Encounter
Hoseok gazed through the glass of a clothing shop with a judgmental expression as he was wondering if the fit that the mannequin was wearing would look good on him or not.
A dark Blue denim Jacket combined with a nice black shirt underneath that had some artistic imprint on it. A tight necklace around the white neck of the unmoved mannequin that seemed a rather interesting piece and a cap resting on its head. The thing that had surely made him take his time and think about this outfit though were the pants. Black leather and tight with white-coloured straps around the thighs that seemed to have decorative purposes.
"..Hey! What are you doing?" You pushed on his shoulder as you had been walking home with him and Yukio after you had parted ways with Lola and Jake but without you even noticing he seemed to have stopped and fallen behind.
Thankfully you had noticed that after you and Yukio had made some steps away and after you had called to him, he had not given any response, making you have no choice but to come to check on what he was doing, staring like that on that window shop.
"Y/N, what style is this outfit considered to fall under? Would it be considered casual?" He questioned and you threw your eyes towards the mannequin he was looking at, finding the outfit rather fashionable and brave.
"It certainly isn't for just anyone. I mean, It requires a certain confidence to pull that off. Other than that, I guess it's a modern outfit, yes maybe even an everyday look. You wouldn't dress like that to go to a museum or something high-class. It wouldn't be considered appropriate." You replied, informing him of your opinion on it.
"I see. What about clubs? Is this appropriate for a club?" Hoseok looked your way as the spoke and you couldn't help but show the surprise in your face as your eyebrows furrowed.
"Whaa. Why are you going to a club?"
"Jake invited me to go with him and his friends tomorrow. I have never been to a club so to be sure I requested from him the dress code and he laughed then said that it was casual." Hoseok explained without hesitation as his simple words had really placed him in a difficult position for the moment, not being very accustomed to what people considered casual these days.
He had sure observed them a lot till now, enough to understand was could be considered normal to wear around but he was still unsure of what was the dress code of each place. There were many things that were too new to him after all and even though on his personal time he had researched, somehow he still hadn't occurred to fall upon any information about that place that they called 'club'.
He had thought at the beginning that since he said club, he meant some kind of team gathering but when he asked Jake if he was into sports he had replied negatively, so if that ' club' wasn't a team then it must have been a social gathering and in his head that sounded serious so he questioned on the dress code but took a different answer from what he was expecting and that ended in his confusion and struggle on what Jake and the youth around here might consider casual and what not.
"Club? Why is he taking you to a club? Seriously he couldn't find a better place?" You whined a bit, finding the idea a bit dangerous as you didn't know what this guy could possibly do if he was to get drunk.
"Why? Is that' club' place this bad?"
"Well.. not bad..just.."
"It's probably out of your waters." Yukio cut your words off as she approached too after some minutes of waiting for you two to go to her but you stayed chatting there instead.
"Meaning?" Hoseok raised an eyebrow at her, a glimmer of curiosity passing through his eyes.
"It's a place with loud music and lots of drinking and dancing and generally people having a feast." She summarised it and Hoseok broke into a smile.
"How is that out of my waters? I have been into many festivities in my life. I have seen the greatest of fests and the most chaotic gatherings. So, in whose honour is this gathering thrown for?"
You looked at each other and cracked onto a smile for a second at the fact that he was thinking that he was all knowledgable yet asked such a silly question.
"Festivities don't always have a reason to be thrown nowadays. Clubs are places that always are in that state. It's a place where people go to parties and have fun. Whoever goes there is not honouring any god or anything of such, they are just going for the sake of them having a good time." You explained further and his eyes seemed to suddenly darken for a second thing that got you a bit scared as you didn't have good memories of such switches of his.
"What a selfish reason to waste time, money and effort." He commented, before turning his back on you two and slipping through the shop's window and in front of the mannequin.
"Hey, what are you doing?!" You spoke to him but he ignored you and just passed by the mannequin and on the other side of it, now wearing its black leather pants and the necklace that was on the doll's neck.
"I have t look for a better top outfit and shoes. Go ahead without me." He said before disappearing into thin air leaving you both staring at the window shop now, surprised that he legit just went there and took that without even paying.
"He is a thief. He is a spirit of a thief. That's what he is." You uttered in irritation and Yukio shushed you quickly as she grabbed your arm and started pulling you forward.
"Don't say such stuff. You don't want to offend him again. You remember what happened the last time you were disrespectful with your words, don't you?" Yukio reminded you as she was glancing around in fear if the great fox spirit might have heard you and actually at her reminder you kinda started looking around too, wishing that he hadn't heard that as you didn't mean it. It had just left your mouth without much thought.
"Anyway, he is a great spirit and as far as I know whoever did a favour to him was always blessed with fortune and prosperity by him so he is not just taking things. He repays them in a way far more valuable." Yukio's words left you quiet for a second, knowing that you didn't really think of him as a guy that would actually take things from others just like that yet your thoughtless words might have caused a misunderstanding and even offend him if he was to have heard them and you couldn't help but feel bad about it for a moment.
Why was Yukio so different from you? Why she seemed to have a bigger trust in him no matter the case and you didn't? Probably it was because she grew up hearing good tales about him and her belief in him had grown strong enough despite the fact that she wasn't sure of his existence. That fact could be considered good and actually made you think that she could have been a far better person for him to have made a deal with. Why had he chosen you in that forest? Yes, you had spoken first and had disturbed his peace but she was with you as well.
Upon that questioning thought a memory couldn't help but flash in your head, of that scene where he was dying in the flames. Back when he was a living human. That portrait of you on that wall which he looked at with such despair, longing and sadness. That portrait which from the moment you had seen it had left you with unsettling feelings and troublesome thoughts.
There was a conception between you and him and no matter how much you don't like it, there was no denying it. You seemed to have been someone important to him but what bothered you most was that you couldn't help but wonder, if whatever those feelings of his were back then, were reciprocated. If that someone that looked like you was someone very important to him -enough to look at that portrait with such a sorry expression because he was going to die and leave her behind- then you hoped he was as equally important to that other you as well.
You definitely weren't sure about the feelings that she may have had but you felt sad at the thought of him dying like that, with that longing and apologetic face for someone to whom he actually wasn't as important as she was in his heart.
"Hey, what are you thinking about?" Yukio snapped you out of your silence as she has been talking to you for a while now but you weren't responding.
"Nothing. Sorry. Oh, we arrived" You exclaimed just noticing that the apartment building you lived in was in sight.
"You sure were spacing out at another level. Good thing you didn't trip and embarrass yourself." Yukio joked as she linked her arm with yours, smoking your absent-mindedness and you just sneered at her in annoyance before actually cracking up a bit.
You both looked at each other and left a quiet laugh soon enough having one more of your own silly moments while you kept walking however that small joyful laughter that had no strong reason came to a sudden halt as thunder suddenly echoed and a strong light flashed some feet close to you, filling the street with screams, among them, yours too.
You were so startled and scared by that and without even noticing you and Yukio had grabbed tight on each other as you had closed your eyes and snagged your heads against each other fearfully.
The sound of people kept incoming in your ears as you slowly dared to open your eyes and look around, seeing that the thunder had not done any damage to anyone. All it had done was scare the heck out of everyone as they were rushing for shelter despite the fact that no rain had started yet.
You dared to glance up towards the sky, wondering about the rain storm which you thought will follow soon but as you did so, your eyes couldn't help but grow wide, noticing that the night sky was crystal clear, not a single cloud could be noticed.
"Y/N.." Yukio's fearful tone instantly filled your insides with uneasiness and you held your breath as you returned your gaze down at her, scared to ask what was wrong. But as you did so you noticed that her gaze was pinned ahead and her face had grown pale.
Upon seeing that facial expression of terror on her, you definitely didn't want to look ahead but your body acted on its own enabling you soon to see, what she was seeing.
A man dressed in black was floating above the ground. His long dark coat floats at his sides as thunders seem to dance around his body. A black veil was covering his face that somehow made his green eyes that were flashing brightly underneath even scarier.
Looking at him, made you feel as if you were looking a death itself. The feeling of helplessness and despair he implanted in you was strong enough to make everyone grow mad and honestly, as the minutes ticked away, and your breath started disappearing sharply, you couldn't help but think that you were actually losing your sanity.
Just what was he?
