Jimin walked out of the class as soon as the bell rang. His last class, AP World History, was absolutely boring and he wanted nothing more than to go home and eat some of Seokjins delicious food.

Before he could completely exit the building though, his friend Hoseok was waiting for him near the front doors of the school.

"Jimin!" He waved at the boy. Jimin smiled at him, signalling for him to walk next to him.

Jung Hoseok, one of the people Jimin chooses to keep as a friend in the human world.

"What's up?" He asked.

"The us'. The bio teacher got tired by the end of the day so we all just goofed around. How about you?"

"The same as always." Jimin sighed. "I just want to go home." Home as in back to his kingdom. He was truly getting tired of this life. And before you question, he's now a senior in high school, he's lived long enough on land to know how tiring it is.

Senior year doesn't require much work, acedemically, but it still manages to make Jimin go crazy everyday he's in the school building. He doesn't understand why he needs to be there, learning stuff that he doesn't need to know. It's all stupid shit anyway, he'll never use calculus in real life. Plus, he's superior in smarts so everything comes easy to him. He'll totally be valedictorian.

Regardless, he needs to keep up his act. So he pulls through.

"So do I. This high school life just ain't it." Hoseok agreed, not catching Jimins double entendre.

"It really isn't."

Jimin almost made it to his car when a skateboarder rode past him, almost hitting him. It caused the boarder to get off balance and they tripped off the board, but didn't fall.

"Hey! Watch where you're-" Jimin stopped speaking immediately when he saw who the person was. "M-Min Yoongi?!" He spoke in a soft whisper.

That's right. Min Yoongi. Badass, skateboarder, musician, and Jimins dream guy.

The boy's way of taking no crap is what Jimin admired about him, that and his beautiful slitted eyes that resembled a fox's.

Min Yoongi was the guy everyone wanted but couldn't have, he's way too focused on his craft to have anyone get in his way. Even if it means no relationships, no one has been able to break his barriers yet.

"Sorry for almost hitting you. With people walking everywhere it's hard to ride a straight path." The blonde explained, dazzling Jimin with his deep voice.

"No problem! It's totally not a problem at all! Right Hobi?!" He nervously turned to Hoseok for a way out, which he thankfully provided.

"Uh, yeah! We get it! Narrow ways, it's hard to keep track of so many people while skating." He smiled, blinding the eldest of the three.

"Ok then." He said softly before raising a hand and skating away. Jimin almost fainted.

"Oh my gosh Hobi! That was Min Yoongi! He talked to me!" He said while unlocking his car.

"I know. I was here." He spoke, walking over to Jimins passenger seat.

"And what did you think you're doing?" He asked as Hoseok opened the door and threw his backpack in.

"I don't feel like walking home."

Jimin just sighed and chuckled at his friend, who he soon dropped off at his house before heading to his.

Jimin lived in a little house off the coast of Busan with his caretaker Seokjin.

They didn't live right next to the ocean, but close enough for Jimin to be able to leave immediately when the time comes. Sometimes the prince stares out the window, looking out to the sea in hopes of people emerging from the deep to retrieve him. Then he realizes that 1, it wouldn't be in broad daylight, and 2, that they wouldn't come directly from the sea, but from the cave pool which is farther down the beach. It saddened him, but then he remembered that he will eventually return home when the war is over.

Jimin opened the door to their house, yelling that he's home and dropping his keys in a little bowl on a table next to the door.

Seokjin heard him and ran down the stairs to meet the boy.

"Hey Min, how was your day?" He hugged the younger.

"It was fine I guess, same as all the others."

"You're probably hungry, let me go start dinner."

"Ok." Jimin answered while Jin headed to the kitchen. He himself headed to his room upstairs where he jumped onto his bed and sighed.

Human life is so boring.

I can relate.

He lay there for a while just staring at the ceiling before Jin called him back downstairs, getting up immediately and heading down.

"Yes?" He asked, sitting by the counter.

"Jimin, I've been thinking..." As soon as he started Jimin knew it wouldn't be good.

"What about?" He asked, cautiously.

"About next year."

"What about it?"

"What do you plan to do next year? After school."

"I don't know, I was hoping that we would be gone by then." Jimin answered. "Why?"

"Because, well, and don't take this the wrong way, but- we don't know when the war will end. Most importantly, we don't know if our kingdom will win. So I wanted you to prepare in case we're not gone by the end of the school year." Jin introduced, trying not to phrase it in a bad way.

"What are you trying to say?" Jin sighed before looking straight into the boy's eyes.

"You should start applying to colleges Jimin."

"What?" He asked, eyes wide.

"You've always been so focused on going back home. And I don't blame you, I want to go back too but, maybe it's time to start preparing for the worst."

"And what is that?"

"Possibly staying for longer than expected." Jin sighed, he knew Jimin wouldn't like the idea.

"I-" Jimin has always felt a little out of place. Obviously. But if he goes to college, with more people, he's really gonna feel out of place then, talk about a nightmare. "College?"

"Jimin, you're super smart, people are already contacting you for full ride scholarships! I'm saying that we need a back up plan if we're not going to be leaving soon. And the next step in human life is young adulthood, at this stage people usually go to college after high school."

"But-" He paused midsentence, knowing the Seokjin was right, and that he needed to do something to pass the time on land. "Do I really have to do more school?! Are you sure there aren't any other options?" He desperately asked, there's no real reason for him going to college, he doesn't have a dream career, he won't use any of it for when he's under the sea again, so why must he go?

"I mean, you could get a job, but I didn't think that you would like that idea."

"I hate the idea of learning more about what I don't need to know." He sighed, conflicted about what to do.

"What if you major in something you should know?" Seokjin suggested, causing Jimin to look up in confusion.

"What do you mean?"

"Marine biology? The study of underwater animals, maybe you could try that?" He mentioned before turning to continue his previous actions.

"Maybe." He answered. He really didn't want to think that the war would continue after the summer, I mean, it's been 8 years! Why is it taking so long to find and end the rebellious group of mer?

Jimin knows that if he were king he would make it a priority to catch the group, but unfortunately, he has to wait til the guards come to get him to even swim into the kingdom, let alone reign over it. He sighed for the millionth time, having these thoughts always messed with him.

"Don't sigh Jimin, it's just a plan B. Nothing definite." Seokjin spoke, still not facing the boy.

"I'm gonna go do my homework." He quietly said before getting out his chair and walking up the stairs to his room. Once inside, his eyes immediately landed on the necklace he kept on a holder on his dresser. It had a charm the shape of an oyster hanging off the center. Jimin smiled at it before looking distantly out of his window and out to the sea.

"8 years." He mumbled, soon grabbing his backpack and getting out the materials he needed to do his homework.

"When will I be done with this life?"
