A table was placed in the center of the ring for the contract signing to commence. Fans bared mixed reactions as Stephanie McMahon herself presented them with the contract.
Ashley and Lucy sat on opposite sides of the gorilla position, waiting for their cue to emerge. As Ashley made small talk with her father, Lucy sat in silence with her thoughts.
Since debuting, she's showcased a world of talent by defeating multiple women in the locker room. Trinity, Mercedes, Saraya-Jade "Paige" Belvis, Brianna "Brie Bella" Garcia-Danielson. Just a few of the talent she's had the honor of facing in the squared circle.
But none of that mattered to her. If it didn't make an impact, it didn't matter. Lucy was focused on one thing:
Bringing in a new era of women's wrestling. If that meant having a title around her waist, that was just an added bonus.
Her head stayed low as she watched the stagehands usher the Fleihrs through the curtain to the hissing of the fans. Not long after, she was called as well. Letting out a deep breath, she suited up her armor of confidence to stand toe-to-toe with the she-devil and the champion once again.
The fans reactions altered from booing to cheers as Lucy's music started. Her white jumpsuit made her look angelic as all hell; that is an angel who's not afraid to get her wings torn up a bit.
Inside the ring, Stephanie, Ashley, and Ric sent disgusted glances towards the smaller woman. That didn't break her stride, though. In fact, she relished in their dirty glares; it just made what she was doing all the more worth it.
Now, a ring away from her opponent in two weeks time, Lucy's smile had the intentions of thorns, but the beauty of a rose.
"Ladies, in two weeks, you two will meet face to face for the inauguration of the WWE Women's Championship." Stephanie spoke with a prowess of power, causing Lucy to let out a small scoff. The fans roared in response, causing a smile to sneak onto her face. "With that being said, Charlotte," Stephanie turned towards the blonde with an exaggerated smile, "We would like to congratulate you on being the final holder of the Diva's title. Your abilities and your actions this past year have been nothing less that spectacular."
"And, Mykie," Lucy licked the corner of her mouth as a big smile formed. Stephanie looked appalled even standing in front of her, "I'm not going to sugar coat anything with you: I don't like you." The fans instantly booed, causing a small giggle to sound from the Canadian, "You're just lucky that my brother had enough balls to go behind my family's back to sign you. Really, you owe him the world.
But all I want in this entire world is to see you fail."
The fans distaste grew louder as Lucy shook her head. As she lifted her microphone, she took in the crowd for support. She was locked in a lions den, but she wasn't afraid. She wasn't going to back down.
"Typical, typical Stephanie. When something doesn't go your way, you like to release this so called 'wrath' on the company.
But I'm not scared.
You are all talk; you hide behind your power and your husband to win your battles. It's quiet pathetic, really. Maybe that's where Charlotte over here learned it from."
The fans gasped as Lucy's power was emanating. Brushing a piece of hair out of her eyes, she stepped closer to the second generation superstar.
"You know, Charlotte, there's a lot of differences between us. You are a second generation superstar; I came from nothing. You were the NXT Women's and WWE Diva's Champion; I haven't touched a title yet here. However, I fight my own battles; you hide behind your father. I stand up for what I believe in; you're just a copy of your daddy's legacy.
I am a Woman; you are a Diva.
And at WrestleMania, you can rest assured that I am going to show you what a real woman looks like."
The fans cheered loudly as Lucy took the contract from Stephanie's manicured hands and signed her name boldly on the dotted line. Looking up at her competition, she smirked before shutting the book and pushing it towards her.
Without saying a word, Ashley opened the book and signed her name. She had nothing to say to the so called 'revolutionist'; she was going to let her actions do the talking.
When it was all said and done, the two met face to face in the center of the ring. Two of the best in the company, head to head, toe to toe. It would all come down to the better woman at WrestleMania.
The continuous pacing of Rami in his locker room caused both Fergal and Kevin to roll their eyes. His chipper attitude was faded by his nerves for the bombshell that was Lucy. How infatuated he was by this woman; practically everyone could see it. If only he could man up and confront her.
"You're so pathetic." Kevin scoffed before collecting his belongings and leaving the room.
At that point, the words didn't affect Rami. He understood that Kevin being rough and expressing the hard truth to his Canadian brethren was the way he expressed his love. He was what set Rami straight, to pull him down from dreaming too big by hitting him with harsh reality.
The red head let out a deep sigh before sitting down on a nearby bench. His bearded chin rested on his closed fists as his mind wandered. The thing about Lucy was she was not on his level, she was greater than him. He thought any attempt he would try to make with her would be pointless.
He didn't think he was worth her time.
"You're killing me, man." Fergal admitted as he slid the black arm band over his right arm. Rami looked over at him meekly before returning to his thoughts. Suddenly, he was grabbed by the arm and dragged out of the locker room by the Irishman, "Come on."
Nerves rushed towards the ginger as the two maneuvered their way through the arena. He made a couple attempts to try to break free of his friend's grip, but it was no use. Fergal continuously scanned the area for the woman, a smile breaking out on his face when he spotted her. Tugging Rami in front of him, he watched as the bearded man's face change from nervousness to awe.
Lucy still bared the outfit she wore out to the ring for the contract signing. Her hair was tousled to hide the shaven section and a bright smile crossed her face as she spoke to Renee "Young" Paquette. She looked so comfortable in the backstage environment, like she was starting to get used to this lifestyle.
Fergal nudged his friend forward, a push to get him to man up. Nervously, Rami looked back at the man, his hands fidgeting slightly. As he looked back towards the woman, he summed up the rest of his courage with a deep breath before heading over.
Lucy noticed the underdog making his way over towards her. Smiling and excusing herself from the backstage interviewer, she decided to meet him halfway. Rami's footsteps halted as the smaller woman stood just feet away from him.
"Mr. Sebei." Her smile felt like a warm blanket wrapped around his shoulders. Rami slowly found himself growing comfortable as his nerves subsided.
"Please, call me Rami." He smiled back, causing a small giggle to sound from the woman.
"Alright, Rami. What can I help you with?" Rami couldn't help but smile brighter over the sound of his name on her lips. A small blush came over him from the thought, which he tried to rub away with the back of his hand.
"First of all, I wanted to see how you're feeling. You looked to take a pretty nasty beating last week. I meant to talk to you, but..." Momentarily, the sight of Allen kissing Lucy on the forehead flashed before his eyes. Gritting his teeth slightly and faking a smile, he tried to hide his emotions, "I got caught up with Kevin."
The side of Lucy's mouth turned up in a smirk and she stifled a giggle. She knew that Rami was near her at the end of that night, but she still didn't understand why he didn't stay.
"I'm okay. A little pain to my back, but it's better. Thank you for being concerned."
"You're welcome. But, that's not the main reason I wanted to see you."
"Oh?"
Rami nodded in responce as his hands started to sweat. His fingers twisted in his clenched hands and his actions grew more animated, as if he used them to find just the right words to say.
"Well, WrestleMania is coming up. And that means the Hall of Fame Ceremony approaches as well. And since I'm not going with someone, I was - I was wondering if you'd like to accompany me? I mean, I completely understand if you don't want to; it's kind of a lot for me to ask. And I bet you'd want to bring your boyfriend instead. I just thought because you are new, I could show you around. But I knew it'd be a stretch to ask-"
"Rami." Lucy placed a hand on his upper arm, completely stopping his rambling. A fierce blush formed on his face out of embarrassment, causing his excited demeanor to fade. He was quite surprised, though, as she let out a small chuckle and rubbed the spot her hand occupied. Goosebumps covered his skin as he looked her in the eyes. They were soft and gentle like a puppy, so warm and inviting like home.
"Are you asking me out on a date?"
"I... I'm trying to, if you can glean anything from that." He chuckled nervously. Lucy's smile grew as she removed her hand; Rami suddenly felt cold without it there.
"I'd be delighted to accompany you."
Rami's jaw fell in awe as he couldn't believe her words to be true. He just landed a date with one of the most beautiful women, he believed, on the roster. His smile could not be swayed as it continued to grow.
"Really!?"
"Really. It'll be fun."
"G-great! I can't wait! I'll give you more details when it gets closer." His smile of joy was still prominent across his face, causing Lucy's to grow as well.
After exchanging numbers, Lucy excused herself to change and head for the next town. Rami nodded in understanding and kindly waved her off. As the two forms retreated from one another, smiles grew as they looked down at their phones.
What a start to a beautiful friendship.
