CHAPTER 8
In the ominous hush of the dimly lit chamber, Aadaya's breath hung in the air like a tangible mist, her senses heightened to the chilling cadence of danger. The malevolent echo of footsteps, accompanied by the eerie claps that cut through the silence, sent shivers down her spine, presaging a confrontation long avoided.
A voice, once familiar but now shrouded in darkness, sliced through the quiet like a dagger. "Wow, so we meet again after all these years," it hissed, dripping with malevolence, resurrecting ghosts from Aadaya's past.
She whirled around, the speed of her movement akin to lightning, her gun drawn and aimed with deadly precision. Her heart, a relentless drumbeat, resided in her throat, choking her with fear and anticipation as her eyes met the unwelcome sight before her.
A figure, clad in pristine white, stood nonchalantly on a raised platform, cigar smoke swirling around him like a sinister halo. His features were sharp, reminiscent of young Italian mafias, but his aura reeked of sin and deceit, a stark reminder of the darkness he harboured within. Domious, the name hung heavy in the air, a stain on Aadaya's memory.
"How did you get here unnoticed?" Aadaya wondered, her mind racing to comprehend the trap she found herself in. The man before her clicked his tongue, his disdain apparent as he descended the stairs with deliberate steps, each one reverberating like a death knell.
"You shouldn't have come here," he taunted, his voice weaving a web of menace. "You won't leave this place alive."
Aadaya's fury bubbled to the surface, her wolf within snarling at the injustice. With a defiant smirk, she retorted, "We'll see who walks away alive."
Meanwhile, in the shadows, Chris watched the unfolding drama on the screen, horror etched on his face as he realized the peril Aadaya was in. His voice crackled through her earpiece, a desperate lifeline in the chaos. "Aadaya, it's a trap! Get out of there!"
Ignoring his pleas, Aadaya's grip tightened on her gun, her anger a tempest within her. Domious's words stoked the fire, provoking her until her control shattered. With a deep breath, she made her choice, hurling her weapon away with a resounding clang.
The room seemed to hold its breath, the metallic echo fading into the shadows as the confrontation reached a boiling point. The standoff between Aadaya and Domious was a collision of wills, a battle of survival in a realm of darkness and deceit.
In that moment, Aadaya became a tempest, a force of nature, her movements a dance of defiance and determination. The air crackled with tension as she circled her adversary, waiting for the perfect moment to strike, her eyes ablaze with an unyielding fire.
The fate of both predator and prey hung in the balance, the outcome uncertain. But Aadaya was not one to back down, not when her every instinct screamed for vengeance. In the heart of the storm, she stood her ground, ready to face whatever horrors lay ahead, her resolve unbreakable in the face of adversity.

Amidst the chaos of flickering screens and desperate keystrokes, Chris's pleas reverberated through the room, each word heavy with fear and urgency. His fingers danced across the keyboard, a frantic symphony of determination as he battled the relentless interference of the jammer, his eyes fixed on the screen with unyielding focus.
"Saddie, help! Aadaya's in danger, Domious has her!" his voice cracked through the earpiece, a lifeline of hope in the face of impending doom.
Saddie's reaction was immediate, her senses sharpened by the urgency of Chris's words. With a fierce determination burning in her eyes, she abandoned all pretence of caution. A primal growl of frustration and anger escaped her lips, the sound lost in the howling wind and rain that lashed against the facility.
"Shit," she cursed, her voice swallowed by the storm as she sprinted towards the illuminated facility ahead. Rain soaked her to the bone, the cold and darkness fading into insignificance against the blazing fire within her. Each step was a battle cry, a testament to her unwavering resolve to rescue her friend from the clutches of darkness.
The facility loomed before her, a sanctuary of light in the night, a stark contrast to the shadows that threatened to consume Aadaya. With every ounce of strength and determination, Saddie pushed forward, her heart pounding in her chest, echoing the rhythm of her desperate sprint.
Inside, Chris's fingers never ceased their relentless dance across the keyboard. Sweat dripped down his face, mingling with the rain that soaked his clothes. His voice, though strained, carried the weight of unwavering determination as he continued his plea, "Aadaya, hold on. We're coming for you."
The storm raged on outside, mirroring the tempest within their hearts. Amidst the darkness and chaos, a glimmer of hope flickered—a beacon of friendship and loyalty that refused to be extinguished. The battle to save Aadaya had only just begun, but they would not falter. They would fight against all odds, united by the unbreakable bond of camaraderie, ready to face whatever horrors awaited them and emerge victorious.
*********************************************
In the vast, dimly lit hall, Domious's maniacal laughter reverberated like a sinister melody, intertwining with the ominous ambience that filled the air. He cruelly tossed his extinguished cigar to the floor, grinding it beneath his leather-clad boot with a sadistic pleasure that mirrored the malevolence in his eyes. "I never considered you to be the dumb type, hiding from me for so long," he taunted, his voice dripping with scorn. His lips twisted into a vicious smirk, a grotesque mockery that struck fear into Aadaya's heart.
With a sudden burst of savage speed, he lunged at her, his long blade glinting wickedly as he slashed at her with relentless fury. His war cry pierced the air, a chilling battle hymn as he attacked with unmatched brutality. Aadaya narrowly evaded his deadly strikes, her agility the only thing standing between her and certain death.
His onslaught transformed into a relentless storm of violence, a whirlwind of steel that forced Aadaya into a desperate defence. Each blow was met with her frantic attempts to dodge, but his ferocious speed overwhelmed her. A sudden, unexpected punch slammed into her gut, the impact sending her hurtling into a steel pole.
Gasping for air, a sickening mixture of dark blood and saliva spilt from her lips as she crumpled to her knees, the excruciating pain radiating through her body. Groaning, she fought to catch her breath, but every inhalation felt like shards of glass scraping against her lungs.
The Domious-look-alike stood a few steps away, shaking his head in mocking mirth. "You should've kept your gun," he sneered, advancing towards her with sadistic glee. His words were like venom, seeping into Aadaya's very soul, a reminder of her dire mistake.
In a relentless onslaught of cruelty, he kicked her stomach with bone-crushing force, sending her flying several meters through the air. Meanwhile, the real Domious cackled, revelling in Aadaya's suffering, his eyes glinting with sadistic delight. He stood on the sideline coming out from wherever he had hidden before. He stood a few steps away cackling like a maniac. Domious laughs, "wow...I never thought it to be this easy...more than what happened that night...", as he recalls that fateful night.
Suddenly, a kick landed with such intensity on Aadaya's abdomen that Aadaya's mind briefly shut down, leaving her in a state of shock as she crashed into the cold, unforgiving steel floor. Her head struck the ground, a sickening thud resonating through the hall as a string of crimson blood trickled from the wound. She saw stars because of the kick, and her vision turned blurry. She saw blood droplets trickle down her long lashes, just when her eyes focused on her gun behind the pillar, just a hand away.
Domious laughed triumphantly, recalling that fateful night, his malicious joy fuelling his every move. As Aadaya, her hand trembling, slowly pulled herself up, a raw scream of agony tore from her lips. The pain coursed through her body, a reminder of her past traumas and the unbearable weight of her emotions.
Just as the imposter lunged at her again, attempting to stab her throat, Aadaya sidestepped with a lightning-quick movement. His blade missed its mark, but the collision that followed was brutal. A very loud bullet shot rang in the hall as it echoed with the silence that followed. The imposter's large body crashed into Aadaya with full force, the impact sending shockwaves of pain through her already battered form.
They tumbled to the ground in a tangle of limbs, a cacophony of grunts and thuds filling the air. The hall fell into a heavy silence, broken only by the muffled sounds of the struggle.
In the midst of this savage battle, Aadaya found a surge of strength she never knew she possessed. With sheer determination, she pushed the unconscious imposter off her, his lifeless form hitting the ground with a hollow thud. Despite her pain, she rose, her eyes ablaze with a primal fury that burned brighter than any fire.
A slick, swift whisper cut the air. Aadaya glanced down at her abdomen, a blade sinking into her side. Her eyes widened, her mouth filling with blood as she watched the knife's tip disappear inside her. Her hands moved instinctively, trembling as they clutched the handle and the wound.
Aadaya's mind reeled in shock, her mouth agape, blood flowing from her lips. Her hands, still trembling, pulled the blade out slowly. A loud scream follows it, as it gets out her body from her. It hit the ground with a clang. She clutched the wound, attempting to stop the bleeding, anger and adrenaline fueling her. Aadaya gasping in pain, as she tries to think of something to stop the pain and blood flow.
Her eyes, filled with shock, met Domious's. Her eyes followed the sound of footsteps, as her eyes focused on the figure of Domious standing with his back against a pillar, shocked as he watched his imposter bodyguard lying at Aadaya's feet.
Slowly, Aadaya limped to him, clutching her sides in pain. With a guttural growl, Aadaya's wolf surfaced, her hands transforming into lethal claws. She seized the real Domious by the neck, her talons digging into his flesh with a merciless grip. Blood spurted from the wounds, painting her hands in a gruesome shade of red as she lifted him off the ground.
His face contorted in agony, Domious struggled in vain, his arms and legs flailing helplessly as he hung in the air, a mere plaything in the hands of a vengeful predator. Aadaya's growls reverberated through the hall, a primal sound that spoke of her unleashed wrath. With unparalleled strength, she pulled him higher, her eyes reflecting the torment of her past.
In that moment, the memories of that horrifying night flooded Aadaya's mind—the night when she had helplessly witnessed her loved ones being taken away from her. The massacre unfolded before her eyes, the sacrifice of her friends and family etched into her soul. All of them had given their lives to save her, leaving her guilt-ridden and broken.
With a roar that shook the very foundations of the hall, Aadaya screamed in anguish, her voice carrying the weight of every lost soul and shattered dream. Her scream reverberated, an agonizing symphony that echoed her pain and sorrow.
In a surge of fury, she snapped Domious's neck, his lifeless body falling to the ground with a sickening thud. Her scream turned into heart-wrenching sobs, her tears mixing with the blood on her hands as she collapsed to her knees. The hall fell silent, the air heavy with the echoes of her grief.
Amidst the remnants of her victory, Aadaya's sobs echoed through the hall, a haunting lament for the tragedy that had befallen her. The graphic tableau of death and despair surrounded her, a testament to the brutality of the battle she had fought and the heavy toll it had taken on her soul.
The earpiece crackled to life, Chris's voice breaking through the silence. "Aadaya... Aadaya, can you hear me?" he called, his tone filled with concern and urgency.
Wiping her tears with blood-stained hands, Aadaya sniffled and replied, her voice heavy with sorrow, "Yeah, I'm here, Chris...." Just then, his voice turned frantic, a desperate plea that cut through her grief. "Get out of there right NOW," he shouted, his words echoing with fear and urgency. "Get out of there NOW, RUNNNNNNNNNNN."
The ground quaked beneath her, forcing Aadaya to grasp the floor for balance. A deafening explosion rocked the hall, a door blasted open, unleashing chaos and destruction. Amidst the pandemonium, Saddie appeared in her vision, running towards her, shouting at the top of her lungs. But her voice was drowned out by the cacophony of gunfire and explosions that engulfed the facility.
Aadaya's heart pounded in her chest as she watched Saddie approach, her friend's face contorted in a desperate scream. But just as Saddie reached out to her, a violent blast erupted beneath her feet. The ground split open, swallowing Saddie into the depths below.
Aadaya's scream of horror joined the symphony of chaos around her, her cries of despair unheard amidst the roars of explosions and the crackling of flames. Flames licked at her, the heat searing her skin as the ground beneath her disappeared, sending her plummeting into the darkness below.
Unable to even scream, she fell, her body engulfed in a terrifying freefall, a descent into the unknown abyss that awaited her below.
************************
A raspy cough escaped Aadaya's lips as consciousness clawed its way back to her. The persistent sound of water droplets hitting her face acted as a cruel alarm, pulling her from the depths of unconsciousness. A cacophony of ringing filled her ears, disorienting her senses. Her mind, numbed by shock, struggled to regain its footing. The urge to succumb to slumber tugged at her, but she fought against it, her willpower fueled by the memories of the nightmare that led her here.
With a parched mouth, she rose slowly, her trembling hand instinctively reaching for the searing pain in her abdomen. A sharp, stabbing sensation shot through her body from the wound. Despite the agony, she clamped down on the injury, desperately trying to stem the flow of blood. Her throat felt like sandpaper, her brain foggy as she surveyed her surroundings. Only a ringing sound can be heard by her, as she hears a beeping sound.
She stood on a tilted helipad only held by three chains which could fall off anytime, amidst a scene of unimaginable devastation—what could only be described as hell on earth. Flames danced like demons in every direction, the hall where she had fought now reduced to smoldering ruins. The ground around her led to nothing but a gaping hole, a void into the depths below. The helipad, barely clinging to stability, swayed perilously in the wind, its metal chains straining against the forces of nature.
Rain poured from the heavens, drenching Aadaya once more as she stood, transfixed by the destruction. The sky above wept, the rain unrelenting, while the fires raged on, creating an apocalyptic tableau around her. Her mind, still struggling to comprehend the urgency of her situation, left her feeling light-headed from the loss of blood.
Amidst the chaos, a voice cut through the air. "Aadayaaaa...," it called, and Aadaya turned to see her friends standing at an opening in a wall, the way between them leading into nothingness. Saddie's voice screamed at her, "Go to higher ground...," as she pointed towards safer land.
Saddie's words reached Aadaya, but her mind failed to process them. She watched her friend point towards something on her right, her gaze shifting to find nothing there and then back to find Saddie gone. Aadaya's breath came out in faint whisps as she stood on the swaying surface, precariously balanced between the fires and the abyss.
A large chunk of the wall to her right had a gaping hole, and from it came the sound of gunshots and desperate pleas. Confused, Aadaya looked towards the source, finding a group of heavily armed men emerging from the darkness. Gunshots rang out, screams of terror and agony filling the air as people fell, their bodies crumpling to the ground in death.
In the midst of this chaos, Aadaya remained unmoving, the darkness of the night and the flickering light from the fires casting eerie shadows on her face. Suddenly, the group of men parted, and the last person she expected to see in this place stepped forward.
Damien walked out from the group, his eyes locking onto his mate in her most dire state. His heart seemed to stop, his gaze fixed on her standing on the precarious platform. His heart pounded in his chest, his mate's scent now heightened by her blood loss reaching him in an overwhelming wave. His breath caught in his throat as he watched her for the first time.
The intoxicating, sweet scent of his mate reached him, and Damien whispered in awe, "Mate..." His unexpected declaration shocked the pack members around him. They observed the girl standing before them, her presence majestic. Her hair flowed like a warrior's, her aura as dangerous as her appearance, even though most of her face was obscured.
A flicker of fear crossed Damien's eyes as he comprehended the dire situation his precious mate was in. He shouted at her, "No... get off there...," his body moved by sheer instinct as he attempted to jump the considerable distance between them. The pack members restrained him, preventing him from acting recklessly.
Just as Aadaya's hand was about to be snatched by someone from behind, she was hauled up. Saddie lifted her bridal style, her body limp as she watched Damien scream for her from his position. Her head lolling unable to balance as her body is being picked up. Her head lolled tilting towards her mate, as she watches him. He was being held back by the pack members, his struggles futile.
Saddie jumped off the platform just as it fell to the ground, and she ran up a few stairs behind rubble and destroyed concrete walls, reaching a relatively undamaged helipad with a waiting helicopter. With utmost care, she placed Aadaya inside it and climbed in herself.
Aadaya remained motionless, her eyes fixed on her mate. He ran from an opening in the hallway toward the helicopter a few moments too late, his screams and calls lost in the chaos around them. He stood in the pouring rain, watching as his mate was taken away, his cries becoming the only thing echoing in her mind as she was flown away to safety.
As our eyes met, I sensed a labyrinth of enigmatic emotions in the depths of his gaze. The chopper climbed higher into the obscure night sky, the gaping distance between us widening. It felt like a chasm of secrets, each heartbeat echoing with a mysterious ache that defied comprehension...
