We stepped through and were encircled in tall dark trees. The soft rustle of the wind moving branches and leaves filled my ears, along with the gentle sound of singing birds. We walked along the small dirt path as we started the journey to the clearing. The shining sun and deep blue sky were no longer in our sight, as the magnificent trees were all to be seen as they surrounded us left right and center. As we walked we imitated the sounds around us, trying our hardest to fit into the raw green nature that engulfed us. I told jokes and stories as an attempt to lift Mila's spirits as she dragged her feet with every step alongside me.

It looked even more beautiful than I remembered it. The trees around us created a small elegant archway, reserving the area for only us. The dirt path was lined with the ever colourful flowers of various pinks, whites and blues, we had planned on a visit months ago There were large, flat grey rocks on the bank of the lake towards the side. Flowing into the lake was a waterfall, rushing with crystal blue water. I looked over to Mila, who I was still carrying and was delighted to see her bubbly smile returned to her face.

She crosses immediately to the river and jumps landing with a thump and darted towards one of the flattest rocks. She slowly climbed up the largest rock, her legs slightly too short to succeed at first, but her persistence kicked in and after a few attempts she reached the top.

"Look Gracie, I'm the queen of the world and you are my servant," she shouted enthusiastically.

And that was when the games began. As I chased her off the rock all of the worry and negativity from the earlier events left our minds. All of our tears were washed away as we jumped into the lake, soaking our clothes. All that was left to think about was the game we were playing, as we entered the minds of the characters we pretended to be. That small strip of nature quickly became our playground yet again, as it had done many times before and will continue to for much longer. It was our escape, a place only we knew about. It was our spot.
