The Visit of a Rival
The voices of people screaming still echoed in your ears as they fleed away scared from the thunders that had started roaming the ground, striking at an unnatural pace and as you kept staring at the floating man dressed in all black, you couldn't help but assume that this was his doing.
You didn't know who he was, but he sure emitted fear, power, and superiority that had you and Yukio unable to dare look him straight in the eyes.
You took hold of her hand and whispered to her to run with you just like any other was doing even though you were almost sure that no one else but you two were able to see this man right that instant.
Your feet sped up towards a random direction without even daring to look back, Yukio's hand having tightened itself around yours as she was running by your side, with a facial expression that resembled your worried and scared one.
A strange feeling had engulfed your insides, something more than fear and agony and that was the feeling of knowledge. The assumption that your gut feeling had brought you to make which you disliked highly at that instant.
He had come for you. That feeling screamed inside your head. No matter who he was he had come for you and that thought didn't fail to make you feel desperate at that moment, bringing Hoseok to mind as the only one you could ask help from.
You yelled his name in your head as you both kept running aimlessly around the busy streets of the night, your breaths becoming messier and messier with each minute that passed by. You and Yukio were about to enter a random shop you found open and thought instantly of taking cover there but a thunderstruck right before your eyes, making you scream for an instant out of startlement before you felt Yuiko pulling you in another direction.
She was aiming to get you to another close-by shop that fell to her notice but another thunder halted your way, obligating you to change your direction again towards some alleys that you rarely walked by.
Your heart felt as if it was ready to jump out of your chest as you kept running until Yukio halted by the end of that alley, her hand reaching to her throat as she tried to take an inhale that seemed way too desperate.
"You okay?" You asked her as you gazed at her with worry, finding her abrupt breath too strange as she was not someone known for low stamina or someone that would run out of breath to this degree so quickly. If someone was to be considered physically out of form stamina-wise from the two that surely would have been you since exercising was not your cup of tea even though you usually do enough daily activities.
To your horror, however, she did not reply nor did you hear her take another breath till she let go of your hand and placed her hand on her neck along with her other one that somehow struggled to open her throat as if it was a jacket. An action that of course was to no avail and soon brought Yukio to fall to her knees and brought you to panic as you took hold of her face and locked eyes with her.
"Yukio, breathe, breathe, What's wrong? Why can't you?" You started rumbling words as you lightly slapped her cheeks for a moment then tried to loosen the collar of her shirt but all you could see before you was the light of life slowly fading from your friend's eyes.
"Hoseok! Hoseok! Help me! " Your voice cracked at the thought only that something was taking her life away as you screamed his name in the most desperate way you had in your life.
Thankfully he appeared immediately, slipping right by the wall that was at your right and he didn't hesitate to attend to the matter, taking hold of Yukio's shoulders and gazing at her.
"What-What is happening to her? Please- please do something. Help her please." Your hands started trembling lightly as you kept looking at her that had started changing colour, her eyes still looking at you with a gaze that seemed pleading.
Hoseok acted quickly, placing his hand around her neck, his fingers pressing at some specific points at the side of her throat before a light flashed before his eyes and a green-looking smoke flew out of his mouth, soon wrapping itself around Yukio's neck.
"Come, we need to hurry." He uttered right before his nine tails appeared behind him out of nowhere, one wrapping itself around your body and one taking hold of Yukio right before Hoseok Jumped up and you found yourself floating in the night sky.
You held your breath as the breeze of the night hit against your skin and your hands grabbed around his furry tail out of reflex while you were floating in nothing with no stable thing to depend on but his tail. He didn't lose any time to check if you were okay or not as he sped through the night towards an unknown to you direction which you soon got to learn that it was none other but the park that was at a close distance away from your apartment building.
He placed you down both gently and you rushed to Yukio's side as soon as you were standing at your own feet again, trying your best to ignore your noodling legs that were trembling from fear and adrenaline that all this situation had managed to wake up inside you.
The green smoke was still around her neck and she still didn't seem to have taken any breaths but she had not worsened nor was she as much in a panicking state as she was before. On the contrary, she seemed frozen as she stared at you without even blinking.
Hoseok moved his hands swiftly upwards and the grass underneath you started growing rapidly and strangely, it started wrapping itself around Yukio's body. You couldn't do anything but observe in awe and confusion over what was happening, but as you kept watching, you noticed some strands of grass piercing through your friend's skin around her neck area and her chest. An action that had your eyes grow wide in shock and instinctively reach to remove them and keep them away from your friend, but Hoseok's voice halted your action before you got the chance to touch the grass.
"Don't!" His voice echoed loudly and strictly. " This is the only way I can provide her with oxygen for the moment. " He added having you lift your head and look at him.
"Someone has interfered with the functioning of her lungs" Hoseok lowered his hands, the grass stopping its movement instantly and you just threw your eyes at Yukio again, finding yourself unable to react.
What was this supposed to mean? Was she stuck like this now? The thought only terrified you and messed up your emotions bringing tears to your eyes along with a veil of guilt that all you could do was watch.
"Hey, she will be okay. Stay calm." Hoseok's voice was calmly heard by your side as he seemed to have come closer to you.
"She can hear you. In a bit, she will be even able to talk and move again. She will be just fine as long as she is here." You felt his hand rest on your shoulder in an attempt to reassure you.
"What do you mean? She can't stay here forever you know." You spoke and he smiled a bit right before you heard a heavy exhale coming out of Yukio right before her body flew into a seating position.
"Oh, my God. How are you feeling? Are you okay?" You took hold of her hands as you looked at her with worry and she proceeded to take a bit more breaths before she nodded her head and you couldn't help but engulf her in a hug.
" I will find the one who did it and I will solve this soon enough. You two just stay here till then."Hoseok spoke and you broke the hug and turn to look his way while telling him to wait. Thankfully he had yet to disappear so he turned around and faced you.
"I am sure it was that guy's in black doing. He appeared out of nowhere with thunders roaming everywhere. He scared everyone away and I think he was chasing us and-" You tried to explain as much as you could about what had happened and the one you were suspicious of as well as mad at for messing with the health of your friend like this for no apparent reason.
"Guy in black? Was he wearing a black veil to cover his face too?" Hoseok disturbed your explanation and you nodded your head eagerly upon hearing a detail that was correct.
"Yes, he also had some green eyes that flashed and were floating. He definitely was not human."You added and to your surprise, Hoseok's face grew serious.
His eyes flashed that familiar light yet for some strange reason, you felt that the intensity was different this time around. His fists gathered at the side of his body and his attire changed right in front of your eyes to that kimono he was wearing the first time you had seen him, his nine tails floating gloriously behind his back, all set aflame.
A kind of fire that looked stronger than the one you remembered them being covered while in that corridor inside that pyramid.
A thunderlight followed soon enough, making you close your eyes tight at the sudden phenomenon and your body flinch a bit at the strong sound that echoed along with it only for you to open your eyes again to one more person being around you now.
The guy dressed in black from earlier was standing right behind Hoseok, floating in the air one meter or so above the ground while Hoseok's facial expression was portraying a slip of anger that you had never seen on him.
Someone who always joked around, someone who smiled even when he was irritated, one who was strict yet never lost sight of ways to entertain himself through someone's else learning process of their wrongdoing towards him, had now a gaze that froze your blood at how dangerous he felt.
"You finally showed yourself...You sly fox." The man in Black spoke and the light in Hoseok's eyes turned red as he left the corner of his lips tag upwards.
"I was not the one who was hiding...You poisonous snake."
