Chapter 25: Girls just wanna have fun

A/N This was playing on the radio and it just kinda inspired me a little. Love this song.

"We decided that it's time for you to take the next big step into your high school career." Finny barges into my door with Ollie.

"No." I look up from my phone as I lay in bed. I go back to scrolling through my Instagram feed, throwing out hearts without really looking at what each post is.

"It'll be fun." Ollie jumps onto my bed beside me.

"Are you clean?" I give him a dirty look as I eye my bed under him.

"Clean as a whistle." Ollie leans in. "Smell me."

"No." I wrinkle my nose at him before I go back to looking on my phone.

"That's rude. We are talking to you right now." Finny takes the phone from my hands. He proceeds to scroll through my feed, pausing here and there. We basically follow the same people so he's probably already seen all the posts.

"That's my phone. Give it back." I look at him a little grumpily. I'm not in a great mood where I want to play with their little games.

"We will pay for your gas and even be your personal chauffeurs for the next week if you come." Finny says.

"Why? It's just a stupid party. You guys can just go without me. It's not like you aren't invited."

"It won't be fun without you." Finny sighs and nudges me.

"What's really going on?" I sit upright and stare hard at the two of them. They meet my eyes unflinchingly, trying to show that they are being honest.

"We just want to have some sibling bonding." Ollie stares back.

"Try again." I narrow my eyes dangerously. They remain cool and calm regardless of my behavior. "You know, it's better I hear it from you two than from someone else. If it's bad, then it'll make it all the worse. And you don't want to make things worse." I threaten lightly. When I'm really in a bad mood, I either close myself off like usual...or I break things. The latter is very soothing and a little bit healthier for my mentality. At least, that's what I think.

"Really, there's nothing going on." Finny presses firmly.

I look at them carefully and try to think what is probably the reason. "Which girl is it this time?" What else would get them so eager for me to go?

They act surprised and shocked.  "What are you talking about?" Ollie bats his eyes innocently.

"Is it Ryan? Lizzie? Megan?" I think of my teammates who would be very eager to have both me and my brothers at the soccer party.

"Hmmmm..." I guess again when their body posture shows that those aren't the names.

"Stop." Ollie and Finny frown. "You're no fun whatsoever."

"What did they tell you?" I feel like it's a collective effort. "Didn't we agree to have platonic relationships with each other's teammates?" If things go bad, then it's awkward and tense during practices. We wouldn't be able to work as a collective unit. I honestly don't know if they have honored their part of the deal but as long as it doesn't affect me, then I don't care too much.

"Actually, I don't really care anymore. I'm going to shower. Shoo." I make them leave my room so I can shower in peace. I decide to use my bathtub for once. I rarely use it since I prefer showers over a tub, but Franny just got me a Lush bath bomb that would seem like a waste to not use. I watch as my sparkly rose scented bomb fizzles into a swirl of colors before climbing in. It smells very soothing. I sigh and relax myself as I sink into the water. I don't want to get out. My body feels so nice and warm as I sit in the tub pondering my thoughts. My thoughts keep finding its way towards Mason and Hunter. Then, it goes to my brothers and my sports life. There Is too much going on in my life right now. I just want a break.

I find myself slipping away and quickly resurface.

Word to the wise: don't fall asleep in your bathtub.

You'll probably drown.

I cough out the lukewarm rose-scented water before climbing out. I definitely feel a lot better now. I throw on one of Finny's oversized shirts before relaxing on my bed. Now, I really don't want to go out.

Knock. Knock.

"Are you done?" Finny raises his voice from outside my door.

"Yeah." I say wearily. "I'm going to stay home. You guys go on without me."

"C'mon Del! This might be the first and last time you get to go out with the four of us.  It'll be fun!" Ollie pipes up beside him.

"No." I respond.

"Please! Just this once." Al says. Al never really asks anyone anything.

"Only if you guys tell me why you're all so desperate." I huff as I swing the door open to see their puppy dog looks.

"It's a very nice surprise. Don't worry!" Finny skips happily.

"Whatever. When are we leaving?" I sigh. I'm really no good at saying no to my brothers.

"Fifteen minutes?" Ollie looks at his watch quickly.

"Twenty." I say as I dart back into my room to look for an outfit. From what I hear, parties are usually hot, sweaty, smelly, and loud. It's cold outside but once we get inside the house, it'll be too hot for a lot of clothing. I rummage around my closet and eventually find an Urban Outfitters bag.

Huh. I peek inside to see what's inside. I don't remember buying anything from there recently. I'm mildly surprised to find a black t-shirt dress with a rock band on the front. There's a deep v-cut with laces in the front to show off some cleavage. It's edgy since there's blue and white spray splatters around the rock band. I look at the graphic closely and realize the rock band is Led Zeppelin. My mother used to be a huge fan of Led Zeppelin. I figure this shirt must be Fran's since she tends to leave a lot of her stuff and old clothing here. Sometimes, she wears her clothes once and would just toss them to me since she "can't be seen wearing the same outfit twice." She can be quite privileged sometimes, but she has a great heart.

"Not bad." I say to myself as I look at my reflection. The dress comes a little above mid-thigh, a little bit more higher than I'm used to. Actually, I rarely wear dresses anymore since sports season has started. I frown as the deep v shows off a lot of my chest. I'm not as full bosomed as Fran is so it hangs a little loosely. I decide on a padded bralette which helps fill out the dress. Putting on some black strappy wedges, I feel a lot more confident with the added three inches. These wedges are my favorite since I never seem to fall or get blisters after hours of wearing them. I found them in my mother's closet a while ago when we were cleaning things and fell in love them with.

Letting my wavy long hair down, I try to flatten out the frizzy parts. After showering or bathing, my hair tends to frizz up and become wavier. I spray some hair products and eventually make do with the still frizzy parts. I'm happy my hair is curling in some right places.

Now, the hard part. Makeup. This has always been Fran's thing. She loves caking me with her makeup specialities anyways. I look at the makeup kit she gave me and rummage through the many different types of makeup. Eventually, I find my eyeliner and mascara. My almond eyes are lined with a winged eyeliner to make them pop. Unlike a lot of asians, I have double eyelids so it's easier to put on makeup.

"You take foreverrrrrrrrr." Ollie drags out the word as he leans against my bathroom door.

"You almost scared me. Then, I would have to redo my makeup." I narrow my eyes and scowl.

"How do I look?" I give a 360 twirl for him.

"Cover up your boobs." Ollie frowns.

"Oh please. I'm more covered up than half the people who are going to the party...the party you guys begged me to go to." I throw a used makeup wipe at him.

He catches it instinctively before realizing what it is.  He throws it away and shakes his hand. Overdramatic much?

"Well, since you were being so rude. This is how you compliment someone: Oh dear brother, you look very handsome..." I eye his pastel green fitted tank and fitted tan jeans. Very fitted to show off his muscles. I resist the urge to roll my eyes.

"Thank you." He flexes his biceps for me and smirks.

"Trying hard not to vomit and ruin my outfit and makeup." I grimace.

"Oh damn." Finny groands as he walks into my room and sees Ollie and me. "How the hell did we end up matching?" He sighs as the two of them eye their outfits. Finny, on the other hand, has a pastel green fitted shirt on. Turning around, he mumbles something under his breath to go change.

Al comes in with his typical black clothing: black shirt and ripped black jeans. You ready to go? His hair is slicked back and gelled for a clean look.

"Wow! Who's this handsome fellow? Is this Al?" I pretend to not recognize him. He hasn't cleaned up in a while since he's always worn out from his sports and work.

Al laughs awkwardly before saying, "You guys look great too."

And I must second that. Bless my family genetics.

Finny comes back with a pale pink long sleeve and white shorts. He looks like a frat star with his hat and sperrys.

"Let's go." Finn says. "The uber is here."

The party ends up being at the guy's soccer captain's beach house. His place is located near a lot of vacation houses. From what I can tell by the darkness of the windows, the other vacation houses are vacated. Perfect for drunk hormonal teenagers looking for some fun. I'm not really sure what to expect besides the stereotypes. Unlike my very outgoing and party-holics brothers, I rarely go out. My type of fun is drawing, stargazing, reading, and sports. Well, I have just never been the type to go about socializing with them. I guess I just never felt like one of those kids who belonged in that exclusive clique. My relations with my brothers are the only reason why people seem to like me. That and because of my soccer skills since soccer is big for our school.

"You good?" Finn pauses as he looks next to me. He notices my dazed expression. I tend to float in my thoughts a lot.

"Yeah. Just thinking."

"Thoughts are something dangerous." Ollie purses his lips and knit his eyebrows closely.

"Nah, don't worry about it too much." They worry too much about me.

"Oh shut up. It's our job to worry about you." Al rolls his eyes.

We eventually walk up to the entrance and two guys look at us. I can't make out their face until we are closer but they look very intimidating. I assume they are the bouncers. As we approach them, I gulp as they seem even larger up close. The two them could be well over 6'2" and are packed like strong linebackers. I immediately get the feeling they are football alumnus since I don't recognize them. Plus, they appear to be college age. The one of the right looks somewhat familiar. With a predominately white high school, there's not a lot of diversity so asian faces like his are memorable. Plus, he's pretty handsome.

"Yo! It's Allen!" The guy brightens and loses his mean mug as he recognizes my brother.

"Oh hell no. Dude I haven't seen you in ages." The other dude loses his serious face as soon as he sees Al. The three of them do their typical bro handshake and hug.

"And it's the twin scrubs." The first guy spots Ollie and Finny. My brothers frown at the word 'scrubs'.

"I stand corrected. Scrubs no more. Damn dudes, the two of you hit the gym hard." The first guy compliments the twins. Of course, the twins smirk cockily in response.

"And this must be Delany. I've heard so much about you." He exclaims as he sees me. I don't exactly look like my brothers but when the four of us are together, there is still a striking resemblance.

"Thanks. And you are..?" I trail off. Cute guy has heard of me.

"I'm Harry. I used to be Al's captain back when he first entered varsity. Those were the times." His eyes cloud as he reminisce to the good old days.

"I played on the football team with him back in the day too." The surfer looking dude next to Harry introduces himself. "I'm Peter."

"It's nice to meet you too." I give a small smile before awkwardly not knowing what to do. There's a pause before Peter exclaims, "Well, we are holding you guys out here long enough. I don't want to freeze your butts. Come right in." He opens the door and yells, "THE GREENES ARE HERE BITCHES!"

I cringe. One, at the loudness and obnoxiousness of this announcement. Two, at the usage of bitch.

"HELL YEAH!" We hear a chorus of excited cheers as people happily greet us. Well, greet my brothers since I'm such an antisocial butterfly. The temperature increases dramatically as I step inside. I find myself wanting to take off my clothes but then realizing I only have a dress on.

Immediately, a lot of people surround my brothers and I find myself left alone. Al, Finny, and Ollie are dragged away by their peers as I look around for someone familiar. I don't look for too long before spotting some of my teammates.

"NO WAYYYYYY." My teammate Christy sees me. Her brown eyes grow wider in surprise as she tumbles towards me. She must have been here for a while by the level of her intoxication.

"IT'S DEEEEEEEEE." She hugs me tightly and smacks a fat kiss on my lips. The alcohol on her breath is pretty strong as she slurs my name. I freeze awkwardly but Christy doesn't act like it fazes her. I look behind her and see three more of my teammates who are grinning widely and laughing.

"She's very affectionate when drunk." Lindsey grins.

"Very affectionate." Emily nods as Christy comes and hugs Lindsey tightly.

"You two...aree wayyyyy too sober. Let'sss drankkkk." Christy frowns as she looks at Emily and Lindsey.

"Now that a completely sober Delany is here....how about you drink with her?" Emily smirks as Christy turns around and looks at me mischievously.

OH HELL TO THE NAH.

I back away as Christy walks towards me with an evil grin. Emily and Lindsey follow suit.

"That's peer pressure. Very unfair!" As the three of them grab my wrists towards the kitchen. For a second, I admire the very lavish and beautiful architecture and interior design of the vacation home before my brain picks up the gross atmosphere. There's a couple groping each other in the corner of the room. Do they think that the corner is going to hide that? There's Al playing beer pong against some of his football players. They are getting really rowdy. Then, we have my dumbass twins competing against each other for their keg stand. Their friends record the keg stand as some of the hold onto the twins' ankles. Then, I'm pulled into the kitchen.

"GUESSSS WHO'S HEREEEE GUYSSSS!" Christy screams a bit too excitedly. Her voice carries loud enough over the music and conversations inside the kitchen. Everyone turns to look at us and I feel very very uncomfortable.

"SHOTS! SHOTS! SHOTS!" Lindsey screams. Everyone raises their alcohol to the air and cheers.

I'm given some liquid in a cup. I smell it, expecting it to smell very strongly of alcohol. Surprisingly, it smells very sweet like juice.

"TO DELANYYY MY FAVORITE PERSON IN THE WHOLE WORLD!"  Christy exaggerates. Everyone cheers once again even though I've probably never talked to any of them in my life.

I finish the cup surprisingly fast. It's really smooth and tastes really nice. I can barely taste the alcohol.

"What's in this?" I ask Lindsey.

"A lot of stuff." Lindsey grins. "Have some more!" She pours some more from the gatorade gallon dispensers. There's six of them lined on the kitchen table. Three belong to the girls and three belong to the guy's soccer team.

"Don't worry!" Emily pats me on the back as she sees me glancing at the juice. "The girls made the juice. You'll be fine!"

"C'mon D. Relax!!! You always have your panties knotted in a twist!" Lindsey raises her voice above the loud noises. "Wait, is that the phrase?"

"Oh well." She grins. "Cheers!"

Fuck it. I grin. I down the second, or was it third cup? My teammates keep pouring the drink and it's pretty addicting. I find myself letting go and I feel good.

I feel like I haven't been this relaxed in ages. I feel, dare I say, happy? I find myself socializing with my teammates a lot more than usual. There's at least ten of us all crowded around the kitchen table.

"Is this an athlete party or something?" I say when I notice a lot of the people here I recognize from different sports team.

"Yep and the ones we like." Christy says bluntly and she skips around to find someone. She comes back and pulls my wrist towards the pool outside. There's a lot of space next to the pool and people are dancing there. The DJ is playing some great music with a lot of bass.

"LET'S DANCE!" Christy leads the way to the dance floor. Lindsey, Emily and Christy all come out with me to dance. The four of us dance and let loose. I am honestly having so much fun that I forget about my insecurities and worries. I have always loved dancing but I stopped once I became more competitive in soccer. I mostly did hip hop when I was little though.

"Oh myyyy gawwd." Emily giggles hysterically as Christy finds some dude on the soccer team to dance with. "We have kids here!" Emily covers my eyes as Christy gets starts dancing a little bit dirty with him.

I'm slightly mortified since sober me could not grind on a guy. It seems so sexual and intimate. But I'm not sober right now! I find myself giggling along with Emily.

"He's cute!" I blurt out and wink at Christy. Then, I pull Lindsey and Emily a little to the side to continue dancing so Christy has some alone time. I'm a very smart wing man-woman. Woman-man? Wingwoman!

The three of us have a lot of fun grooving, shaking, body rolling, and just enjoying ourselves. I don't know how long we are dancing, but I take a break to find some water.

Finding water is so hard. Where's the water? I stumble a little.

"Darn. Shouldn't have worn these." I frown at the strappy things on my ankles. I tried to take them off but they are a lot harder to take off than I thought it would be. I pout as I fail to take off my shoes. I give up and decide to try to continue walking.

And I almost puff out my chest in pride when I make it to the DJ in one piece. Next to the DJ there's a small bar.

"Wan watuh pwease." I order. The cute guy bartending smiles. "Sowwy. One watuh please." I say again, much more deliberately. Why are my words funny sounding?

Cute bartender has sparkly eyes as he looks at me. Why is everyone cute today?

"Thank youuu." I grin happily as he gives me a cup of iced water. I sip on it, marveling at the wonderful coolness. It tastes awesomely.

I find myself looking to the right.

"Oh." I'm startled when I see Hunter make eye contact with me. The darn cup slips through my fingers. I pout as I watch the cup spill on my feet.

"Awwww." I really liked the water. I try to bend down to grab it but I keep missing the cup.

"Whoaaaa." I feel myself fall off balance to the right. Uh oh. I gulp and close my eyes.  This gonna hurttttt.

But it doesn't. Instead, someone catches me. I look up and see Hunter.

"My knight and shining armor." The words come right out. I cover my mouth in surprise. "I didn't want to say that. My bad." I realize I'm still in his arms as he holds me closely.

"Thank you." I prop myself up just barely. He smelled really good though. Plus, we could have kissed.

Wait, do I want to kiss him?

"You look like you're having a lot of fun!" Hunter grins. It really lights up his face.

"Yes! Are you?" I get closer so we can hear each other.

He nods.

"Did ya drink? How long ya been here?" I ask.

"A couple of beer and some shots of whiskey. I think I arrived shortly after you." He holds up a beer in his hand.

"You don't look drunk." I frown at his soberness.

"I'm at a good level."

"Get on a better level like me!" I laugh as I pull him to the kitchen to take more shots.

"I think we can slow down just a little." He laughs.

"Nooooo." I pout. "One more?"

He looks at me for a long second before saying, "Nah. I think you're at a good level."

"No, I want more." I say.

"How about I'll take this one for you?" He suggests after he sees my stubbornness.

"Oh-kay." I bob my head up and down. I think that's a good deal.

"Whoa." He downs the two shots smoothly without chaser. "You're so amazing."

"Thanks." He laughs.

"There you are!"Emily spots me. She grabs my wrist once more and pulls me toward the dance floor. I find myself also pulling Hunter's wrist.

"This is Hunter. Hunter meet Emrily." I introduce them to each other.

"Hi. I'M EMILY!" She says over the bass of the music. They shake hands before Emily disappears again.

Huh.

I shrug. "Do you dance?" I ask Hunter. He points to his ear as if he can't hear me.

"Do you dance?" I lean closely to his ear.

"Just a little. Did some hip hop as a hobby a long time ago." Hunter responds as he yells closely to my ear. His breath tickles my ear so I cup it and squirm.

"Me too! Let me see those moves!"

And he's a really good dancer. It's really fun. We face each other and groove to the music as we have fun.

"Do those hurt?" He points to my wedges.

I shake my head. I keep stumbling though. It's at the point where he's holding my hand so I don't stumble.

I don't know how long we are dancing for but eventually I find the space between us diminishing. A lot of people are coming out because it's getting to hot inside. The dance floor has increased as more people start dancing together.

Hunter and I end up swaying to the music closely together. His strong arms are wrapped tightly around my waist as I wrap mine around his neck. It's really nice.

And then it all comes to an end when someone comes barreling towards us.

"What the hell?" I mutter confused. I'm thrown against the crowd who catch me before I fall. I thank them before looking at the scene.

Two guys are fighting.

It takes me a little long to comprehend who's fighting.

"MASON!"  I scramble to get up.

"FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!" The drunk crowd starts jeering. I try to get through them to get to Mason and Hunter but they are all too bloodthirsty and eager to see the fight to let me in.

To be continued.

This is a really long chapter sooooo :P

A/N

I'm going to address a lot of thing. Underage drinking is illegal. It's illegal for a reason. There are reasons such as mental and physical health risks that might occur to do such consumption.   Please remember there are many dangers when consuming alcohol and other drugs. In addition, it's not "cool" when you're partying in high school. It seems like that's what the cool kids do sometimes and you want to also be part of the crowd. When you partake in activities, remember that there are always consequences or at least be aware. Also, peer pressure is definitely present in most drinking situations. It is really hard to say no when everyone, your closest friends even, are persuading you and coaxing you. Such is a scenarios here where Delany faced peer pressure! It doesn't even seem like peer pressure, but she didn't really want to drink. Yet, all her friends were trying to do it so she didn't want to seem like she wasn't fun!

Plus, there's the fact that as Delany kept drinking her thoughts seemed to get messy. She couldn't think as well. Your thinking and actions become sloppy after the first sip!! Be careful <3

Thank you for reading!

Hope you enjoyed <3

Till the next update in a week or two.

Love,

Lystra
