Estelle
I felt my cheeks heat up. "Nothing."
"Well, that's a pretty nasty scar." He mentions, taking his hands away from my back and handing me my shirt.
I pull the shirt over my head. "It was just something that happened down in Pangaea, I was eight."
"Oh." He says. "I'm gonna pack, you should too."
"I will." I say, looking over my shoulder, smiling at him.

It took about 7 hours to drive to his parent's house. He drove most of the way, but I got to drive a few times, when he wanted a brief nap, harder than it looks.
We get there at midnight, ironically, the doors are locked and everyone's asleep.
I knock on the door, while August looks for the spare key.
"It's so cold." I murmur.
August hums in agreement, lifting a fake rock. "Found it."
I step aside and he unlocks the door, pushing it open.
You could tell just by the first room, the living room, that his parents love Christmas.
Lights and toys line the mantle. lighting up the room with colorful array.
August joins me in the center of the room after he's done locking the door.
"Your parents' house is very lovely." I say, looking up at him.
He slips his fingers between mine. "You're lovely."
I blush and lean into him. "Can we go to bed? I'm exhausted."
"Sure, follow me." He answers.
we walk upstairs into some teenager-y room. Posters of rock bands were plastered all over the walls, along with a few football posters.
"This is my teen-hood castle." august says, plopping down on the bed, untying his sneakers.
"Did you play?" I ask, pointing at the football on his side-table.
"Yeah, I was the quarter-back, almost got a full-ride at college." He says, putting his shoes by the bed.
"Why didn't you?" I ask.
"I got hurt, broke my leg, actually." He answers, looking up at me.
I look back at him and pout. "Poor you."
"I got into writing and everything was fine." He says, walking into his closet.
I reach over and pick up a face-down picture. It was of him and his team, kneeling in front of a cardinal. A small smile makes its way onto my face when I see August.
He smiled brightly at the camera, holding a football.
"Hey do you want any clothes to sleep in?" He asks from the closet.
"Can I have a shirt and sweatpants?" I ask over my shoulder.
"Sure thing." He says, walking out of the closet.
I put down his picture quickly, looking over at him.
He tosses the clothes at me. "Get changed and we'll go to bed, okay?"
"Okay." I nod.

I wake up alone, the sun shining in my eyes.
The sound of talking and dishes clattering filters through the bottom of the door.
Kathryn peeks her head through the door.
"Oh, you're awake." She whispers. stepping into the room, followed by Trisha.
"Hi, Estelle." Trisha waves.
I yawn. "Morning."
"We wanna pull a prank on August." Kathryn explains. "At his house when you were missing, he pulled the old spider-in-the-shower prank on us."
"We wanna get him back." Trisha nods. "We need your help."
"What am I gonna do?" I ask, perking up.
They both smirk.
"We want you to scream, then hide in the closet." Kathryn explains.
I smile. "I'm in."
August
I put the plate in the dishwasher, smiling at my mom.
Then, out of the blue. Estelle screams bloody murder from upstairs.
Without thinking, I drop the bowl and it smashes on the ground. I run upstairs as fast as I can.
I push the door open.
Bad news, Estelle wasn't in bed or anywhere to be seen.
"E?" I yell out.
Kathryn comes into the room, looking concerned. "What happened?" She asks.
"Estelle's gone." I say, looking at her with wide eyes.
Trisha pops in next. "Oh my God, Auggie." She holds out her arms.
"She can't be gone." I say, tapping my chin. "I took her to my parents house to keep her safe, she can't be gone."
Kathryn gasps. "Aug, do you think those nasty scientists got her again?"
"Oh god." I cover my mouth. "Did they?"
Rebecca walks into the room. "What happened?"
"We think Estelle got kidnapped." Kathryn explained.
"How can you be so fine when we don't even know where she is?" I say, looking at Kathryn with hateful eyes.
"Maybe she slipped in the bathroom." Rebecca suggests.
I nod, shoving my way out of the room.
I push open the door to the bathroom, No Estelle. I felt the familiar anxiety creep up my throat.
"Guys where is she?" I ask, wringing my hands.
"August, I'm sorry, she's in the closet, we wanted to pull a prank." Trisha says.
I roll my eyes, trying to look annoyed when really all I felt was relief, and push past them, going back into my room.
I slam open the closet door, my eyes frantically scanning the dark room until I see her shadowed figure.
"Aug, I'm sorry, I didn't know you would get so upset." Estelle says, biting her lip, much like she always does when she's nervous.
I heave her into my arms, tucking my head into her neck, inhaling the familiar scent. "Don't ever do that again."
"Aug--" I cut her off my pressing my lips to hers.
Her hands go immediately to my hair, ruffling the back of it.
I pull away, looking into her eyes, which were the most clear thing in the dark. "I love you." I breathe, tucking a loose hair behind her ears.
"I love you too, I'm sorry for pranking you." She says, pulling herself out of my arms, and walking out of the closet.
I absentmindedly watch her walk away, My face breaks into a soft smile.
I try to think of something else, but my heart convinced my brain not to. It's so obvious she broke me and no force in the world could fix me, but the catch is, I don't want to be fixed.
