find what you love and let it kill you. let it drain you of your all. let it cling onto your back and weigh you down into eventual nothingness. for all things will kill you, both slowly and quickly. but it's much better to be killed by a lover.
"Lucille. Hey, Lucy. Can you hear me?"
The battered woman opened her eyes to see the familiar ones of Rami. Her heart soared at the sight of him, although those beautiful brown orbs of his were filled with tears; that scared her.
"Hey, love." She managed, her voice hoarse and a small cough followed.
A small chuckle sounded from the man as he wrapped her weaker hand in his. Carefully, he raised the appendage to his lips to place a sweet kiss on the back of it. He continued to rub the back of it as he lowered it into his free hand.
"You had all of us - me especially - worried sick. You took the worst of that move; Stephanie is okay, just a couple bruises and dislocations. The doctors said you are very lucky to be in the situation you are in.
It... it could've killed you."
A small sniffle came over him, causing him to move one of his hands to wipe away the stray tears. Weakly and shakily, Lucy's hand followed his and stroked his bearded cheek.
"Hey, you're not getting rid of me. Not that easily." She joked before another cough racked her tired body.
Rami couldn't help but smile as he tried to calm her down. He didn't need her hurting herself more than she was already facing. However, seeing her come around did make him feel a bit better.
As he tried to explain what had happened after the match, the doctor had returned, happy to see her awake and well. She picked up where Rami had left off, explaining how she had suffered several broken ribs, internal bleeding in her head and chest, as well as lung problems. She was rushed into emergency surgery as soon as she arrived the night before. At this point, she was stable, but they wanted to keep her hospitalized just to be sure. Lucy thanked her before she allowed the two to have some time together.
"I'm sorry." Lucy groaned as the doctor shut the door behind her.
Rami looked at her confused, "For what?"
"Last night was supposed to be our moment, but look at me: I'm in a hospital bed over a stupid accident that I can't even remember."
"Stop that," Rami's voice fell, almost hurt that she would even say that. He took her hand again and rubbed his thumb along it, "You didn't ruin anything. It was an accident, you couldn't help it. And who cares about our moment? Lucy, don't you see what you've done?
You beat Stephanie McMahon. You won.
"You brought about the change the company desperately needed. You inspired millions of people around the world. Look at Eli, she thinks the world of you and, as quoted by Kevin, says she wants to be like you when she grows up. You've done more in a year than many can say they have in their whole careers.
"You don't need to be sorry about hurting yourself. It could've happened to anyone. I'm honored enough to say that I've had you beside me every step of the way until the very end. Being with you after the match meant the world, and nothing will ever change that. So, don't be sorry. I will remember that night not because it was an important milestone in my career,
but because you were there."
Lucy smiled, her hand squeezing his tighter.
"You're too good for this world, Rami Sebei."
"I've been told by a couple people." He chuckled. She giggled in return, warming his heart.
As the two continued to talk about the night before, familiar faces trickled in to share their love with the woman. Some brought little gifts to wish her a speedy recovery. All in all, they tried to spread a bit of their happiness with her; she was alive, what more could they ask for?
One person who was especially glad to see her was little Elodie Steen. With tears in her eyes, she tried to climb the bed to embrace the woman she thought so highly of. When Karina thought that wouldn't be a good idea, Lucy insisted, holding out one of her arms and exposing her side for the little girl to rest against. Elodie leaned against her with such care and caution amidst the tears streaming from her eyes. Lucy loosely wrapped her arm around the girl, pulling her into a weak hug. The adults swooned as the words Rami spoke earlier hit her, causing tears to form in the corners of her eyes.
She really did make a difference. Not only towards her friends and loved ones, but towards the wrestling community as a whole. With every step she took, change followed in her wake. And now, with Stephanie gone, the women and underrated superstar's of RAW would be able to see the spotlight. The thought alone caused a smile to form.
She had made it.
Like a child, Rami refused to leave his girl. Until she got better, he felt the need to be beside her not only to reassure her, but himself as well. The hospital was kind enough to let him stay in the waiting room. However, if he was going to stay, then Eli was going to stay too. Karina tried to talk some since into her daughter, but the spitfire little one was determined as all hell, just like her father. Kevin reasoned with his wife that he'd stay with his child and best friend, making everyone feel a bit better. Allen stuck around as well, wanting to make up for lost time with his best friend.
As the hands of the clock clicked by the second, Rami had the hardest time sleeping. He wanted nothing more than to leave this place behind with Lucy back to one hundred percent again. But he couldn't. She needed to get better and he needed to be patient.
A loud and continuous beeping filled the empty room, causing a commotion to be stirred with the doctors. Rami, wide awake at this point, watched as they all filed into one room. Lucy's room. Disregarding his friends, Rami rushed over towards the room to check on her.
"Sir, please back away." A nearby nurse stopped him, causing his heart to beat faster.
"That's my girlfriend! Please, I need to know what's happening." He begged. To the nurse, it was just another case of a loved one being worried sick about the patient. There was nothing they could do but let faith take its course.
"Prepare her for surgery." One declared as like a herd of ants, they wheeled her out of her room.
Her fingers twitched against the bed as her chest rose and fell quickly; it was as if she was having an episode. A cold sweat broke out on her forehead as her skin turned paler and paler.
"Lucy!" Rami called out, only to be pushed back by the nurse. With fear in his heart, he watched as they wheeled her through the double doors further into the facility.
When the commotion died down, Rami looked over at his friends. Kevin tried his hardest to console his crying daughter, who must've scene the same horrid sight he did. Allen was on the phone, the receiver filling with the voices of Olivia and Adam in distress over the state of their daughter.
Rami's eyes fell back towards the double doors as he wondered what was happening to Lucy. His heart broke little by little as a feeling of helplessness came over him. He knew he wanted to help her and he would do anything to, but he couldn't. And that scared him more than any challenger he had faced before.
Everything felt tight and heavy as Lucy opened her eyes once again. Breathing was a struggle as her lungs felt they were not getting enough air. The mask on her face offered some assistance, but it still hurt. Something was wrong.
It must've been around dawn now, judging by the colors of the sky out the window. Last thing she knew, she had woken up around midnight to pains her head and chest, and an overall difficult time breathing. Doctors had swarmed the room, but she didn't remember more after that.
Taking in the sights of the room to adjust, she noticed the red headed man curled up in a chair with the faintest of snoring sounding from him. A feeling of guilt washed over her, feeling bad that he had to sleep like that. She understood that in his eyes her health was the most important right now, but his health was just as important as well.
Trying to adjust in her bed, a yelp sounded from her as the pain in her chest grew.
"Baby?" Rami's voice filled with concern as he approached her bedside. She swore he could sleep like a bear, but if anything were to happen to her, he'd be up almost instantly.
"I'm sorry for waking you." She tried to apologize, knowing how little sleep he had gotten the past couple of days.
"Don't worry about me, I'm okay. How are you?" His hand stroked the side of her head, causing her head to turn towards it in comfort.
"It hurts."
"I'll get the doctor."
Before he could move his hand, he noticed her cuddle into it more. A single tear fell from her eye and splashed into his palm. His heart stopped momentarily as her pure brown eyes found his.
"I love you."
Rami lost his breath as the words sunk in. Never did he think that she would be the first to say it, but it meant the world to him that she did. Leaning down, he placed a kiss on her forehead, stroking the side of her head once more.
"I love you, too."

Cathy fidgeted with the ruffle of her dress as Ben set up the camera for her. Anything to try and avoid the waterworks, she tried to preoccupy herself. But, how could she? For the past couple of days, everyone was feeling the same way she was. It was like a dark cloud loomed over the company as a whole.
"I never thought I'd have to do this." She sighed, hugging herself to keep from crying.
Behind the camera, Ben sighed. Sure, he wasn't feeling the effects as much as the young woman, but that didn't mean it didn't hurt. He approached her with a kindhearted hand on her shoulder.
"I know it's tough, Cath. But they deserve to know."
Letting out a breath, she slowly nodded. Ben patted her twice before returning to his spot behind the camera. Cathy got into position as well, trying to push her emotions to the side for just a moment. Clutching tightly to her other hand for some sort of support, she declared she was ready; if she waited any longer, she would backdown and sike herself out.
"Hi guys, Cathy Kelley here, and it's with the heaviest of hearts that I must report to you that our friend and beloved colleague Mykie has passed away. Mykie suffered several fatal injuries from her bout against Stephanie McMahon last weekend in their WrestleMania match. And although she fought bravely for two days, she was unable to recover and passed away yesterday afternoon surrounded by loved ones.
"Mykie was more than just the revolutionary women's champion that graced your television screens on Monday nights, she was our friend. She was a kindhearted woman who poured her heart out into making a change and helping everyone she met. And as we take a moment to process this tremendous loss, we will not be continuing with the live shows scheduled for this week; we hope that you guys understand.
"Colleagues of Mykie have established a medical fund if you'd like to support her family in that way, which I will link to in the description. We also want to take this opportunity to thank you for your outpouring support for the past week, and we continue to ask you to respect the privacy of Mykie's family and friends during this difficult time."
Her voice started to break and she couldn't hold back the tears anymore. One, two slid down her cheek as she tried her hardest to wrap up her statement.
"I know we speak for all of us here at WWE when I say
We love you Mykie, and we will miss you very much.
Thank you."
I hope you guys enjoyed. How did I do? Let me know in the comments. Thanks for reading. And until next time, heart you. ♥
