~One month time skip~  

   I was so excited for today. Today is my 16 birthday. That means that soon I will get my first mission. I am slightly scared about that but mostly excited. I was in my room reading a book on blending in/acting like grounders. When I heard the house phone ring. Everyone was home, this was after dinner. I could hear my mother speaking to the person on the other end of the phone.

   "Yes this is Savanna Lester" "Yes" "Ok, could you hold on for a second?" "Ok, thank you." I am not standing at my door trying to hear her conversation when I hear her say, "Octavia." I go out of my room and run down the stairs.

   "Yes mom?"

   "The head leaders are on the phone, and...... they would like to talk to you."

   "Oh ya sure ok" I cleared my throat. I was nervous. I hope this was about my new mission and that I was not in trouble. Even if it is about my mission I am still a little nervous and anxious, and also a bit scared.

   "Hello is this Octavia Lester? I am Mr. Jones, part of the head leaders."

   "Yes this is Octavia."

   "Ok good. Well I am calling about your first mission. You have just turned 16 correct?" "Yes that's correct."

   "We have selected a mission for you, it is fairly simple, you are to go to the Oakland High school to observe some very intelligent creatures. Do you think you are able to do this?

   "Yes"
"Alright perfect. You will be receiving more information located in the packet tomorrow morning."

   "Ok Thank you." The call ended. My mom was listening in on it the whole time, it was on speakerphone, and I had just noticed that Nikki was in the room. I also noticed that my mom had tears in her eyes.

   "Mom....." I said. She looked up at me.

   "It's ok." I said I went over to her to give her a hug.

   "I know...... I know this is silly but I still can't believe you're 16. I also am very worried. It is your first mission."

   "Mom. I know, it's ok. I am nervous too." I pull away and look at her. I should probably tell my family and try and get ready. I look over to see Nikki. She comes up to me and gives me a hug. We go up to our room and talk, I know she will miss me, but she will be 16 too and will start going on missions as well.

   Later that evening 

   We are all sitting in our family room. Brady, Nikki, Alex, Tris, Toby, Wes, and my parents. Nikki is holding Darcy, and mom is holding Dakota. I am nervous and sad to tell them. I love my family so much and I am about to leave. I think they might know that I am about to tell them that I am.

   Here we go, "Hi guys, um, I just got my call for my mission."

   "Really? That's awesome" Brady says.

   "So does that mean you're going to be leaving soon?" Tris asks.

   "Yea, I shouldn't be gone too long."

   We came up to be and gave me a hug and said, "Tavy, I don't want you to leave."

   "I know I'm sorry, I'll be back soon." I said.

   Mom's eyes and nose were still a bit red a puffy from when she was crying. I could hear her sad sniffles. I know how she's feeling, she was like this when Brady left for his first mission also. Sad that her babies were leaving and old enough to go on missions.

   "Be safe." My dad said.

   "I know, I know. I've been through my training. I will try and be safe." I said.

   "You should get a good night's rest, your package information should be here tomorrow morning.

   "Ok you're right." I gave everyone a hug and then went up to go to bed. Nikky came up with me. We got ready for bed, and cleaned up a bit. Then we got in bed and started talking.
"You know, I'm really gonna miss you."

   "I know. I will miss you a lot too."

   "But that is cool, and tell me all about it."

   "Ya I will." We then went to bed.
