Till we meet again

Life, with all its unpredictable ups and downs, weaves a tapestry of moments that can bring both joy and sorrow. But for the first time in what seemed like an eternity, you found yourself dancing on its brighter side, looking promising and joyful.

From the moment you and Hoseok revealed your deepest feelings of love, many burdens felt like had disappeared from your heart. The world appeared to be knitting a vibrant coat of happiness for you as you spent the night together, surrounded by the warmth of friends, sharing laughter over silly conversations and a delightful dinner.

Jake, in his ever-forgiving nature, quickly resumed his comfortable demeanour, erasing any need for you to seek his forgiveness for your earlier abruptness. That was one of the aspects you cherished most about your friendship with him—the absence of grudges in his heart.

The following day was an exhilarating burst of joy, as Hoseok extended an invitation to embark on an adventure at a thrilling amusement park. From dawn till dusk, you revelled in the excitement of trying new games, embracing unfamiliar experiences, and surrendering yourself to carefree abandon. Skipping lectures without a trace of worry and enjoying the freedom of carelessly navigating the expenses of life, you couldn't help but find countless smiles etching across your face.

Yet, as the sun set on another day, and Hoseok clasped your hand in his, a flicker of unease began to dance within you. The hard lessons life had taught you whispered cautionary tales of vigilance during times when everything appeared to be sailing too smoothly.

"Guys, go ahead without us. I and Y/N have somewhere to be." Hoseok urged the rest to continue towards the restaurant he had arranged for them to have a lovely dinner.

"Ohooo, private things~" They didn't miss the chance to start teasing you, making you yell at them to get going quickly, a thing that just made you all start laughing as they did so.

"I will see you at home Y/N~" Yukio waved at you as she was walking away and you waved back, feeling slightly embarrassed but also excited to get to know where Hoseok was planning to take you.

"So...what plans do you have?" You turned around and questioned him and he just flashed you a smile before he unexpectedly invaded your body, and before you know it, you found yourself standing at a hill full of greenery and a nice view of the whole city. A light wind was blowing by that made you leave a soft exhale before a smile reached your lips and you approached further at the wooden fence that lay ahead, just so you could take in the breathtaking sight a bit better.

"This feels so nice." You murmured softly then you turned around to look towards Hoseok who stood there with a single daisy flower in his hand.

You smiled more as you skipped your steps back to him and he looked at you endearingly as he could hear your thoughts of admiration towards that small flower that you found pretty.

"Can I have it?" You questioned him, even though in your mind you were already sure that it was meant for you.

"Mhhh no." He replied making your smile fall instantly.

"What? Why would you keep a flower? It's obviously for me. Give it to me." You ordered him and he just allowed one of his tails to appear and get hold of the flower, only to raise it so far above you that there was no chance of you ever getting it.

"Yah! How can you be so petty! You think I can't take it?" You allowed your gaze to turn stern and he gave you a smug look before he spoke those fueling words.

"You are certainly incapable of reaching it." Words that made you want to prove him wrong instantly so you approached him more and started trying to lower his tail to get it but that only made him start laughing.

"Seriously...why do you have to annoy me..." You uttered as you gave up on that approach and started jumping to catch it, but that only resulted in you getting tired and breathing heavily with your hands resting on your knees, and he just observed you with utter delight.

"You are enjoying this a bit too much." You complained as you straighten your posture and hit him on his belly, making home ford slightly but still he remained laughing.

"Fine...I don't want the flower, you can keep it...Just know though that this is no way to treat a lady." You turned your back to him and tried to walk back towards the fence but another tail of his, got wrapped around your waist and it pulled you back, right onto his embrace.

He allowed his arm to wrap around you as his tail withdrew itself, then the other tail, appeared from above, bringing that flower to a height you could reach.

"Take it, It's a flower that will never wither. For as long as you love me, it will live." He whispered by your ear while he rested his head on your shoulder, pulling you fully in his warm back hug, while you just reached out your hand and secured the flower in your possession.

"Even though I won't." He added after a pause he gave to you and to his own self.

Your eyes slightly fell as you kept looking at the flower and listening to him and a bitter smile rose on your lips before you turned around to face him.

"You know...I knew something was going on...the seal has two days that have not awakened even though you are right here and you kept insisting on wanting to pass time with everyone...Also, I knew that once you find someone you love, your portal will open..." You went on, but you couldn't help but halt your tongue as you felt like your voice was about to crack. "Can't you...not go?"

He smiled at your request and then brought his hand to caress your hair.

"I won't go. I will stay by your side till my last breath."He declared.

"How far away are we from that last breath you are talking about?" Curiosity filled your eyes as you locked onto his gaze, only for him to quickly divert his eyes, prompting you to reach out and gently draw his hand away.

"Tell me...please." Upon facing your tender eyes, he found it difficult to not give you what you were demanding.

"Two days or so but I have made up my mind. I wanna live some more moments loving you. They are far more important than any immortality I could have in the spirit world." he confessed, his voice filled with warmth as he clasped your hand, gazing fondly upon your eyes.

"I have found my home and it's you so please, hold me for as long as I can last." He requested and you shove yourself in his chest, wrapping your arms around him tightly, enveloping him in a tight embrace that conveyed the depth of your emotions. In that silent exchange, he embraced you back, understanding the multitude of emotions coursing through your being.

"Is there no other way...maybe...maybe..." You uttered as you pulled back to face him "It would be better for you to return to the spirit realm and who knows someday I could make it there too. And we could meet again."

'Y/N, human souls don't usually end up in the spirit realm and I have no idea what it takes to be sent there. I have no idea how I made it there myself." He admitted but you refused to let go of that idea for it appeared to be the only hope you could hang on, to see him again.

"I will figure it out somehow. I have many years ahead so I will find a way. Just please...don't leave me forever."With desperation gripping your soul, you clutched at his shirt, your tear-filled eyes fixated on him.

"I can't ask of you to waste one more life for my sake. You will live fine without me. You have good friends that love you and-"

"No! Even if you can't ask that of me, we both know that I will waste this life too, longing for you. So please, even though I know it must be cruel of me to ask you this. Wait for me. Trust me that I will come to find you and live for me. No matter how long it takes, I promise you that I will make it. For as long as you exist somewhere, I will find you." Interrupting him, you projected your words with unyielding determination, disregarding the tears that were cascading down your cheeks.

"You love me that much?" he queried, a blend of disbelief and anguish washing over him for he struggled to fathom the intensity of your affection, not because he didn't trust in you, but simply because he didn't have himself deserving someone loving him to such extends.

"Go, leave me now and go to that portal before it's too late and wait for me on the other side. Please wait for me so I will make sure to come...Because indeed, I do love you that much." You reassured him and he couldn't hold himself back from capturing your lips right there and then, with longing, gratefulness and pain.

"Don't doom my soul for eternity Y/N...make sure you keep your promise, because you have chained me to wait for you till the end of time." He whispered against your lips once he had pulled away, his hands softly wiping away the tears from your cheeks.

"I will speak your name in silence, till I make it back to you. I promise." You rested your forehead against his and gazed upon him with a faint smile and hopeful eyes.

"Then...this is our farewell, my lady." He dared to gather his emotions and utter those words after some minutes of silence which you shared gazing into each other's eyes as if you were both trying to learn by heart everything about them.

Hoseok took some steps back after that and you held onto his hands until he was stepping way too far for you to still be holding onto them and as he let go of your hands, you flashed him the brightest smile you could manage.

"Please do miss me...and I hope you never meet anyone that will annoy you as well as I." He uttered making you crack up a bit.

"I don't think anyone can outdo you." You reassured him and he lifted his chin up presenting himself prideful over that. An action that had you giggling.

"Till we meet again..."His voice echoed in the wind just as he started disappearing slowly before your eyes and at that very moment tears started falling again down your eyes, for even though you were full of hopes of meeting him again and having a future with him, you knew that you were gonna miss him.

"I will leave my love to be carried by the whispers of the wind." He murmured just as his whole image came to vanish and a breeze rose, while you started allowing your cries to fill the void left by his absence.

No longer could your eyes perceive his form, nor could your flesh ever grasp his touch, but your souls were forever intertwined, forever bound to carry one another. The significance he held in your heart would never fade away.

"Till we meet again, my love." You replied among your soft sobs, despite the fact that you were aware that by now, he must be way too far to ever hear you.

Yet, at that moment, as the wind encircled you and tenderly caressed your skin, you lifted your gaze to the heavens, a gentle smile gracing your lips.

You will never be too distant and I will never be someone that does not have you, because I will always be full of your love. Mayhap you carry a fragment of mine within you as well. Until the day comes, that I can see the end of this mortal life, and reach your doorstep.

" Knowing you was indeed a pleasure... my mischievous, nine-tailed fox spirit."
