Chapter Eleven
Patricia woke up to the sunrays shinning in her eyes. She groaned and lazily sat up on the bed, stretching her arms and back till she heard a satisfying pop sound.
She felt a dull ache in her head and raised her hand to massage the spot.
Dipping her hands under her pillow she felt around the soft bed till her hand fell on the small black bible she was looking for.
She pulled it and adjusted her hairnet. She got off the bed and knelt down with the book placed on the edge of the bed, she opened the holy book. She read a chapter and with her eyes closed she started praying.
"Father lord. I give you all the glory, honour and adoration. I bless and glorify your holy name, mighty man in battle. Ancient of days, the lion of the tribe of Judea, I praise you! Thank you for all you have done in my life and for all you are about to do........"
She walked to her bathroom and closed the door behind her. She stood in front of the faucet and stared at her reflection in the mirror.
She had dark circles under her eyes that looked like sagging pants. Her eyes looked red from exhausion and lack of sleep. Her cheeks looked wrinkled from constant frowning and pimples covered her face.
She sighed and turned on the tap. She cupped her hand under the spray and splashed her face mutiples times before applying toothpaste on her toothbrush and started brushing her teeth.
She finished within five minutes and headed out the room. Immediately she closed the door, a sweet aroma invaded her nose. She followed the scent of spices and fresh leaves to the kitchen with a huge smile on her face.
"It smells amazing in here" She stated as she watched her mother stiring something in the pot.
"Uhm" was her mother's response
"Good morning Mami" She greeted
"Morning" her mom replied without sparing her a glance.
She got into the kitchen and started washing the plates in the sink.
"I didn't ask for help, just leave it" Her mom said in a calm voice.
"How many more times do I have to apologize Mami" Patricia asked in a broken voice
"Zero, you don't have to apologize" her mom replied
"But mom I..."
"No, your apology means nothing to me. Why apologize when you don't even feel remorse for your actions?. The only thing your apology is doing is reminding me of how you disappointed and disgraced me" Her mother replied and turned off the cooker.
She walked up to Patricia whose eyes were filled with tears. She collected the sponge from her hand and started washing the plates while humming an old song.

Patricia was in the living room staring at that television with a blank look on her face.
She looked to be deep in thought and worry lines were visible on her forehead.
She sighed as she heard her mothers footsteps coming towards her.
"I'm going out" was all her mother said and took her keys from the center table.
She looked at the black screen of the television then Patricia. She shook her head and mumbles under her breath.
"When you refused to be a good woman why will you not be troubled" She felt pity for her daughter and wanted to forgive her but she knew that if she did so easily Patricia will not feel remorse for her action.
She wanted her to first wallow in her thoughts before talking to her when she was ready.
She closed the door behind her and the sound resonated throughout the house.
Patricia felt a ringing in her ears and her eyes went to the door. She felt tears running down her cheeks as she remembered her mothers mumbled words.
When you refused to be a good woman why will you not be troubled
She felt a pang in her chest. She never knew she could feel that much pain and anquish in her entire life.
Self sacrifice they say is the greatest gift but she felt almost dead.
Who would she run to when everyone saw her as the culprit, the wolf in sheep's clothing.
How will she even prove her innocence when there was so many evidence against her.
All because of a twisted minded person she lied not only her husband but her mother and inlaws she considered her second parents and siblings.
She felt so alone.
She felt heart broken.
As her tears rolled down her cheeks and soaked her shirt she felt useless and unloved.
She was on her own, all alone with no one to run to for comfort and reassurance.
She felt her resolve crash and at that moment she wondered why she was even alive.
Who was she living for?
She had no one?
What's the essence of life without a loved one?
She ran to the kitchen and started rummaging through the cupboards. Plastic plates and cups fell down, breaking into pieces as they hit the tiled floor but she payed no mind to that.
She has had enough!
She walked out of the kitchen stepping on the broken pieces that pierced her flesh but she was numb to the pain.
She ran back to the living room leaving a trail of blood, she walked to two stepped center table and right there on the flat surface underneath was tge bottle she had been looking for.
She grabbed the bottle of the sleeping pills and emptied the entire content to her palms.
She poured half the tablets to her mouth and started chewing, the smell of medicine was something she never liked but today her nose was blocked along with all her senses.
All she could concentrate on was consuming the tablets. She swallowed and did the same with the others. Two minutes later her stomach started reacting to what she took.
She felt pain in her stomach, it was as if someone was stabbing her with a knife continuously and squeezing her intestines.
She groaned and moaned in pain as she fell to the floor and started rolling around hoping to ease the pain.
She screamed in agony and rolled around the floor.
She heard the sound of the door opening in the distance and approaching footsteps as she wallowed in her misery.
She didn't want anyone to see her like this but judging by the scream that she just heard she knows that someone was going to witness her death.
'At least I'm not alone in my last moment' was her last thought before her eyes closed.
