Chapter 5

In the morning I woke up hoping that everything was a dream. It wasn't. I got out of bed and swam to the window. This place was so pretty. I could see the rays of sunlight in the water.

"So... you're awake?" I heard a voice say.

I turned around and saw that it was Aaron.

"Ya," I responded.

"Your father sent me to escort you to breakfast, but I think you should change out of your pajamas first."

"I will."

"I'll wait for you in the hallway."

"Okay."

Aaron left the room. I looked in the dresser that was by my bed. There were all different styles and colors of tops. There were also of few dresses.

Let me explain something real quick. Mermaids don't only wear bikinis. They wear dresses, tee-shirts, and bikinis. It makes my super mad when someone thinks that mermaids only wear bikinis.

Back to the story, I pick out a a halter top that was dark blue.

I put it on and left the room. Aaron was right beside the door. He looked so hot!

"Let's go!" I said.

Aaron walked me into the dining hall. I found my dad sitting at the head of the table.

"This is your seat," Aaron said pulling out the chair next to my dad. I sat down.

"Good morning Coral," my dad said.

"Good morning," I replied.

"Coral?!" I heard a voice behind me say.

I turned my head to see a girl standing in the door way. She was tall. Her was red and it was super long. She had a pink tail. Her eyes were the same blue as mine. She quickly swam over to me and gave me a hug.

"I'm so glad I finally get to meet you!" she said to me.

"I'm sorry to ask this, but who are you?" I asked.

"I'm Charolette, you're big sister."

I was so confused at this point. So my has happened since yesterday morning. First, I found out I'm a mermaid. Second, I found out my dad was still alive and he was a king. And third, I found out I have a sister.

Charlotte walked over and sat in the chair right across from me.

"So, tell me about yourself Charlotte," I said.

"Call me Charlie," she replied.

"Okay."

"Well... I'm 17 years old, and I love to read."

"I love to read, too!"

"What's your favorite book?"

"I really like 'Pride and Prejudice' by Jane Austin."

"I've never heard of that book."

"Really? It's a classic!"

"Was it written by a landliver?"

"Ya. Why?"

"We only have books written by merfolk here."

"Oh. Okay."

For breakfast we had seaweed muffins. They were so good! I have never eaten anything like them. They were sweet and savory at the same time.

"Coral. Are you ready to go?" my dad asked.

"Yes," I responded.

"What do you mean ready to go? You just got here," Charlie asked.

"I have to go and explain everything to grandpa. I promise I will come back," I answered.

"Follow me," my dad demanded.

Charlie, Aaron, and I followed my dad into the throne room. Sirena was in there. She handed me my glasses and necklace.

"Sirena, what exactly does my necklace do?" I asked

"When a mermaid or merman is dry their tail becomes legs and when they get wet their tail comes back. Your necklace allows you to keep your legs when you get wet," she answered.

"Okay."

"Are you ready?"

"Ready as I'll ever be."

"Remember to come back," Charlie said.

Sirena grabbed my hand and I was back on the beach.
