Ch.7 Teasing

3rd Person

Leona placed the beach chair on the sand. She was escaping the chaos of Beach volleyball from a distance, a far distance.  There was a sandy clearing of tide pools, close to the shore. She sat down and propped her elbow on the arm rest, and held her head up.

The calm waves occasionally lapped her feet. Her gaze settled upon the crashing waves in the abyss, and later and her new found sibling and family. Yes she thought of Bruce, Dick, Barbra, and Damian of course as family and colleagues. Tim, was quite questionable...

She tossed a few strands of hair that fell over her shoulder onto her back, How does Bab-Barbra deal with hair engulfing your face All. The. TIME. Her wild hair was the reason it was always had some form of braids to keep it away from blinding her.

Her gaze settled once again on the game of volleyball commencing farther away from her. She of course found a serene area to stay at, separating herself from everyone as much possible. She didn't despise her sibling as much, and doesn't want to claw the smirk on Dick's face....not much anyway. Either way it was a start for the almost ex-assassin.

Usually she would hate sand with a burning passion. Yet this time the grains that seemed to get in every space possible (making it impossible to clean claws) didn't bother her too badly. In fact it was very calming. It was the wet sand you found near the shore, but warmed by the Suns rays, making it perfect to warm wet feet.

Another small chuckle escaped her lips as she watched Dick get hit in the head with a beach ball. He was teamed with Damian, since, from the shouts she heard earlier, Drake will only get in his way. Damian and Dick were a okay team, they would've been better if Dick actually stopped sneaking glances of Barbra, and if Damian would stop constantly trying to frame Tim for cheating, and pointing out his every flaw. Every Flaw.

Tim and Barbra were more organized. It was like they knew what the other was thinking. Their teamwork was good. It also could've been better if Tim focused more on the actual game instead of Damian. In his mind, he was convinced Damian will try to murder him, even if it included a multicolored plastic ball.

Bruce was the only normal one. Even Dick and Bab's had used training moves from their alter egos, Nightwing and Oracle.

(I actually don't know if it's Oracle or Batgirl but....)

The game paused when Tim knocked it into the ocean, forced to retrieve it by the one and only, Damian Wayne. Leona returned her gaze to the ocean. The waves looked inviting, and warm too. She removed the white tee thrown by Babs and untied the skirt, placing both items of clothing on the beach chair. A breeze went by and once again tossed hair into her eyes, causing a few colorful words to ring out.

She pushed away the untamed hair and continued towards the ocean. She stopped when the water was about to her thighs and pulled her knees to her chest. Warm water flowed around her, it only rose to her chest. Currents of water struggled to push Leona towards the shore once again, still trying to drag her back, yet not succeeding.

The Lionesses ears perked when she heard gravely footsteps. She should've caught them sooner, but all she could hear where waves and the occasional seagull. She didn't even bother catching the scent.

She felt the splashes of water wetting the remainder of dry hair. The figure sat next to her in the same position. He smoothed down some hair and looked at Leona with green eyes. Leona was happily content being alone, staring at waves. Yet her Demon of a brother had to come along.

She kept her eyes glued to the ocean as she spoke.

"I saw what happened to Dick, very-" she paused looking for the right word "amusing".

Damian held his calm expression, letting a small smirk appear on his face. "Grayson is an idiot".

"Yet you care about him"

Damian's eyes shifted to his half-sibling, in a glare almost. "Care about Him"

"I see your bond, ever since I fought you as Robin and Nightwing on the rooftops". Leona liked messing with the mind of people. Putting them in impossible situations, who knew drawing out the truth could be so satisfying.

Leona noticed the ripple of water coming towards them. It was just high enough to reach over their heads.

"Grayson is and unavoidable pest"

As soon as Damian finished the small wave reached them, Leona held her breath calmly, while her sibling on the other hand took a mouthful of seawater. He sputtered out water and stood in the thigh-deep water, grazing the roof of his mouth to rid of the salty taste.

A laugh rang out, a beautiful one at that. Instead of a usual chuckle or purr, this one was filled with Joy and amusement. Damian removed the hair over his eyes, that now was dripping with seawater, and looked at Leona with pure confusion.

An assassin raised for almost eleven years to kill, was laughing at someone engulfing water. The feeling was alien to her and Damian's ears, yet also felt pleasing. Damian still had a bewildered expression when Leona stopped laughing. She looked at her sibling with her grey eyes sparkling with delight and happiness.

Damian hardened his gaze at Leona, crossing his arms and making a "tt" sound. "There was nothing entertaining about swallowing water". A light blush dusted his cheeks. Embarrassment. The Lioness pushed back some strands of wet hair that stuck to her shoulders and face. She returned to her strict self. "I never said it was funny, Damian". Damian hardened his glare, as if he could have. "You laughed didn't you".

"I did not laugh"

"You just didn't notice"

"I never laugh"

"Must've miscounted"

"Leave before I lose my temper, now I don't want to sound rude, but get the hell away from me"

Leona turned away from her brother with her arms crossed. Damian had a mischievous smirk on his lips as a idea formed in his head. He once again took Leona's ankles, much like earlier in the day. He turned her around in one swift moment. They were back to back now, while Damian held Leona upside down by her ankles, her long hair trailed in the sand. A loud growl emitted from her throat.

"Unhand me Wayne, I won't hesitate to claw out your eyes"

Damian only chuckled at this and continued to haul the lioness towards where everyone else was lounging around. Bruce looked up from his book, and Barbra rose from her rest on the beach towel. "What do you have there Damian" Bruce asked with amusement clear in his tone. Leona managed to flicked her foot slightly to extend Her claws on her foot. She only scrapped Damian's cheek slightly, from her position, it was quite difficult.

"Wow looks like he dug up some treasure, God job Baby Bird"

Leona felt Damian cringe at the nickname. Even Tim joined in, he couldn't pass down teasing without a death threat being hung over his head. "Looks more like a mermaid with legs". Barbra laughed at the remark. "No Tim it's clearly a wet cat". "Im Not a cat" Leona growled, trying to sound calm, "And put me down Damian".

"As you wish"

Leona was dropped. Instead of falling face first, like Damian wanted, her legs stayed roasted on his shoulders, allowing her to remove her legs in a slow backflip.

Damian once again made a "tt" sound. Her senses were telling her he dose this when he's annoyed, disagreeing, ect. She trailed my fingers through my now matted hair, pulling out clumps of sand.

"Why did you bring me here, I was happily content by myself" Leona crossed her arms over her chest. Why can't these bird brains understand "Personal Space". If she had to live with fools, she could at least get some time away from them. "Bonding" and "Family" we're not going two words that she was familiar with. She visibly flinched at the thought. Family don't hurt you. Family don't treat you like an animal. Family don't desert you. Family was everything she hadn't. All her life "Family" we're just relatives. That is what's different with The League of Assassins and Batman. To Batman family were everyone, even the vulnerable. Yet to The League family were relatives that only cared if you were permanently damaged since you were a "Valuable Asset".

"-Mermaid with legs, really Tim, you need to work on-Leona"

The red head voice filled with worry. "Are you-"

"Just Fine"

Damian huffed at her stubbornness, was he really like this. "You are not Fine". Dick, who had been walking around aimlessly, placed a hand on her shoulder, which she flinched at. That's when the Lioness Snapped.

"I am Fine, now stop interrogating me before I snap all of your bones and rearrange your Skeletons for you, don't even think of calming me down, because all of this Damn "comforting" is not helping". She sent a meaningful glare at each Bat member. Taking a deep breath her Amber eyes turned back to their steel grey. Her resemblance to Talia only increased. All eyes were on Leona, making the feline feel uncomfortable. She did not like being watched, stared at either.

Leona looked towards the sand, glaring at the grains. Dick could see she was embarrassed slightly by the stares, the silence was killing the acrobat. A cocky grin spread onto his lips, "Aw is Leona embarrassed" he cooed. Leona glared at the overgrown child. She regained her confidence once again. "Just as much as you are tolerant" she shot back. Dick put a hand to his chest, and sighed over dramatically, "Why Leona, I'm hurt, I'm sure Damian loves me, right Dami" He looked at Damian for confirmation. Damian held a do-you-really-want-to-know expression.

Dick grinned at the young boy. "You're an unavoidable pest Grayson".

"Aw, so you do care"

Leona rolled her eyes at Dick. He was so protective of his brother at times, yet also very childish. How can such a skilled fighter be so childish, as if there wasn't a care in the world. He lost his family at a young age, and is smiling still. Did he even bring the killer to justice. How could anyone live knowing their families murderer was still lurking.

Leona's eyes drifted to the now setting sun, shouldn't they leave. "F-Bruce, shouldn't we leave, it is getting late". She mentally scolded herself for almost saying Father. Bruce's eyes widened for a second, "Alfred coming in a few minutes, we wouldn't want to keep him waiting". He muttered something that only Leona could pick up, "-ina on Patrol", it was hard to determine the first few words.

Leona wrapped a towel around her soaking hair. It should dry quickly, like the fur of a Jaguar, but no one likes wet hair sticking on their skin. Barbra patted to a spot next to her. The two girls were once again in Barbra's room, now drying from today's activities.

Leona sat with her legs crossed where Babs had pointed to. The Red head domed through the surprisingly, silky hair. She had a mother like bond forming over the young Feline.

"So how was your first time bonding" Babs asked softly. Leona closed her eyes to search for the right word. "It was...fun". A smile grew on Babs face. "--and I am not a mermaid with legs" she finished. A soft laugh filled the large room. "We were teasing you" Barbra said in a 'duh' voice. Leona examined her claws that she would spend hours grooming.

Barbra left the end of the braid she did loose. Leona's braid stopped at her shoulders, still long.

Leona stood and faced Barbra. 'What was it again you say at night' she thought, remembering the shows on TV. "Er...Have a good night Bab-Barbra". Without a second thought she left to return to her own bedroom.

Wait where was it again?
