Undercover Princess Mia : Chapter Twenty Two

"I-I'm Princess Mia," I said meekly since anyway there was no use hiding anymore. There was a mixture of hurt, sadness, anger and resentment clearly visible on Noah's face. It wasn't really fair that he had told me everything about Kyle and Uncle John and I didn't reciprocate. Noah looked absolutely devastated since I had let him down.

"I'm s-so sorry, Noah. I didn't mean to --- "

He cut me off by shaking his head and stumbled back.

"I wish things were different between us, Noah," I said wistfully and he stared at me, his piercing blue eyes cold and glassy. I broke his trust, his belief, his love. I took his hand and lightly kissed his wrist, silently apologising him and surprisingly, he didn't pull away.

I took one last, longing look at him, dropped his hand and walked inside the house, leaving him in the backyard. It was my mistake for falling for a person with whom I could never be together. I should have stayed away from Noah right from the beginning, but I didn't. Now I deserved the outcome of my lies and I was solely accountable for his and my shattered heart.

I sensed a feeling of déjà vu when I peeked through the gap in the curtains to check on Noah. He walked away quietly, hunched forward, kicking a stone in frustration and his hands shoved in his pockets. I watched him disappear in the darkness and I let go of the curtains. I plopped on the bed and reached for my phone which was placed on the night stand.

I dialed my dad's number and patiently waited for him to pick up the call. After three continuous calls, he finally picked up and I sighed.

"Princess, I'm sorry. I'm a little busy right now, we should talk later," he excused himself and my little finger twitched.

"Wait! I want to say something important--- "

"Look dear, I'm really busy. You should call your mother and tell her or your--- "

"Noah knows everything!" I snapped, the swirling emotions gripped my soul and shook me to the core.

"He got to know about you, his father, everything?" he asked dubiously and I cracked my knuckles.

"No, he knows about me, not about Uncle John, yet," I said, emphasizing on the last word.

"Well . . . I see."

"He got to know that I was lying the whole time and all you say is 'I see'? Seriously dad? I thought maa was cold and not understanding enough, but look at you dad! Can't you see your daughter is suffering?" I questioned tartly and I could hear some shuffling on the other side.

"That's not what I meant, dear. You should come here, now. I'll tell them to arrange for you to come in a day or so. And er . . . you bring Noah along."

"Why? You want to make sure whether he won't tell about all this in the media or reveal it to everyone. If so, then even I'm not coming there," I spat out the words in disgust.

"I want you to bring Noah so that I can tell him the truth. Everything. Also, you can bring some of your friends along with you. Katy once mentioned to me that you bonded with them a lot. Are you alright, dear?" he asked sincerely and I nodded, then realized that we were talking on the phone and not through Skype.

"Yeah, I'm fine and I'll talk to my friends and Noah whether they'll agree or not." I hung up the call without listening any other word from him. I did blame him for all this because he sent me here out of all places. If I hadn't met these beautiful people, then maybe everyone wouldn't be so hurt.

I called the maids and instructed them to call Anne, Marya and Ginger here so I could tell them the truth before going and maybe take them along with me. Besides, summer break was starting in another couple of days, exams were already over so they could come with me. It would probably be like a minivacation.

I wore a floral skirt which reached just above my knees and a yellow flannel shirt, a rather absurd combination, but I could pull it off like a boss. I took a deep breath as I combed my blonde hair which appeared almost golden in sunlight. My hair was thick and gorgeous, well taken care of by my hair stylists. It felt nice to get rid of the hideous wig and to show my true self to all of my friends. The maids were explaining to Anne, Marya and Ginger about my disguise, so that when I showed them my true self, they wouldn't freak out like Noah. I didn't blame Noah because it was a lot to take in.

Obviously, the maids left the part of why I was in disguise or about Uncle John, or about my sister, or about Ethan or . . . God . . . so many things I had lied about. My life was messed up or in other words, totally fucked up.

I applied strawberry lip gloss, smacked my lips and took one last look at my reflection before walking out gingerly. I saw Anne and Marya standing up from the couch in the living room, their lips apart in awe as they watched me gliding down the stairs. They clasped their hands together and as I reached towards the last step, they pulled me into a very tight hug. Behind them stood Ginger who's wide brown eyes met mine as she gasped in shock. Unlike the twins, she didn't believe what the maids had said.

"Oh my God! Amelia Parker is indeed Princess Mia!" the twins exclaimed in unison and burst out giggling as I pulled away.

"Girls come in for dinner, food is waiting for you." One of the maids dragged the twins inside the kitchen and I sighed. Ginger and I were left alone in the quiet room. Ginger showed no signs of joy, her face grim and her lips pursed into a thin line.

"I think we should have dinner first and then talk," I suggested softly, but she didn't move. Her arms were firmly crossed against her chest while she looked away from me, tapping her feet impatiently on the carpet. "I'm sorry, Ginger. I couldn't tell you."

"No, I'm sorry. I should have known that day at school in the cafeteria when how anxiously you reacted to the news about the Princess." She sneered and my head hung low.

"I know I deserve this, but please try to forgive me and come with me, with Anne and Marya to England," I whispered, my eyes pleading her.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I have planned a road trip with Chad. I forgot to tell you," she said bitterly and before I could apologise, she stormed out of the house. I stood gawking at the door. I knew she was lying because her parents were quite conservative and would never allow a trip with her boyfriend.

"Ma'am, come in for dinner."

After dinner, I went to Noah's house to convince him to come along with me to England. I stalked silently and took a deep breath before I rang the bell. My heart hammered against my chest and I was welcomed by Carla who smiled warmly even though I had hurt her son so much. Carla was already informed about my adventure, my disguise, so she wasn't surprised when I stood there without wearing the wig or glasses, like the damn princess I was.

"You look beautiful, come in," she said without any hint of hesitation and held the door wide open for me.

"Erm. . . no, thanks. I'm good. I just wanted to meet Noah and talk to him," I said awkwardly and fidgeted with my skirt.

"Sorry honey, he's not at home. He went out a while ago."

"Okay then, when he returns back home please tell me," I requested her and she nodded. It was already past ten in the night now and I didn't want to disturb her anymore.

I walked quietly towards my house, my shoulders slumped in defeat, but then suddenly, I saw a tall figure lumbering on the street. The person looked clearly drunk from the absurd style of walking and limping. I stood there figuring out who it was and to my astonishment, it turned out to be none other than Noah.
