*Sonic's POV*
"I'm going to kill her." I opened my eyes slowly, my head was over a pillow, and I had been covered with a blanket. My ears perked up, and I quickly sat up and looked out the window then at the time.

I had stayed the night at Shadows' house.

"Wh-Whats going on?" I asked as I saw Shadow standing beside the dining table holding a piece of paper. I grabbed my phone and lowered my ears with a light blush at seeing Rouge send me a picture of Shadow and I asleep together. I put my phone down and rubbed my face, trying to get the red away from my face, but miserable failed.

"You're awake." Shadow said as he walked to me and handed me the paper.

'I found something about Maurice. Come over to my house once you're awake -R'

"Well, at least she had a reason to come over." I shrugged, trying to hide my own fear. "Should we go?"

Shadow looked at me as I stretched. He stayed quiet for a bit, then glanced away. "Stay here." He muttered, and the next second, he was gone.

I shrugged and went to the kitchen, making myself at home even though I felt like Shadow was going to get mad at me. I wasn't afraid of him hurting me anymore at this point, Shadow was soft around me, and I liked that. As well as the fact that this relationship was finally real.

Although I knew this was a bad idea. Being in a relationship with Shadow made me happy, truly happy, but I was lying to him. I was betraying his trust, and I was getting him in trouble at G.U.N. for failing a mission. I needed to tell him the truth and hope he wouldn't be so mad. Hope that we can do something together to get to an agreement on what to do. Hope that he will choose to help me.

"What are you doing? I don't need you burning my house down, Faker." My ears perked up, and I looked up as I put the pan down on the stove burner. "I brought you food."

I looked down at the bag he was holding. The bracelet I gave him was tangled with the bag, so he placed it down on the counter and tried to undo it. I smiled softly and walked to him.

"Let me." I said, placing my hand atop his and removed the bracelet from the tangled bag. "What did you bring, Shadz?"

"Open it." Shadow grabbed the bracelet and put it back on. I found that really cute. He decided to actually wear it. He walked to get us some plates and then came back to sit beside me.

I opened the back, my ears perking up at seeing a box with chili dogs and another with two slices of pizza. I looked at him and smiled. "What about your rule?"

"I figured I could break it at least once." He grabbed his pizza slices and started eating, I did the same with my food.

"Is it perhaps that you're silently celebrating?" I raised a brow with a light smirk as I took another bite of my chili dogs.

"Shut up, Faker." Shadow rolled his eyes. I could only smile at this.

Before we even finished eating, the front door opened. Revealing a pretty annoyed looking bat. "This is what you two were doing instead of coming over? This is the first time I've ever seen you act so reckless, Shadow."

My heart started racing. Whatever she had found, it was either who I was or a step closer to finding out. I was worried, my nerves taking over, feeling now like throwing up, but I masked it.

"I had to show you two something. Look." Rouge walked to us holding a folder. She placed it in the middle of the table and opened it. There was a picture of Scourge as Manic and Sonia stood in front of him, giving him the mask. Maids were behind Scourge as they took his measurements, and Sonia showed Scourge of picture of Maurice. "I was finally able to go get a look myself yesterday. I was tired of getting no results. This just shows I am better than the two of you. Came up with more results than you have."

Shadow clenched his fists. "What is that trash doing there? Is that who Maurice really is?"

"No. I got audio recording, too."

She pressed a button on her communicator and it played.

"Why do I have to wear this again?" We heard Scourge talking. My stomach dropping. "Why not just call him over?"

"Because he is busy. You're just going to have to cover for him again." Manic spoke now.

"Come on. We asked Tails to fix the mask so it could fit you better. All you have to do is show up to the event today, Maurice doesn't talk to anyone, so you luckily don't have to." Sonia spoke up. "Now make sure you pay attention to his posture. You were slacking at the event the other day. Look at the picture and look at how you are standing." The audio ended.

"So the hedgehog there wasn't even the prince? Scourge was covering for him?" Shadow asked, Rouge nodded.

So much for our plan. Dang it.

"Sonic." My ears perked up, and I stood up straight. "They mentioned Tails in the audio. Do you think you can talk to him?"

"I uh... Sure. Yeah. I can do that. But I doubt he knows anything." I rubbed the back of my head. "I will - I will go do that now." I looked at Shadow, my heart nearly beating out my chest at the idea that I could have got caught already. "I'll keep you guys updated if I find anything."

"Great. Thank you, Blue." She nodded at me, and I dashed off.

*Rouge's POV*
I watched as Blue left and then looked back at Shadow. "He got you flowers?" I asked as I tried to make a decision on what to do here.

"He did." Shadow nodded as he grabbed the plates they had used and made his way to the kitchen.

"You ate junk food?" I asked yet again an obvious answer, but I had to. I had never seen Shadow act this way.

"I did." He cut his answer short.

"Are you happy?" I walked to him, looked down at the picture I had taken off Scourge, and the siblings.

This time, it took Shadow a bit longer to answer. But even if he hadn't actually said it out loud, I already knew the answer. It was the reason why I had decided to stay quiet.

"Yes." He wasn't looking at me. His voice was calmer than usual.

It was the reason why I chose not to confront Blue when I saw him last night or even this morning. How could I hurt Shadow like this? Tell him that Blue has been lying to us all?
