Finally It's Happy Ever After

Five years have passed.

Emmett was racing around the house from room to room.  "Whee!!" he yelled.  Sandy chased behind  him, barking along to his laughing.  "I beat you, Sandy! I winned!"

"Emmett!" Robbie said from the living room where he was playing puzzles with three year old Amelia.  "Quit running around making all that noise, dammit."

"Robbie!" Christina called from the kitchen, with baby Christian on her hip.  She was busy rushing around the kitchen trying to getting their lunch together.  "Quit cussing in front of the kids."

"What's the big deal?" Robbie shrugged.  "My folks used to cuss in front of me all the damn time.  No harm done."

"Dammit!" Emmett yelled as he ran up to his mommy and hugged her legs.

Christina patted Emmett's head.  "Take a guess why."

"Oh yeah."

"I swear," Christina hugged her little boy.  "This is your own mini me over here."  She bent down until she was close to Emmett.  "Sweetie, that's not a nice word.  We don't say that, okay?"

Emmett pointed at Robbie.  "But Daddy says it all the time.  Why can he say it?"

"Cause your daddy is a P-A-I-N in the A-S-S." Christina said.  "and you're a good boy, aren't you?"

"I'm a good boy." Emmett said proudly, running back to Robbie and Amelia.  "Right, Daddy?"

"Da--darm right.  Chip off the old man." Robbie said.

Christina addressed the room. "Kids, come get some lunch."  She sat the baby in his high chair and served the lunch with Robbie's help.

"Yuck!" Emmett pouted as he picked at his food.  "I don't like baloney."

"Why?" Robbie said as he ate his food.  "It's yummy."

"You liked it yesterday."  Christina said as she fed Christian some baby food.  "Eat your food, sweetie."

Amelia joined in.  "I don't like it too! Yuck!"

Robbie nodded at his little girl.  "Big surprise, she always has to follow big brother over here." He gave her a kiss on top of her head.  "That's my little princess."

Christina sat and watched as her family talked with the occasional bickering.  The kids looked so much like their father.  They all had his bright green eyes and chestnut colored hair. Yet they inherited her feistiness and spunk.  She was glad, they were surely going to need it in this crazy world.   It seemed like yesterday when she first found out that Emmett was on the way and she would be a mother, now he was joined by two siblings who were growing faster by the day.  Where did the time go?

Right now Christina was taking some time off from modeling.  After Emmett was born she was able to get back into it and had a successful career.  Now with three kids she wanted to put her focus on them while working on her clothing line.   When she got pregnant with Amelia they decided to move to a house large enough to accommodate their growing family.  The extra room was more than welcome.

Robbie was also having good success with his acting.  He had already done a couple of movies and was currently working on a hit TV show.  After several years Christina was surprised that they were still together in love. Their passion hadn't faded a bit over time.  Life was pretty sweet in the Kay household.

After lunch, while Robbie cleaned up the table with Emmett and Amelia, Christina carried the baby to his nursery for his nap.  As she laid him in his crib and patted his back she thought about how blessed she was to have a large family of her own.   Her kids were her life and heart, she was amazed that she and Robbie had created three little angels.

When Christian dozed off, Christina turned on the music box that hung nearby.  It was shaped like a stuffed lamb.  The song played "Somewhere Over The Rainbow."  She tiptoed out of the room, closing the door after her.

She went downstairs to the living room where her husband sat back on the large sofa, surrounded by dolls, toy cars and children's books.  She sat next to him with a sigh as they both put their feet up on the coffee table, which was covered with a couple of wood puzzles and colorful blocks.

"We really need to stop putting up our feet on this." Christina said as she sank back into the sofa.  "It's not right."

"Meh," Robbie said while putting an arm around her.  "I'm not worried."

Christina sighed as she leaned her head on his shoulder. "I am so exhausted.  Can you run and grab us something to drink?"

"I would," Robbie said.  "If I could just get up and move.  I can't even clean up this mess.  Do you know, when I asked those kids to clean up in here, those little devils faked like they were too sleepy to work.  Those little sneaks."

"Gee," Christina said in a sarcastic manner.  "I wonder where they got that from?"

"I know, right?"

They were silent for a moment, enjoying each other's company as well as the quiet they so rarely got these days.  Then Christina suddenly giggled as she remembered something.

"What are you thinking about, babe?" Robbie asked, caressing her hair.

"I was thinking about when we met," Christina said while she patted his leg.  "That first day I moved into that apartment."

"Oh yeah," Robbie smiled.  "The apartment that was mine first."

"Shut up."

"When I saw you in that lobby I thought damn, that's a real woman."

"I bet,"

"Seriously.  I had just gotten settled in.  I remember I was hanging around in the lobby wondering what I felt like doing," Robbie said.  "Then you walked in and it was over for me.  When you dropped your bag and spilled your undies all over the place, I think that was where you had me.  I think I was a goner."

"Really? I wasn't sure if you were a serial killer or not." She remembered how uncomfortable she became when he wouldn't stop staring.

"I can't believe you didn't recognize me at first," Robbie pouted.  "That's the part that really amazed me.  Girls are always after me cause of my work and here you are thinking I'm some murderer."

"I did think you looked familiar." Christina grinned up at him.

Robbie scoffed.  "And yet you recognized Colin right off the bat."

"Of course, he's my fave."

"Then go have babies with him.  Let him do some diaper changing and watch Sesame Street and Barney.  See if he's too tired to give you a proper banging."

"You're so crazy."  Christina said.  "But really, I keep wondering about that mistake that landlord made when he rented your apartment to me."

"Like what if he hadn't made that mistake?" Robbie asked.  "Yeah, I still think that but I don't worry about it. Even though it was mine first, it was the best mistake ever."

"You really feel that way?" Christina was touched.  "Me too."

"If we hadn't been forced to move in together," Robbie said.  "We would never have met, fell in love and had our precious family." He gave Christina a kiss on her forehead.  "I call that a happy accident."

"A happy accident that led to happily ever after," Christina said.  "Forever."

"Forever?" Robbie said.  "Can you see us fifty years from now?"

Christina laughed.  "Oh man I can't even imagine it."

Robbie hugged her.  "Since the kids are sleeping, wanna have a quickie?"

"That's exactly how we ended up with all those kids," Christina said.  "I can see you still at it fifty years from now."

Fifty years later.

The elderly couple was sitting on the back deck of their house watching their great grandchildren run and play.  They were slightly hunched in the swing as they sat closely together.  They held hands as the swing went slowly back and forth.

"Robbie?" Christina said, speaking towards his ear.  These days he was having trouble with his hearing.  "Did you remember to take your pill?"

"Yes." Robbie was hugging himself.  "Why is it so damn cold out here?" He was already wearing a gray sweater.

"It's only in the sixties," Christina rolled her eyes.  "It's not even windy."

Robbie was now wrapping his arms around her.  "Why don't you warm me up, baby?" he winked.

"Don't you ever quit?" Christina said.  "Seriously, you and that overactive--"

"You weren't complaining about it last month." Robbie grumbled.  "Admit it, you loved it."

Christina had to admit it, her man still had it.  At their age, even with the white hair and with his thick glasses and rheumatism, Robbie still had the fire.  "I can't believe you're not worn out by now."

"Hell, we wouldn't have this huge family if I wasn't able to take care of business." Robbie said.  "It's all your fault."

"How's that?"

"Well look at you.  Sitting there all sexy."  Robbie managed to poke his wrinkled finger at her side.

"I put on a few pounds though." Christina said.  "Having all your kids."

"You're as gorgeous now as you were when I saw you walk in that lobby."  Robbie said, his eyes growing misty behind his glasses.

Christina was touched.  "I can't believe you remember that." In the past year Robbie's memory was starting to go.  He couldn't remember his kids' birthdays and he basically forgotten which grandchild was who.  She was no longer surprised when he forgot her birthday or their anniversary.  It was okay.  She couldn't always remember things either.  As long as they were together they did just fine.

She flipped her long silver hair.  "I'm glad you think so."

Robbie slowly put his arm around her and gave her a kiss on the cheek.  "Thank you for moving into the apartment that was mine first."  he said.  "You made me the happiest man alive."

Christina kissed him back.  "You're welcome, and thank you for not kicking me out of that apartment.  You made me the happiest woman around."

"No problem.  Even though it was mine first."

"You would remember that." she remarked.

Christina rested her head on Robbie's shoulder and watched as their great grandchildren played in the yard.

"So," Robbie said.  "Is that a yes on the warming me up?"

"You're so bad."

"You know you love it."

"Yes, I do, Robbie."

They held hands and just sat together enjoying each other's company.

The End

A/N  Thank you for reading this book to the end.  I can't believe I started this book on December 22, 2015.  It was my most popular Wattpad book and has won one award.  I am so glad to all the readers who voted and commented.  That has kept my inspiration going.  I am sorry to see this end.  It was a lot of fun to write, especially when I read the comments.  They made me laugh so much.

Again, thank you all.

Shout-out to CriddleTheWriter for the edits.
