Marinette

As soon as Marinette went home, she removed all of Adrien's photos and posters she decorated all over her wall. She stuffed all of them inside a box. Just in case if someone peeked in her trashcan.

Marinette slid it the 'Forbidden Box of That Hot Dude Who Broke My Heart', which she declared that was its name from now on, under her bed.

She went over her computer and changed her desktop screen into a new one. A random picture of her family which she searched through her files.

The stab wound in her heart from the heartbreak was all she felt today. It went even deeper when absolutely everything reminded her about Adrien.

She wanted to forget about him.

She wanted to have amnesia by the time she wakes up tomorrow.

She wanted to fly away from this place and never see him ever again.

But sadly, the world fucking hates her and she doesn't have the money to buy a spaceship.

Marinette sighed in frustration, grabbing a pillow from her bed and burying her face into it. She began to wonder how long will she hold her breath until she could-

"Marinette . . . " Tikki's voice cut off her train of thought. "Are you alright?"

Marinette removed the soft plush from her face to see her kwami right in front of her.

Our heroine gave out a half-hearted laugh.

It was funny that question had been repeated over and over today that it seemed to be the question of the year.

Her friends and family asked her that this morning, worried why she was acting strange the other day.

As usual she answered in the same tone, the same smile and the same answer. Marinette hid her face under a mask.

"Tikki, I'm okay."

That's probably the greatest bullshittiest lie ever told on earth.

* * *

Marinette woke up in a jolt as she heard a tap on her window. She saw a familiar silhouette waving at her, showing off a dazzling bright Cheshire smile.

"Chat . . . ?" she inched the blanket towards Tikki to block her from his eyes.

Marinette walked towards her window to see the feline hero gesturing her to go up her balcony.

Confused and curious, she opened the trap door to the destined location. As soon as she closed it behind her, Chat hopped on the railing, crouching down in a cat-like position.

"Wonderful evening, Ms. Dupain-Cheng." he said in his signature cocky smile. "Nice shirt by the way."

Marinette looked down on her choice of night wear. It was a baggy and shapeless white T-shirt with a small logo of a certain fandom stitched into it paired up with black cycling shorts.

Why did I wear this? Marinette thought blushing like a cherry, noticing she was showing off too much of her legs.

"W-what are you doing here, Chat?" she stammered, crossing her arms in embarrassment as she hopes that he wasn't looking at her chest.

"I'm here to hang out, Princess."

There was a slight pause before Marinette rolled her blue orbs at him. "Sorry, I don't hang out with strays."

"Meowch. Why do you hurt me so, my dear sweet Marinette?" his black gloved hand held his chest, feigning hurt as Marinette felt her face flush, embarrassed and flustered that he called her sweet.

I mean, who wouldn't?

"Gog, I don't have time for this. I have class tomorrow." Marinette groaned in frustration.

Chat Noir blinked his neon green feline eyes and tilted his head in confusion, furrowing his eyebrows. "Isn't it Saturday tomorrow?"

Marinette face palmed, irritated. "Fine. What do you want?"

"Well, I just want to say tonight is your lucky night, Princess." Chat balanced himself up in the railing and did a gentlemanly bow. "You get to hang out with the handsome Chat Noir."

The raven haired girl released a small scoff. Not trying to be a fucking bitch like Chloe, but like many people, Marinette doesn't like when someone interrupted her sleep. Interrupting one's sleep will turn you into an a-hole.

"Sorry. I don't hang out with strays." she flipped her hair that had been freed from their usual pigtail form.

When she was about to say 'sayonara' to her partner, Chat Noir spoke. "If you actually knew me under the mask, I'm actually an aristo-cat."

Marinette released a snicker. "So you drive around with your limousines with your buff body guard who looks like a gorilla to your fancy ass mansion?"

Chat rolled his eyes. "Wow, who made you a bitch today?"

"Arf, arf, motherfucker."

They glared at each other. The green challenges the blue, like the ocean waves colliding with earthly green, drowning it all in a healthy mixture of life.

Beautiful.

Tranquil.

The blue felt it self melting against the green's. The spell has broken.

Then they laughed like the carefree teenagers they are.

"Okay, that argument was stupid." Chat wiped an imaginary tear underneath his eyes.

"Agreed." Marinette stifled a giggle.

"So okay then. Grab some blankets and pillows and let's have a slumber party."

Marinette rolled her eyes for the hundredth time of the day. "Fiiiiiiiine. Come on in, kitty."

Chat strolled inside with her as she headed her way downstairs. "Oi, where you going?"

"Food. A sleepover with no food is a boring one." Marinette smirked as she continued down the steps.

Adrien

"I love food." Chat wiped an imaginary tear as he chewed down a croissant. "I will marry it someday."

After Marinette fetched the snacks and all, they both agreed to watch a movie from her computer. The genre Chat Noir wanted her to get was action, preferably with superheroes since he had graced her with his fabulous presence. The raven haired girl rolled her eyes at that one, but nevertheless, gave in to his request.

Now there she was fishing into her cabinet full of CDs for a good movie as Chat sat at one of her office chairs, eating most of their snacks that were meant for both of them.

Well, you can't blame Chat for being greedy with the food. He was supposed to be a model strict diet so he doesn't get to eat much as Adrien.

Marinette scoffed about his remark. "Sadly someone has to make your bride-to-be. And that someone is me."

A pause of silence came from Chat as he thought about it for a while.

"Then I'll marry you instead." the words spilled out his mouth before he could process what he could say.

Welp, that sounded wrong. Chat thought as he continued to fill his stomach.

Marinette didn't seem to mind the comment since she laughed it off. "You wish, kitty." she said between giggles. "As if I'll accept your engagement ring."

"Meowch, what a painful scratch from you, Princess." Chat laughed along.

The feline hero glanced at her computer screen to see the Dupain-Cheng family, smiling widely at the screen as the posed in front of the Eiffel Tower. Marinette was younger in the picture around eight or so.

"Nice pic." Chat munched on, scanning each of their faces.

Especially Marinette. Her younger self looked so happy unlike his childhood-turned-nightmare.

Chat turned back to Marinette and felt the air turned awkward. Maybe I should figure out why she was acting so strange today. He thought to himself. Like how distant she looked and so. But I need to be cautious of my words, I don't want to hint her that I'm Adrien and all that.

"So," Chat began, pausing briefly before continuing with his words. "How was school today?"

Our feline hero did an internal face palm. I sounded like a nosy parent.

Marinette paused from her search as he watched her back straightened and her shoulders tense. "It was okay, I guess."

Chat curled his lips into an upsetting frown. She was lying and he knew it. She's beginning to build barriers like his father did when his mother disappeared from their lives.

He couldn't let that happen.

Chat can't bear the thought of someone who he deeply cares about starts to become distant with him.

"You're lying." he accused, chomping down into the croissant that he was holding. "T'll m'h wha's w'ong."

That was the muffled version of the statement: "Tell me what's wrong."

Marinette clenched and unclenched her hands nervously. "It's none of your business, Chat! It was peachy, okay? Just. Stop."

Silence ruled once again within the air between them, separating them from each other like a running river.

"I just want to help, Mari." Chat said softly.

No reply. Just a frustrated scowl from Marinette.

"Is this about the jerk who broke your heart?"

Again, the raven haired girl didn't say anything, staring at the floor with her sad Lapiz Lazuli eyes, but the aura around her screamed 'yes'.

Chat sighed, running his hand through his already messy blond hair. He wanted her to forget about him.

Help her heal.

Help her stand up from where she had fallen.

I want to help you.

If he could just at least make her feel better by letting Marinette punching the dude across the face if he were here.

Suddenly, an idea struck him to the ground.

That's it.

"Hey, Princess. I want to play a game." he grinned widely, putting down the half-eaten croissant. "Let's role-play."

Marinette shot him a confused look, but remained silent.

"Pretend I'm the prick who hurt your feelings." he gestured himself. "And you are yourself."

"But I am myself." she deadpanned.

"Shut it your mouth, Ms. Sass. I'm talking to Marinette at the moment."

Marinette rolled her eyes at this for the hundredth time this night but told him to continue. "Go on."
"And I want you to vent out all the things you want to say to him right now."

With those words, the annoyance in her face turned to surprise. "Wh-what?! I-I-I d-don't want to reveal his name to you!" she stammered uncontrollably, blushing like a raging fire. "Wh-what i-i-i-if you go t-t-to m-m-m-my s-school a-and you m-might s-slip out m-my crush's n-n-n-n-name?! Or—"

Chat rolled the office chair towards her as he sat on it backwards. He held her shoulders as if saying 'calm down'. "Look. Just use a code name of something. Call him Andrew or Jack."

The raven haired girl puffed her cheeks. She looked embarrassed about this. For a second there, Chat thought to dump the idea away but Marinette manage to stutter out an 'okay'.

Chat smiled. This time he didn't show a flirtatious or a cocky one.

This was a genuine one.

He watched her shoulders relax as she released a small exhale.

"Eridan," Marinette said in a shaky voice. "From the moment you showed me that you have a heart of gold, I had fallen deeply love you."

Her blush deepened as she glanced at Chat as if asking him if she should continue. The cat nodded encouragingly.

"But I know you don't love me. I know you love someone else. It's not surprising actually. Why would you love someone like me?" he watch her clench her fist as she trembles slightly. "I overheard you talking about how perfect your crush is. The perfection you can't see in me. I am not her and she isn't me. I want to hate you so bad right now. I mean, you just literally broke my heart into tiny little pieces. Wait, scratch that. YOU STOLE MY SOUL FROM ME AND NEVER GAVE IT BACK."

Drips of tears fell down from her face as she tried to stop trembling violently, hugging herself tightly. She looked like she was a glass China doll who was afraid to break into pieces.

"But what ever I do, I just can't. I still fucking love you. Can't you believe that?!" she laughed, humorlessly. "Ad—Eridan. I wish I could hate you. I hate that I can't hate you. I hate the fact that I love you too much to let you go. It hurts so much. It hurts . . ."

Marinette broke down into sniffles and sobs. Chat stood up and hugged her. "Shhh, don't cry." he papped her head softly like a good friend he was.

He felt Marinette's hands clutched his leather chest as she buried her face into it. He rested his chin on the top of her head, continuing to shush and pat her.

They were like that for a moment until she stopped trembling, wiping her tears and stifling the sobs from her mouth as she pulled away from him. Chat mentally pouted in his head because he felt cozy by just hugging the raven-haired girl.

"Since I am pretending to be this so-called Eridan, you can punch me in the gut if you want." Chat smiled. Marinette shook her head, trying to wipe the last of her tears away. "Come on, it won't hurt. I insist. This is part of the venting out."

She paused for a moment, then punching him on the chest where his heart was supposed to be.

"Pft, that was a weak punch, Princess." Chat laughed.

Marinette laughed along with him. "Sorry, I'm not Saitama."

They were like this throughout the sleepover. The duo watched RomComs, cartoons and Marvel movies. Chat mostly ate the food to which where Marinette tackled him to the ground wrestling for the last piece of croissant. They talked about their lives, avoiding the part about Marinette's crush who they have dubbed as 'Eridan'.

As they lay on the floor, staring at the ceiling of Marinette's room, Chat glanced at her. "Are you okay now?"

"At the moment, yeah." Marinette looked deep into his eyes once more.

"I'm okay."

This time she wasn't lying.

Homestuck has ended and I currently feel emotionally unstable (I have been crying several times already after seeing the final act. And I am not fucking exaggerating).

Please do not pressure me to do the next upd8 because I am probably in the corner of my room figuring out what am I supposed to do with my fucking life.

I am dead serious.

(But it's okay to ask me anything else about the book except spoilers of course)
