Many Years Later...
Location: MT EBOTT, 201X.
Legends say that those who climb the mountain never return.
The day was warm with a cool breeze drifting through the trees and grass around the mountain. It was a perfect day to be outside. Birds were singing, flowers were blooming... On days like this, normal kids would be outside playing with their friends.
A young boy, about the age of seven or eight gazed at the sight before him. A huge mountain loomed over him, looking threatening in the early morning sun. He had been told not to climb this mountain. He was way too young, and didn't even have half the experience needed. He started his trek upwards, in spite of warnings.
Why is such a young boy trying to climb a mountain?
It was a dare. If he didn't do it, then his friends would have told his crush that he liked her. He didn't want that to happen. Okay, at least not yet. He wanted to be the one to tell her. He wasn't going to let some dare get in the way, now would he?
A slight breeze ruffled his hair as he gazed at a sight entirely new to him. Where flat ground was supposed to be was a hole. No, not a simple hole dug by a passing animal. This hole was huge. It looked like it went down forever.
Curious, the boy stepped closer. Vines trailed down into the hole, which actually had a slight dip until the ground just fell away entirely. He peered over the edge, wondering what was below. He gazed down to be greeted by grass and flowers. That's all he could see, because they were the only thing that touched the sunlight. Everything else was covered in threatening shadows.
The boy had heard rumors of monsters living under the mountain. Were there any hiding in the shadows? What about in the sunlight? He shivered at the thought, causing some rubble from under him to tumble down into the abyss below. The kid panicked. He backed away as the the dirt and pebbles fell, but only more seemed to fall from underneath him. He let out a cry as he fell forward, feeling nothing but air around him and the sensation of falling. The land that had been below him moments ago was now rushing closer and closer. He closed his eyes, and hoped for a quick death. If the fall didn't kill him, then monsters surely would.
And suddenly, everything stopped.
The boy sat up, confused. Surely I'm dead? he thought. But as he looked around, he realized that he had not died. Somehow, some way, he had survived.
He was at the bottom of the hole now, the sunlight shining on him from above. The young kid now sat on a bed of yellow flowers. He looked shocked from the fall still, his eyes wide. He heard something stir behind him, causing him to quickly turn around. He scanned the surrounding only to see nothing. He felt fear growing inside him, slowly crawling up his back. He was not alone in here, that was for sure.
He had to get out of there.
The kid stood up from the bed of flowers and picked up his slime beanie that had landed near him. He then looked around for a way out. Maybe there was only this hole? Maybe... He then saw a tunnel that would hopefully lead out of the hole and back up to the surface. Hopefully. He was determined one way or another to get out of the underground.
He made his way into the tunnel. The air around him grew colder and colder with each step, until he came across another cave. Sunlight trickled down form multiple holes in the ceiling, illuminating a few patches of grass here and there. He looked to the left and the right, slowly taking in his surroundings. A lone blue flower was growing in the center of the cave. Yellow light shone down on it. The boy gazed at it for a few seconds before fixating his gaze at some markings on the wall. They were nothing special, just a few little drawings on the rock wall. They were faded with age, but he could make out what looked like two people sitting in a patch of flowers.
"Uh, Howdy!" A voice called from behind the boy. The boy quickly turned around, his eyes wide."I'm Flowey. Flowey the Flower!" The boy looked at the strange flower, now confused. "You're new to the Underground, aren'tcha?" The boy nodded. "Golly, you must be so confused. What's your name?"
"Pete!" The boy smiled, seeming happy.
"Well, Pete, someone ought to teach you how things work around here! I guess little old me will have to do! Ready?" Pete nodded. "Here we go!"
"In this world, you start off weak, but you can grow strong if you gain a lot of LV! What does LV stand for? Why, Love, of course! You want some Love, don't you?" Pete nodded again.
"Don't worry! I'll share some with you! Down here, love is shared through..." The flower made a face as though he was trying to come up with something. "Little white.... 'Friendliness Pellets'."
"Are you ready? Move around, get as many as you can!"
Little white orbs appeared behind the flower, glowing in the dim light. The flower winked as Pete went towards one. He grabbed it and instantly filched, then quickly let go. It felt like his hands were burning. He turned around to face the flower, whose face had a terrifying expression on it. His eyes were black with white pinpoints. "You idiot..." Flowey laughed. Pete looked scared beyond belief. The flower... was evil?
"In this world... It's kill or be killed."
The flower laughed once more. A circle of the white orbs appeared around the young boy. "Die." Flowey said quietly. The orbs started to close in on Pete slowly. They circled around him, as if taunting him. "Stop!" He cried, desperate as they grew nearer. Flowey only laughed more. Suddenly, the laughter stopped.
"What a terrible creature, torturing such poor, innocent youth..."
