Chapter 7: Love?
"Bri...eaatt," I groan, keeping on stumbling along with her.
It's been a week or so. I've managed to keep Bri away from danger, but she's still stubborn. Despite that, I feel a deep sense of...caring when I look at her. I want her to be safe.
She groans and jerks her head around, her brown locks flying around her face. I hand her the squirrel I found and she snatches it, gnawing it ravenously. I watch, not feeling hungry at all.
"Bri..." I groan.
She still doesn't respond to her name. I remain vigilant however. If they aren't born like me, I'll teach them.
It can't be that hard...right?
She finishes the animal and clacks her teeth together. I move closer to her as she makes little noises and tries to walk away.
"Loovvee?" I ask, touching her arm.
She blinks.
"Bri...Zed..." I touch my chest, then hers. "Loovvee."
I heard the humans saying that they "loved" each other. I imagine love is a good feeling, and I can only hope Bri and I can experience it together.
A loud noise sounds in the distance and she lets out a snarl, stumbling off in its direction. I grab her wrist and pull her the other way jerkily.
"Noooiiissse...bad..." I shake my head.
She makes a moaning sound as she stumbles after me. I frown and keep walking, desperately hoping that my plan will work.
Maybe it's naive of me to think that there's a chance another zombie could be like me. Maybe it's just a pipe dream. I look back at the zombie girl beside me; at her cloudy white eyes and her dirty brown hair.
I think she's pretty, as far as zombies go. She's the prettiest one out there in my mind.
My thin lips stretch out in a light smile. "Bri..."
I like saying her name. It reminds me that I have a family.
