Chapter Two: A Prince and his Guard
In the court yard of the castle of the king of Silver Soul, two skilled warriors are about to fight. One warrior is clad in red plate mail armor with a black heart on the chest piece. His silver long sword shining in the light of this autumn afternoon. His reddish brown hair swaying slightly in the fall breeze as his chocolate colored eyes focus on his opponent. This is prince Chara. He is one of the best fighters in his father's military and is a paladin that follows the vengeance goddess Karma. Chara is a relentless fighter and often uses his anger to his advantage. His opponent is an elf by the name Alyx. Alyx' yellow tinted skin compliments her bright green eyes. They have a hand crossbow raised at Chara, and ready to fire. The golden plate mail armor that Alyx wears signifies that they are a paladin. She is a paladin of the justice god Tyre. The red pauldrons on her shoulders shows her position as a royal guard. The sparing match began when Alyx fired a shot at Chara. The crossbow bolt logged itself between two plates of armor on Chara's body. Chara charged at Alyx. Chara's raised sword came down on her plate mail armor, bouncing off of it harmlessly. Alyx threw her crossbow down to the floor of the court yard. She unsheathed her sword, slamming the hilt into Chara's gut, sending him stumbling backwards. Chara momentarily droped to his knees before charging back at Alyx. Alyx simply parried Chara's strike and swung at his now exposed chest. The strike caused Chara to stumble backwards and fall.
"Looks as though I win again." Alyx chuckled.
"Shut up old woman!" Chara retorted as he got up.
"I am no woman."
"So you're a man?" Chara said with a grin.
"What! No! I am of the female gender."
"That would make you a woman then."
"I am not a woman! I am an elf." Alyx said stubbornly.
"So what sex are you?"
"I am a female."
"So in other words you are a......"
"Be quite and get up!" Alyx said while helping Chara up off of the ground. "No offense your majesty, but you are acting a bit childish."
" Aren't I always? In battle and while training I'm serious and menacing but Frisk taught to relax and that the world isn't so black and white."
"Are you okay? This is very out of character for you."
"I'm fine. Besides, you're more of a sister to me than a mentor." The two walked from the courtyard of the castle into the city, still playfully teasing each other like siblings. The tall stone buildings stood like pillars along side the crowded streets, keeping up the infinite ceiling that is the sky. This is the center of trade for the kingdom. Merchants rushed about from store to store trying to sell their goods before winter comes, inevitably stopping their travel and all traffic through the mountains that surrounded the city. Chara and Alyx continued through the crowd of people.
"Your majesty, have you seen Frisk? She usually reports to me before going to the commons, but she hasn't done so today. I know I should've asked back at the castle, but it's my duty to protect the royal family and if anything happens to you or your sister, your father will quite literally have my head." Alyx said, sounding worried.
"It's fine. Gregory took her to the grand opening of that new cleric's guild, she's fine." Chara said.
"I guess your right."
"After all, who's going to try to attack Frisk with Gregory guarding her? He's huge!" Chara said reassuringly. "We also need to start assembling a party for that mission father is sending us on."
"What better place to look?" Alyx said motioning to the crowd. With that, the friends started their first step to a new adventure.
