

Y/N: GUUAAAAAAAAAAAH! HEEL GIRL! HEEL!!!!

HOLY FUCK THIS GIRL CAN HUG JESUS CHRIST SOMEONE SAVE ME FROM THIS MAD WOMEN!!

Rimi: ah-ahh!… k-kasumi-chan! 

Saaya: Ease up a bit will you?  you're gonna kill the poor boy!

O-tae: Oooooh that reminds me Y/N-san you weren't so bad yourself last night either

We all paused and looked towards O-tae while Kasumi loosened her grip on me while still holding on.

Y/N: Oh yeah…I was pretty shocked myself too. I wasn't expecting the crowd to enjoy my guitar play in all honesty..I went pretty heavy ya know 

Saaya: True but still I thought it was pretty… 

She paused as she tried to think about her next choice of words.

Y/N: You can tell me my guitar playing was shit I won't get offended

I said interrupting her train of thought

Saaya: N-No! That's not  what I'm trying to say at all! I thought it was really unique is all 

Y/N: Suuuuuuuure 

Saaya: I'm serious! I thought it was pretty unique 

Y/N: I know you are! i'm just teasing you 

Saaya just sat there and made a pouty face at me

Rimi: Well I thought it was really cool! I like metal music! 

Y/N: No way really?! What bands do you listen to? Do you listen to American metal or japanese metal? 

Rimi: I listen to both actually but I lean more towards American metal. Even though I can't understand the words I still love listening to it 

Y/N: Wow I never really took you for the metalhead type. I think that's really cool! I got some bands that I think you might like. I'll send it to you later if you want! 

Rimi: Sure! I could use more music in my playlist! 

O-tae: When I heard you play…it was as if I was sent to another world that was being created through sheer destruction but the end product was a land of sheer beauty…kinda like how I imagine Hanazono land! 

Y/N: Jesus Christ O-tae!  I swear that sounded very poetic until you brought up Hanazono land. Which coincidentally the title of that song is called "Utopia" 

Kasumi: I still find it really cool that you wrote that song by yourself. it must've been pretty hard to write

Kasumi said as she looked up at me while still hugging me

Y/N: Oddly enough it wasn't, I kinda just free styled on the scale it was written on, In doing so I just happened to make this song. On my phone I had it labeled as an experiment because it was recorded in one take and I really didn't Know how to feel about it at the time.

Kasumi: OOOOOO! 

O-tae: How long have you been playing the guitar? 

Y/N: About one year! Give or take.

Everyone: ONE YEAR!!!??? 

Y/N: y-yeah! 

I was surprised by the sudden reaction. At Least it was better than Hikawa-san's reaction when I told her that this morning. 

Rimi: Only One year!? 

Kasumi: Waa! That's so crazy!

O-tae: I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy! 

O-Tae  got on her knees and started bowing up and down like how a peasant bows in worship for his Queen.

Y/N: Fucking hell Tae! You don't have to go that far!

Saaya: Wow Y/N you must be a music prodigy or something cause you're really talented to write something like that with only just a years worth of experience

Prodigy huh…I suddenly remembered Hikawa's dissatisfied face when I told her that I've only been playing the guitar. I had the assumption that she had an Inferiority complex over her sister because she too plays guitar as well. I think my assumption over it might be true. 

Y/N: You'd be wrong to assume that…quite the opposite in fact

Saaya: hmm? What do you mean? 

Y/N: I only got to this level because I started off by playing the piano at a very young age.

Kasumi: What does Piano have to do with guitar? 

Y/N: A Lot actually, The piano is considered to be the grandfather of all instruments, it has all the notes you would find on any other instrument along with its different octaves, because of my history with the piano I began to develop what's called "Absolute Pitch" so my hearing is very sensitive. I can pick any sound and know what key it's played on and it's not just limited to musical sounds either but with regular everyday sounds. 

Everyone: WOOOOOOOOOAH! 

O-tae: So cool! 

Saaya: I never knew you had a skill like that under your belt 

Rimi: Do you think I can develop a skill like that?

Saaya: It's possible. I know that musicians can develop that skill but in this case with Y/N,  it sounds like he's developed it to a higher caliber than most musicians. 

Y/N: Saaya is right, Rimi, if you just train your ears well enough you can develop absolute pitch. It is just that mine is super developed because I've been playing the piano for about 5 years. But I recommend not limiting yourself to just bass because you'll only develop it to just hearing bass notes

Rimi: That's fine! I don't see myself playing other instruments so i'm fine with just developing it with bass notes.

Kasumi: Are there any other instruments you know to play? 

Y/N: well aside from the piano and guitar there's also violin, launchpads, saxophone, trumpet, russian balalaika, and also the drums and more but im not going go into further detail with it 

Everyone: WOW! 

Saaya: I remember you telling us in class that you had an interest in music but i didn't know your skills were that wide-ranged

Y/N: Yup and I learned them all fairly quickly all because the piano, well, minus the drums. If you wanna call me a prodigy at something it would have to be the drums because I learned that in a different way. 

Saaya: How so? 

Y/N: So one of my close friends was the one who introduced me to it and the way I learned was by reading how he moved on the kit. So he would teach me by playing and I would just watch how he moved and then mimic it. Eventually I started learning how to play by the sound.

Saaya: Well that's one way to learn I suppose 

Y/N: Yeah but other than that I spent a good chunk of time developing the skills that I have
Today, I worked really hard! It was frustrating but worth it in the end.

O-tae: Hearing you play the guitar… it gave me goosebumps…someday I wanna learn how to produce that sort of sound… not exactly like yours but something similar…I need to work harder…

Rimi: You got this Tae-chan. 

Y/N: Yeah just keep going that's all there is to it.

Kasumi: I need to work harder as well! 

Saaya: Same! 

Y/N: You guys got this just don't give up.

Soon after our conversation lunch break ended and we all went back to class. Kasumi and O-tae went the opposite way while I walked with Saaya and Rimi back to our own class. On our way to class I kept getting the feeling that people were looking at me except this time it wasn't because I was a boy like the first day of school but because of what happened with the Kendo club. Words travel fast around the school as I also heard whispers about it too… which got me feeling self-conscious and insecure … 

Time Skip to afterschool: 
Location: Student council room 

I made my way to the student council room. As I entered I noticed Arisa was there already doing paper work on the table along with Rinko working in the back corner. I knew she was there because of the sound of typing…it's pretty loud…

Y/N: Hey guys 

Arisa: Hey Y/N

Y/N: What's going on? 

Arisa: Nothing much, Today should be a pretty a pretty light day for us this after school 

Y/N: Cool, where's Hikawa at? 

Arisa: Monitor duty 

Y/N: ah so mall cop duty… must be rough 

Arisa chuckled a bit from that statement 

Arisa: anyways today we just need to get some supply request forms from the flower arrangement club and the Japanese tea ceremony club 

Y/N: sounds easy enough, i'll be heading out now 

Arisa: Oh and I think this time you shouldn't have a hard time…the club leaders are actually nice people… she said still feeling a little guilty about the whole kendo club drama 

Y/N: alright i'll be heading out now 

The first club I decided to hit up was the Japanese tea ceremony club as it was nearby. 
I entered the room and noticed a lot of things you would find in a tea ceremony house 

???: Oh it's you! welcome!

I looked to my right and saw Wakamiya, the white haired girl from the kendo club and also last night!

Y/N: Oh hey! I didn't know you were in this club too!

Eve: Yeah! Thank you again L/N-san for saving Shimura-Chan yesterday! You were really awesome!!

Y/N: I guess….

I felt pretty awkward when she brought it up…knowing that I still felt self-conscious about the fact that I brought up a side of me that I didn't want people to see…

Eve: How can I help you? 

Y/N: Oh nothing much I was here to collect supply request forms 

Eve: Oh I see! Let me get Kanon-Senpai!

She went ahead behind the paper wall to grab kannon. While doing so, I took the time to observe everything around the room. Most of it was just antique tea sets from across Japan, one of which I noticed as it originated from the Kansai region. 

???: Umm…L/N-San….

I looked behind me i noticed a familiar blue-haired girl 

Y/N: Hey I remember you. You're the Drummer from Hello Happy World!

And the girl I used to lure out the student body I thought to myself hehehe…

Kanon: yes..I am…now what can I help you with?

Y/N: Yes, I'm here on student council business, I came here today to collect your supply request forms.

Kanon: Oh yes! 

She went back behind the paper wall and came back out with a folder and then handed it to me. 

Y/N: I took a look inside and inspected the document to ensure that everything was in order.

Y/N: Alright! Everything checks out, Now if you’ll excuse me…

Kanon: Umm…L/N-san…

Before I could walk out the door she called out to me. I turned around to acknowledge her

Y/N: yeah? What's up?

Kanon: I just want to apologize for Kokoro-chans actions last night…Im pretty sure she must’ve given you a really hard time…

Y/N: Nooo I wouldn't say she gave me a hard time…I will admit, I was a bit annoyed that she put me on the spot like that but I had fun, besides this isn't my first time getting put on the spot so i'm pretty adaptable. I cant say that I was pissed either, so it's fine 

Kanon: really?...i'm glad…I just felt really bad is all..

Y/N: Naw dont be, If anything I should be the one apologizing for using you as a lure, I still feel pretty bad for using a girl as kind as you…

Kanon: o-oh…no worries… 

Kanon blushed at the fact that I stated that she was kind. I mean she really is after all, I can tell by the way she carries herself she's a very soft girl much like shirokane is.

Y/N: Welp I'll be on my way I'll see you later 

Kanon: o-oh okay well thank you for stopping by please come again.

I waved her goodbye as I made my way towards the next class but before that I made  a pitstop to the bathroom 

Timeskip 
Location:Flower arrangement classroom

I went inside the flower arrangement club room and was met with various, beautifully arranged flowers. 

???: Welcome, how may I help you… ?

That voice… it sounded very familiar… don't tell me…I looked to my side and could believe who it was 

Y/N: Eh?!…Wakamiya…what are you doing…

Eve: hmmm?...What do you mean? Im a club member 

Y/N: weren't you in the tea ceremony club just now…

Eve: Yes… but I'm also in this club too! 

Y/N: Soo what you're saying is that you're in kendo, tea ceremony and flower arrangement...? 

Eve: Yes! 

Y/N: why…? 

Eve: Because I love Japanese culture! I want to learn all about the culture of japan! I love it so much!  

Y/N: Ah, that explains it…then you probably already know why I'm here then 

Eve: Yep!

She handed me a pink folder. In it were their supply request form. Like with the tea ceremony club I inspected the document to make sure everything was good to go.

Y/N: alright it's all good thank you! 

Eve: yeah! I knew you were going around collecting these forms so I let my club leader know ahead of time before you came in

Y/N: Oh thanks! That made my job a lot easier!

Eve: L/N-San before you go… I just have one question

Y/N: sure…? 

I think I know what she's gonna ask me… and quite frankly I'm kinda hesitant to answer…

Eve: When I saw you fight The captain the other day…It was like nothing I've ever seen before in my entire life…those techniques…it scared me at first… and the way you handled the sword with such confidence it was as if you knew the blade from front to back. You were so fast! And so Quick! like lightning! So I ask you…

She came up closer to my face much like kasumi this girl doesn't know the concept of personal space

Eve: Where did you learn how to fight like that? 

I looked away from her. Hearing that question, it made me think about my younger days in Tsushima when my master trained me in the art of swordsmanship. My master at that time was very strict and taught me in the hardest way possible. Everyday was rough, I always came back from training tired and filled with bruises. Although it was rough it got relatively easier overtime. One thing he would stress is the fact that it was either you or your enemy and that it's either you fight and win or you hesitate and you die. The times where I would train with him, each day felt as if I was fighting to live another day. It was brutal but it taught me the essence of valuing my own life. 

 Even though my master was so strict and so hard on me, he cared about me so much, hence the reason why he trained me so brutally. In a way, he didn't just teach me how to fight with a sword but also the meaning living life and that I should protect it…He was like another father to me even though he was so hard on me but unfortunately…

Y/N: Sorry wakamiya… but that's a question I don't feel like answering…Excuse me… 

Eve: E-Eh? Wait L/N-san! 

I walked out of the room without looking back and hastily made my way towards the student council office. Hearing that question not only made me feel very self-conscious of the other side of me, but also brought up memories of my first Master

On the way, I thought back on the memories I shared with my first master…as well as his teachings. My master taught me not just everything about being an assassin… but also about how hard life can be and how to overcome the struggles of life through sheer Combat and harsh training. Every lesson that he has taught stuck with me throughout my life as an assassin up until now as a regular member of society. I still reflect back on his teachings…. 

My master was not only harsh and strict but also very wise and powerful and a very cunning warrior. He made "master" at  a young age just as I did. Looking back at it now I feel as if my master saw how my life would turn out to be in the future, hence why he gave me, and imparted as much wisdom before he met is end… 

Flashback

When I was young, Our temple got raided by another enemy faction. During that night of the raid my master and I along with Minami got stuck inside the main temple fighting off waves of enemy forces. Because they had stretched our forces so thinly across the island, there was no hope in getting any reinforcement. Minami and I had reached our limit and so too did our master but he tried to stay strong for our sake. Eventually things turned for the worst, he knew we had reached our limits and so my master ordered me and Minami to leave while he volunteered to stay to aid our escape. 

I was so heartbroken when he suggested that. I tried to argue with him and told him that I wanted to stay and fight alongside him… but all he did was tell me was:

Master: Y/N…you are but a mere child… I did not teach you to find value in your life just for you to throw it away at this moment… it is way too early for you to make that kind of decision… 

Young Y/N: But master, shouldn't you value your own life as well

Master: Y/N listen to me…my time has come… I have lived a long and meaningful life…as long as I know that you will be safe I am more than willing to die for you guys…Now go both of you there's not much time before the next wave gets here!

young Y/N: but master I… 

Master: MINAMI! YOU ARE THE MATURE ONE! TAKE THE BOY AND LEAVE NOW! I'LL HOLD THEM OFF WHILE I STILL HAVE A BIT OF STRENGTH LEFT IN ME! 

Young Y/N: Master No!!! 

Master: and Y/N…please…Live a good and meaningful life…I have given you all that I have so that you would become the better of us all… I have nothing more to teach you…sooner or later you will realize everything behind my words….

Those were the last words he had said to me before Minami dragged me away…and drew his last breath… 

Back in the present

Y/N: Fucking hell… why couldn’t she just ask about my musical skills like the others did…

A/N: Hey guys that about wraps up chapter 8. For this I decided to go with more of Y/N- characters development and tied his past to the present. I know a lot isn't clear yet but stick around. Hopefully chapter 9 will come out as soon as possible. As the next chapter will go in tandem with this. Oh yeah and I changed up the writing style too so hopefully you guys enjoy it.
