The Society Squad

The wind blew against my face,

the smell of the city was filled with all sorts of different smells.

Of course some good, some bad

What I smelled the most out of all the smells was,

the smell of the bakeries,

Oh how I loved the smell of all of the bakeries combined :)

Rich, moist, warm, fresh baked cinnamon rolls,

with the strong stench of freshly brewed coffee.

But most of all, what I loved the most was,

I felt free,

I was free from the cage I was trapped in for years.

I was finally free.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We took a sharp turn towards a wealthy looking neighborhood.

Well,

at least better looking than where I was living. ;)

He pulled up towards a multi-colored brown two story house,

turned off his motorcycle,

and walked me into his house.

"I apologize for not properly introducing myself to you, My name is Dylan. I live here with 2 of my best friends, and also have some similar abilities like you do, That's one of the reasons why I brought you here with me, I think you'd make a great team member for our squad!

I gasped in shock, but still shook his hand, making myself more polite

"Hi, I'm Caitlin..."

I couldn't stop myself from smiling, but continued to talk.

"Do you really have abilities like I do? I thought I was the only one!"

"Nope! You're not the only one! Me and my friends are gifted with abilities like you are too! Here lets go to the dining room to talk more deeply into this, you'll understand EVERYTHING once I tell you, trust me!"

"Oh, Okay!"

I followed him to the dining room, everything was so eloquent, fancy, organized

I couldn't help but admire everything I went by.

Dylan pulled up a chair for me to sit in and grabbed a chair across from me to sit in.

Just then Dylan yelled

"ALEXANDRA! SCOTT! I have someone I'd like you to meet!!!"

a soft, nice natured voice came from the distance

"WE'RE COMING!"

Two people came rushing into the dining room area and greeted me the minute they saw me.

"Why, Hello! My name is Alexandra and this is my Boyfriend, Scott! Nice to meet you!"

"Hi, I'm Caitlin! Nice to meet you."

They both shook my hand quickly before sitting down on the side Dylan sat on.

Dylan started a conversation before anything became too awkward.

"Well, Now you know who Alexandra and Scott are, I'd like to tell you a little more information about what I was talking to you about."

"Oh, yes, right!"

"In 3rd grade, Alexandra, Scott, and I all realized our powers that we were gifted with and began to notice that we could actually use them to help people in need or who need our help! We all agreed on forming a team called "The Society Squad" to help defeat the crime and save the people of California who need our help! After getting all that done, we knew we couldn't just go out into the outside world without knowing how to use our powers, so we began training each other and became really, really , really powerful as a team"

"Of course, that took us years, Dylan. Don't forget that" Scott Chimed in.

"All those years paid off though, right?!"

Alexandra and Scott nodded in agreement

"Ha, That's what I thought."

Dylan playfully hit Scott right in the shoulder.

"Anyways Caitlin, to get to the point, I would love for you to join us, seeing you be able to do a variety of different abilities makes you special and can really help us out!"

Did he just say I was special?

I COULDN'T HELP BUT FANGIRL INSIDE

OMG!

"Yes! Yes! Yes! I would LOVE to join your group! When do I begin training?"

"We train on Sundays, just before the week starts"

"Today's Saturday, right?"

"Yup! So just make yourself at home and Alexandra which room will Caitlin sleep in?"

Alexandra replied like she already rehearsed this question a million times.

Maybe she was just good at answering and responding to questions,

Unlike me being the awkward one.

"First room on your left upstairs"

She gave me the biggest smile anyone has ever given me.

"Oh okay, thank you!"

I had my little drawstring backpack along with me too and decided to head up stairs to quickly unpack.

As I turned around to make my way upstairs, Dylan stopped me again in my tracks.

"Wait!"

"Yeah" I replied with a bright face

"I forgot to ask you, what brought you to my shop, Caitlin?"

"Well... um.... "

Should I lie?

Should I be honest and tell him everything that happened to lead up to this?

I decided it would be best to be honest than lie.

Honesty is the best policy, right?

"My mom died, and my dad went missing, So me and my sister got put in an orphanage, and once the people who owned the facility found out my ability they FREAKED out and decided to trap me in the basement, so I wouldn't harm anyone. After living in there for almost a decade, alone, depressed, unsocial, I decided to make a big escape after recently learning that new trick I showed you, thinking it would help me escape easier."

I showed a smile,

only to hide my pain inside.

"What happened to your sister? Shouldn't she be with you?" Alexandra asked

"She got adopted last December, and I um.."

I could feel the rush of tears travel through my body to my eyes.

"Never saw her again."

My smile began to fade and got a little wobbly, but not to the point where it was noticeable,

at least I thought in my mind.

I could see the sympathy in all of their eyes for me,

"You guys don't have to feel bad for me, honestly, I'm sort of over it.... I'm going to go set my things up in my room, thank you for everything!"

"No problem, if you need anything-"

Dylan put his hand on my shoulder

"just give us a call" he gave me a cute small smile telling me everything was going to be okay.

I smiled once again.

"I will"

I rushed myself upstairs, I couldn't be the center of attention anymore, for now.

I ran inside my room and slowly closed the door behind me.

As soon as the door closed, I made sure to lock it.

I felt my body drop as it slid down the door.

I sat there, with my eyes full of tears.

They finally overflowed with water in my eyes and dripped down my face,

slowly,

then it went down, faster

faster,

and faster.

With every tear drop falling on the floor, I heard crackling beneath me.

I picked myself up and threw my body on the bed.

I mentally can't deal with everything thats happened to me.

It's hard.

It really is hard.

At least I get a new beginning,

starting tomorrow.
